But what about that guy's way of breaking the protection?^^
if you run the game and put in your log in details the game creates another exe file to run from and if you copy that somewhere and use that it doesnt ask for your details.

and to answer my own previous question No its not worth the price.

i personally don't mind supporting an english translated game. they wanna put in the effort to translate it i don't mind paying for it. (even if it is badly translated)

maybe more devs will start making english trans right from the start.

This is my thought as well. I'd like to give the game a try, but that price is just higher than I would be willing to pay. I understand that it's not going to be super cheap, given that a cut of profits goes to DLsite, and that it can be hard to turn a profit on eroge in general anyway, but even so. I'm not particularly pirate crazy, either, so I'll probably just end up passing on this game.

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

Okay, purchased the game and finished it... I'll try to be as unbiased as I can, but since I disliked the h-content a lot it's going to be hard. Review time!

First off, the english translation is actually pretty good for the story dialog. It's not perfect, but it's obviously translated by someone who actually knows english: The same can't really be said for the interface buttons or the manual, though.

You have a total of 5 battles in the game with no story branches, except for one dialog choice near the middle. You start the game with only Sibil, and every battle nets you a new character to play with, beside the last battle. If you are fighting against a woman, you need to play as a monster and vice-versa.

The battles consist of simplistic card battles. You have 7 cards of three possible types: Attack, grapple and magic (Orange, green and purple), and you have a separate set of 7 defense cards of the same types and all cards have a number on them showing how much damage they do. The same apply to the enemy, and you also see their cards. If the defender picks the same color card as the attacker, the attacker lose a small amount of HP. If the colors are different, the outcome will either be a regular hit or a critical attack. If it is a critical attack, you have the option to select a spell (spell selection varies slightly for each character) at the cost of some MP. As such, the gameplay revolves mainly on choosing the most likely outcome: For example, if you are on a Defense turn and the enemy has 4 Magic cards, you should pick a Magic defense card since it's likely that the enemy will pick that (The enemy selection seems to be 100% random).

One unfortunate thing is that which cards you get is completely random. As such, it is possible to end up with a set of 6 identical defense cards and the enemy to have an hand nearly full of the type of attack you can't block. You only get one new card per turn (to replace the one you used) so it's going to be extremely hard to win a match where you are dealt with an hand like that, and it's an easy win if the enemy is the one with an hand like that.

Storyline and content-wise, the game is just evil. Murder, rape and torture everywhere, both on the protagonist and antagonist sides. You get h-scenes by winning battles. Every battle ends up in a rape scene, even if you are playing as one of the girls: I was hoping that you could avoid that by playing as the girls and winning but that's not the case. You have to win the battle, but the girl is raped anyway in exchange for the monster to switch side.

During the h-scenes, you have full camera control. The way it works is that you have to fill "pleasure bars" to advance to the next scene. Each scene has 3 pleasure bars to fill: You pick an option, wait 20-30 seconds for a bar to fill, and then you get a new action. Repeat until you reach the next scene. You also have the option to strip clothing off the character multiple times at different areas.

You have a total of 10 scenes in the game each with 2 to 4 actions so it amounts to a whole lot of them. However, the scenes are identical no matter which girl you choose.

Overall, the gameplay is okay-ish, the translation is pretty good (the dialog anyway), there's a good amount of h-content... I can't help but feel it is a bit pricy for what you get though: For example, Pretty Warrior May Cry definitively better value per $ spent. Personally I really didn't enjoy just how dark the whole game is and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable but I'm sure some that should fit some of you guys' fancy.

Oh, and do note that there's no save feature (WTF?): You have to make sure you have at least 2 hours in a row free so that you can complete the game and unlock the various events.

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

idk I bought it because I want to support the industry. While the skunk games are rather blocky and lacking it's the kind of game I want to see more of. But after playing I think the best we're going to get is playing oblivion/fallout/skyrim with mods (which is free).

The game is better than II but not by leaps and bounds. I didn't feel it was worth 30$ and probably wont buy IV if they do it. After paying for this I realize how much better something like guri guri cute yuna is, too bad GGCY didn't add a little card battle before the scenes.

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

The biggest problem with the industry is the ridiculous pricing for the content (or lack thereof).

All of the hentai dvds seem to be priced upwards of $70. A game like this runs you $30 which would get you something like the HL2: Orange Box with money left over which gets you Portal and TF2 with much higher production value and infinite replayability.

They're inviting you to pirate their shit which is why they have this absurd DRM in place. It's all ass backwards. People are stealing it not because it was easy to steal. The American porn industry still makes millions even though there's so much piracy involved and they're not charging you 80 dollars for a porn DVD to try and make up for the losses from piracy.

their pricing is just fine, its the fucking huge ass cut dlsite and such pages take. which is like friggen 50% and thats why the prices get so high since they have to accommodate that in their prices.

tl;dr the game costs 15ish + dlsite ripoff

you can see this by just looking at kurovadis which you can get at half the price from kyrierus blog compared to dlsite.

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

Even at 15 dollars it's overpriced. It's like 2 hours of content at best that's hardly an improvement over their last release.

For 15 dollars, you could get the Warcraft 3 battlechest which also gives you limitless replayability given it's custom games and map editor. Compare Warcraft 3 and it's expansions to Skunk 3. The production values are so out of sync. How could you say both are 15 dollars? Or if you'd prefer, you could also get Fallout 3 and mod it with nude patches and sex patches for adult content for 15 dollars. You'd end up with better graphics and a real game along with it that's more than 2 hours long with an actual save function.

The pricing schemes of the eroge industry just seems like it's designed by the same people who price things at airports. 20 dollars for a tuna sandwich.

