What's new

Re: Monster Girl Island

Because the game hammers the whole "omg, everyone is DEAD!" message pretty hard, so its only natural to expect some kind of combat mechanic.

It is kinda hard to not expect a combat with story premise like that, but have you ever thought that the combat aspect will be more action-puzzle-ish? For example, when a single monstergirl more sinister and enraged try to attack the village, other monstergirls which allied with you will try to hold the attack while you running around activating the village defense mechanism at the correct time, maybe like delivering cannon balls or arrows to the nearest guard post or something.

Wouldn't know. Depends on the game's long term goal.

The inconvenience you said can be adjusted and isn't even final, i'm sure when changes need to done for the better then it will be done. Just patience for now, okay. ;)

I won't comment on the story, but you need to re-read the dialogue if you think its solid.

Looks like we have different criteria for a "Solid Story". I personally think the story for now quite solid, while not really grand. The main story conversation and its flow is logical:
Deserted in a island->Find out there are natives, moreover they're friendly->Seek help from the natives->Offers help as a trade-off->Surviving the days within island->looking for food at the beach->some of the girls hasn't really trust you so they assign someone as your supervisor->Return home after done with food collecting->met with new face along the way->turns out this new face bears some animosity->met with the new face again too soon->she challenges you->she overpowers you->she rapes you->you're rescued.
Even the set up for the sex scene is logical, there's nothing ridiculous with a cocky selfish sadist monstergirl toying with and raping her self-acclaimed to-be-slave.;)
If you mean about the silly choices available for us to pick during conversation, well even i think those are supposed to be non-canon answers.

Then I completely and utterly missed it seeing as the hardest puzzle in the demo was "how do I use the fishing rod?".

I agree with you here, come on guys :p, you cannot exactly call that a puzzle. The only puzzle exist in the demo right now is the food gathering, and the hide and seek with slimegirl. Really for a demo where the story doesn't even go that far yet, these 2 puzzle's difficulty are acceptable.
But well, a good and fun designed puzzle ala RPG for a demo will surely improve player impression.

And it is pretty clear what type of game this will be: A puzzle game/point and click adventure with the goal to fuck.

Actually, no. :D
The impression i get from this game is more of a time-management puzzle reminiscence of Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon without the farming aspect (Unless a farming feature will be available later).

You can get away from that scene, just removed the option from the demo. The game is not gonna be that linear.

Wait, what do you mean with this? Do you mean i can totally avoid the whole scene with the Slimegirl (for example: now i can totally ignore the purple goo puddle or even don't play along with her hide-n-seek, with consequences i hope), or do you mean i can choose to fight her back or accept becoming her slave during the scene?

Yeaah.. :p
Where else you get the chance to put a fishblade into a cute catgirl's ears?
Or the chance to insert a book into a hornetgirl's cleavage of caraboobies?
Or even the chance to smack a ball of coconut into slimegirl's head?
:D

Re: Monster Girl Island

^ Mod Sexy Beach hard enough and you can do that :D

Which leads me to the core of the game : Native-English Sexy Beach with more story than just "run around and butt-fuck anything that moves" is about the best I can describe the game so far. :p

Re: Monster Girl Island

The gameplay in the demo is not representative of the final version. It's just a fetch quest and some dialogue :).

Fair enough.

Seeing as the developer has already said that its not a puzzle game, I can only assume you're trolling.

Only hope the characters get dialogues for when you go full "special" and start doing stuff like that. :p

it would be 10/10 comedy gold.

What? There's a way to not get captured my the slime girl in the demo? I thought that was the only way to progress in the demo.

No there is only one path in the demo. I think you are misunderstanding what is being said. Redamz removed the option where you could escape from the slime demon in the demo. In the full game there will be other options that can be picked. Don't quote me on this but I remember Redamz had said in the past you can either be submissive or assertive when it came down to dialog choices.

Re: Monster Girl Island

^ Well you can reverse-reverse-rape her for 1 scene in the demo already ....

Re: Monster Girl Island

Whoa! Very good quality 3d work! I'm gonna support you on patreon now. Just by seeing the demo, I know it's worth it. :D

Now i have some thought about this..
1. Will there be a missable scene?
2. Can you still trigger the scene that you avoid?
3. Will there be any kind of feedback or consequences for avoiding certain scenes? For example, when we avoid the "captured by slimegirl" scene, will she be more aggressive the next time she appear before us?

Yeah I too wonder how this will work out. I personally wouldn't like to start from the beginning again just because I missed a scene. I hope he allows us to back trace so we could reactivate a scene that we missed.

Here is a thought: What if there was a little "H" icon next to certain dialog options? This would be an indication of an H-scene. Not sure if this would break the immersion, but it would show the player that by not selecting this option a H-scene is going to be pasted.

Pretty much this is the idea.

1. Will there be a missable scene?
Yes.

2. Can you still trigger the scene that you avoid?
If it's a story scene, no, but I'll put a save dialog every time there's a crucial choice. There's gonna be more than 3 saveslots too probably.

3. Will there be any kind of feedback or consequences for avoiding certain scenes? For example, when we avoid the "captured by slimegirl" scene, will she be more aggressive the next time she appear before us?
Probably.
Not sure if I want to make the consequences permanent or just change some dialogue though.

Yeah, an icon for this like the eye/hand/speechbubble that are already in the game sounds good.
You are not gonna be a able to backtrack on the story though (by the way, only a handful of sex scene are gonna be in the story, the rest are unlocked), there's saveslots for stuff like that.

Hey, can I have a permission to post your demo on the torrent site?

Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon without the farming aspect are literally visual novel games. Have you even played them?

Re: Monster Girl Island

Yes i played both of them.
But those games are more than just a visual novel, you cannot really categorize them as visual novel.

Animal Crossing, with open-ended gameplay, bunch of activities to do, and high customization feature, is more than just a visual novel.

Harvest Moon without Farming aspect, if you mean the earlier generation, then maybe, but the Harvest Moon as of today has more activities to do than just simply farming, there even a harvest moon game where you are not enforced at all to farm. What i mean to say is, even if you take out the farming aspect, there are still plenty of stuff you can do in Harvest Moon games, like festival, exploring, crafting, mining, and so on, and it surely not just simply a visual novel.

What's wrong with visual novel anyway? I know there are plenty of downhill ones, but so is any other genre. With correct balance, story, and innovation, a visual novel can be a satisfying experience like any other good games. You said it like it was always a bad thing, it's not nice to be biased you know? :)

Oh, while we are on the topic, Redamz, will there be something akin to customization feature in the future?
This is just me fantasizing, :D but it will be really cool if there are chance to make the girls change their appearance. Maybe for example when you're already lovey-dovey with the catgirl, you can gave her a cute dress as a gift and so she wear it for you (maybe only when it's just the two of you).

Oh, so you're using figurative and literal terms interchangeably. Then there really is no point in discussing anything with you because nothing you say will make sense.

Well, while i do agree that he maybe could use some training in .... english argumentation (?), i think the Point he is trying to make is very clear.
The visual novels i played so far didnt have an open world, didnt have something to do for me besides reading text and making a choice here and there, while those games you two mentioned seem to have such an open world and other features for you to do in this open world.

I actually dont want to call you biased regarding VNs, like he did, but the point still stands that you seem to care not that much about what he has to say, even tho he has played those games and has some fair points to make.
