(Sorry about quality, but I can never get my screen cap button to work)

Do the unzipped files look something like this?

Re: Fairy War

Did you unzip the files into their own folder?

Re: Fairy War

no, a window with nothing but blackstuff inside pops up for a second as if the game was going to start, then it just goes away, without error message or anything, same with raped.

Re: Fairy War

Huh, I'm out of ideas then, unless you have a bad set of video drivers or something.

Re: Fairy War

Have you tried moving the Fairy War folder to the root folder of your hard drive?

Re: Fairy War

I think it means, the more extensions in the name = game won't like it.

The more like C:\Fairy War Thingie
and less like C:\Documents and settings\User\Desktop\Personal\Games\Hentai Games\Fairy War Thingie
the better

Re: Fairy War

Go through windows explorer so that you can see the folder called Fairy War. Click on the folder, then press ctrl+c (copy it).

Click on My Computer, then your C: drive, then press ctrl+v (paste it).

Now open that folder and try to run the game.

I bet you haven't set you computer for Japanese non-Unicode. Here's how to fo it.
  1. Go to you control panel
  2. Got to Regional and Language Options
  3. Click the Advanced tab
  4. Under "Language for non-Unicode Programs" select Japanese
  5. Restart you computer
Now go back and unzip those Japanese games you've downloaded.

... only problem with that is, this one's an English game. No Japanese settings necessary.

As Aika and Toxicshock said, move the game to the root directory of your hard drive.

Re: Fairy War

Much fun. Don't think I'll ever revisit it much, since I think I saw about everything it has to offer in the hour or so I played it. Went through the game pretty leisurely, lost once to the mid boss but after figuring the shield recharge tactic all was easy as pie. Spare the final boss which I haven't bothered to beat yet. Sodding teleports and projectiles make it very hard both to recover and land any significant number of hits. It there anything I'm missing out on in not beating it?

Um... you also recharge when you just crouch, thereby positioning you under most of her projectiles. She can't grapple in the air. When she seems to "duplicate", she only leaves an image behind, so the target is always the one moving away. Use Lily for her greater range.

Really, just take your time and chip away at her.