I'm not siding with paying $15 for a porn game, but your also comparing it to things that have been out for a long time. Sure nowadays Fallout 3 might be gained for $15, but back when it first released you had to pay $60.

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

Can anyone name any other H-content marketplaces around? I ask because there is a solution to the outrageous prices. An international marketplace with lower fees for animated porn producers and companies with enough capitol and talent behind them to make larger or more fleshed out games. Small groups or individuals are already doing some great things in the spank material department but I think there needs to be more support or a way to get money minded individuals to invest in them. Maybe built up to something like the Pixar of Hentai.

Yea but $60 is less (much) than the going rate for most of the bigger named hentai games released either way.

Consider something like あっぱれ!天下御免 初回限定版 just as an example. That's $128. Are you kidding me? And it's not something like DLsite jacking the prices. That's the manufacturer's pricing. That's what you'd pay if you went to a shop to buy the DVD release.

So saying DLsite taking some ridiculous cut as the reason a game like Skunk is overpriced is flawed. DLsite is just working off of what the eroge industry's standard pricing scheme is. More than double the price of a multimillion dollar full production retail video game. A hentai game release would cost more than the release day cost of a game like Diablo 3's Collector's Edition which was 99 dollars and that was 12 years in production.

You're going to go with little technicalities here that the pricing scheme isn't way out of wack?

Guys, please don't enrage now.

Personally, I would like to know if someone can offer the damn game already (I don't have anything against discussions in threads, please don't get me wrong).
I'm one of those guys who like to pay a developer like Kyrieru (I think I'll never get his name right, I'm sorry), but pirate the ''big ones'' (sounds awkward, but i hope everybody knows what I mean).

If you're going to generally discuss prices for hentai, well i think there could be another thread in another section for it...

Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)

The thing to consider is the size of the market... Diablo 3 sold what? 6 million copies so far? An hentai game is lucky to get 1000 buys.

Even if you made the most amazing hentai-game ever and sold it for 1$, you'd be extremely lucky to break the 10000 sold copies.

Take specialised business software: Those usually costs you at least a few thousands dollars upfront with hundreds of dollars each year for maintenance. You could argue that there's less work involved in those software than there are in Diablo 3 (which would be correct), but their expected market numbers in the hundreds, not millions. It's the same for hentai games.

Like if you consider the "big" games: You have a whole heck of a lot of art to make. You got voice actors to pay, and the amount of voiced text can be immense for some titles. You got the programmers that need to put everything together. How can you expect to turn a profit if there's very few people that can buy your game? The hentai market is small to begin with and the audience is picky so it limits your potential sales further. For example, here's my personal list of requirements:

1) It's an actual game. I don't care for visual novels so it should be a game and have fun gameplay. Strategy games and platformers are my favorites.
2) Female main character: I will occasionally play a game with a male main character, but the game itself needs to be darn good for that to happen.
3) Absolutely no gore, no maiming or anything approaching that.
4) Have a possible happy ending. This means that the main character(s) are not mind-broken or slaves. They can face a whole heck of a lot of adversity, but there has to be the possibility to persevere through it and come out of it fine in the end.
5) You should be able to avoid getting your character(s) being raped if you play well enough. I'm willing to overlook a forced sequence if it makes sense (ala Raidy 2) as long as you at least get the occasion for some revenge later on.

So that limits what I'm willing to buy considerably (with some exception like this game here that I shouldn't have)... I'm sure that's the case for everyone else. You have a small market that you can only aim at a tiny subset of it...

* I'd LOVE seeing a game with good gameplay that has actual consentual scenes with tentacles or monsters (the heroine likes it because she finds it enjoyable, not because she's mind-broken)... But I'm really not holding my breath of ever seeing that. Sakyubasu no Tatakai is about as close as it gets I suppose :)

The multimillion production game is also sold by Gamestop as a 50/50 deal, just like DLSite. Actually, 50/50 is fairly standard in any wholesale/retail industry model, going all the way out to jewelry, music, movies (not seen in theaters though, only bought), computers, sporting goods....

Maybe it would only get 1000 buys because it's costing 130 dollars to purchase, is only available as a hard copy, and every shop that sells it refuses to export it.

The problem isn't a limited market share. The problem is marketing. Look at how large the user base of sites like Akiba, Hongfire, and Nihonomaru are just to name a few. Consider how a site like Jlist turns a profit as this supposed "niche" dealing with export costs doing nothing but exporting Japanese goods to foreigners.

Diablo 3 sells 6 million copies because even though it cost itself probably well into 7 figures, it didn't try to charge you over 100 dollars for it. It didn't artificially limit it's target audience (you can buy it online as a digital download, as a online hard copy, or offline brick and mortar). It is sold in multiple countries despite various legal licensing laws.

The eroge industry needs to take a hint from the actual porn industry and do the same. It's sexual content. Just because it's animated sex doesn't mean that its audience is absolutely miniscule (don't lie, as kids, someone out there had a crush on the Ninja Turtles news reporter or one of the girls on Thundercats or something). That's why when nude mods come out for Skyrim, it's instantly the most downloaded and liked mod. It's animated sex, but people go for it. So sell to them. Why assume the market for a hentai game is only 1000 people?

The multimillion production game is also sold by Gamestop as a 50/50 deal, just like DLSite. Actually, 50/50 is fairly standard in any wholesale/retail industry model, going all the way out to jewelry, music, movies (not seen in theaters though, only bought), computers, sporting goods....
Where in the world do you get that idea? If it's 50/50 with Gamestop, why is it the same price for Diablo 3 at GameStop as it is if you were to purchase directly from Blizzard? Did Blizzard also 50/50 with itself?
