Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)
I'm personally waiting on the public demo release to play this game, but I have to say I'm intrigued. I'm not a fan of RPG Maker games in general (there's a tiny handful of exceptions) and the Patreon page promises so much that it makes me iffy. Grandiose plans tends to either never be completed, or massively underdeliver.
Still, I have to admit that visually, it looks simply STELLAR. From the in-game maps, to the character sprites, to the battle screen to CGs, it's amazing. The new interface is very impressive too. And I really like how Neon looks, strangely enough.
Personally, I priorize gameplay over h-content. I also refuse to lose on purpose, and I tend to play with as few reload as possible. I basically try to get through the games with the characters as unscatted as possible, which occasionally means finishing an h-game seeing 0 h-content... My favorite h-games tends to be those that either:
1) Have the h-aspect to the player for actually playing well and/or progressing through the game. Examples: Interbreed, Pregnant Braves, Demon Sperm, those two succubus platformer.
or
2) Have the h-elements as part of the battles themselves and is something to overcome. Example: Maidensnow Eve
The Patreon page points toward this game going for the second type. I loved in Maidensnow Eve how you had desperate situations where your character was knocked down with something inserted, low HP, high lust bar, thinking "Shit, how do I get out of this one???" and finding a solution and pulling through it. That's perfect for my playstyle since it leads for far more stressful (in a fun way) gameplay, especially if it's not a gameover on loss (due to my no reload policy, have to go on despite the consequences). So adding everything together, it means fun gameplay, and still having some h situations while trying to win and play intelligently.
So on paper, Malise and the Machine sounds amazing to me. Gameplay that caters to my (unusual) playstyle, and fabulous visually: both pretty and terrifying at once, which is a plus on trying not to lose. Sounds too good to be true honestly.
But... I'll be trying the public demo when that comes out in case. If it looks like it will actually deliver on most of the Patreon promises one day and it's progressing well, I'll actually be subscribing to your Patreon. I've never done that before: I'm more than happy to purchase complete games, but early access is a different matter entirely.... But this game looks so promising...
