Re: Journey protect dream of [Shota ridge ACT] hunter ([おねショタACT] 狩人の夢守る旅)
So I've played through the game and I must say I enjoyed it.
First things first, the game has a lot of focus on gameplay. The ball kicking mechanic, just like in the demo, works exactly the way I wanted it to. It doesn't kick across the map but only to the boundaries of the screen. It's easy to use as well as a hassle to manage when there are other things going on the screen.
This game is definitely MUCH easier than one-syota for the sole reason being the main character can do a lot. Not only can he counter, but the balls attack potential is insane. Imagine playing through all of One-Syota with the water-laser-gun thing.
About it's length. This game's shorter because he doesn't pad out the plot with long sections of gameplay populated by the same enemies. You won't get bored of the enemy variety until you reach the end of the game and cry aww that's it? Also, the enemy variety isn't the only variety. Both sections have a gameplay element specific to them to spice up the fun. There's definitely a lot more content here gameplay-wise was than before. That being said, it was a gamble(add more gameplay elements and make the game shorter or keep the same gameplay elements but make it longer... )
About this new character, he's a lot different from the passive syota. He's definitely more outgoing and his demon is much more interesting IMO.
Technical evaluation.
I've gone to excess m's blogs. In all of them the filesize was the biggest complaint. It seems like 900 MB was a little too much for them which kind of makes sense. [offtopic]While japan might seem "ahead" technologically they keep to weird standards. A lot of the japanese still use XP w/o upgraded hardware since PC gaming's not really big over there and they still use fax machines.[/offtopic]
Anyways, back on topic. The animations were amazing here. He put a lot of effort on making the girls hot, and the animations are definitely a step up. Like every animation had at least 1 more frame than the previous game. Also, the voice acting was magnificent. In One-Syota, the first girl had the best voice acting while a lot of the others were subpar. Here the sounds are pleasing. Also, he definitely improved upon the effects. It's definitely a sight to behold when you kick a raging red ball at a row of enemies.
All in all a great sequel. I wish it was longer.
BTW: If anyone's wondering this game is also horribly optimized. It should not be 552MB at all. Syota is still in his files, as well as tons of the old enemies.
