@ Battle LA: At least Michelle Rodriguez lived through that one.
That's a shame, she can't die enough for every character she's done.

In other news, I rewatched Flight of Dragons, one of the few animated films I liked as a child. It still holds up as entertaining, its readily apparent theme that a balance between human development and nature is necessary if we are to survive is still more engaging than any modern effort I've seen, especially since it was years ahead of the green movement. Though, it still isn't nearly as good as The Wizards, the other picture I watched at the time that handles the same issue.
Okay, that made me laugh, simply because, yeah, I notice that tends to be a trend with her charries, heheh. Could be why I used her as a character model for my one Geist character (who dies and comes back.)

And I *love* Flight of Dragons! That movie never fails to make me cry near the end! I love it so freaking much! And yeah, I love Wizards, too, if mostly for the end and some of the lines. Though I wouldn't quite call Wizards a "green movement" movie. It has elements of it, but for me, it's more of a commentary on war than the environment.

I'd agree with you on the Wizards being more about war than environmentalism, though I will say that I reflexively tend to think that any conflict of Science vs Magic carries an environmentalist theme, if only a little.

That's fair, since sometimes, that is the way that those arguments tend to go. Wizards, well, kind of? Definitely more of a war piece, but you've got the nuclear wastes vs. the sunshine lands (basically) and if the mutants hadn't poisoned things, they wouldn't have that problem, so some agreement there.

I need to find my copy of Flight of Dragons and watch it again. I don't think they've put that out on DVD, so thank god for the VCR, hehehe.

I'm hoping it'll be shown in Cinema's in Britain, but at the moment it's only being shown in certain cinema's in the US. For those in the US who want to see it the list of cinema's showing it is in the information box-thing for the video. If it isn't released in British cinema's I'll be downloading it instead as there's no way I'm going to miss this. Then I'll buy it on DVD when it comes out.

Suckerpunch. Go see it. The first scene is better than most movies that get oscars. Textbooks could be written on how this movie uses visual storytelling.

Zack Snyder is the only reason I need to go see Sucker Punch.

A new Captain America trailer has been released. I'm not the sort to get my hopes up, but I'm getting my hopes up.

Just got back from Sucker Punch, forgot that Zack Snyder did the story as well as directing. Very impressed by the visuals, the story... everything, I just really enjoyed it. That's all I can really think of to say at the moment.

yep, Sucker Punch was amazing, I went and saw it last night. Lots of fun to watch, and a great story. Only thing that disappointed me was that we never got to see Sweetpea use her broadsword. I was waiting for it, but it never happened :(

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Been hearing nothing but good things about Suckerpunch, despite the fact that the critics are panning it, it seems. Some of the folks that I work with and I are making plans to go see it and I had two friends, in one night, tell me "OMG it's AMAZING" so definitely planning on getting to it.

As for my own viewing situation, friend and I caught the Green Hornet at the dollar theater. It was worth the buck. Funny, had a few good lines, had a few bits where I was shaking my head, but I'll stare at Kato for an hour.

Was a little disappointed, though...

The most knock-down, drag-outted-ness fight they had was with each other. Ah well.

I loved Sweat Pea's outfit the most, and I agree that I was so waiting for her to use that sword.

So yeah, Sly wanted to go see Sucker Punch again... so we went. I enjoyed it more the second time, especially after listening to the soundtrack on its own between viewings and being able to pick up on it more clearly. I also can't help but love the 2004 Dawn of the Dead reference in there.

Also saw this:

2011 Conan the Barbarian. From what I read, it's a closer adaptation to the Robert E. Howard books.

Not that Sly... Slyfox is an older user that's not around anymore.
