The two men glance at Ai for a moment, the one carrying the torch drops it, discarding it as they both pull out weapons, looking at her with distrust, but not yet attacking.

As the men see her prepare, the other one drops the torch. As they both draw weapons, Ai tightens her grip on the haft of her naginata. Their expressions give out distrust, but they don't attack her right away. After a brief, tense stand-off, Ai feels the need to try and parlay with the pair
"These might not be the bad guys" she thinks as she eases her stance a bit, following it with a quick questions "What are you doing here?"

"This is our temple." one of them replies. "Why do you trespass here?"

Hearing their answer, Ai gives out one of her own, now a lot more alert
"A young girl's gone missing nearby, and I thought I'd be able to find her here"

One of the cultist speaks, as if he's rehearsed this line. "I have not seen and young girls recently, perhaps you are mistaken. We cannot help you and ask that you leave. Will you comply?"

Listening to the half-baked speech of the other man, Ai feels that uncharacteristic anger coming over her again. Tensing her muscles, she starts to advance upon them, urging Spinalis to follow. She'd beat the truth out of them, if required, but now she'd try and see how they reacted to a fake attack

Ai moved forward with Spinalis raising weapons, the men both responded in kind and tried to attack her, but she sent one of them spiraling as the other man was heavily injured by Spinalis' attack, quickly giving in.

"Fine! I'll tell you what you want, please, don't kill me!" the man whimpered. "The girl is in the temple, but I won't tell you where!"

Seeing the pair reeling from their attack, Ai prepares to attack again, but is stopped by the other man's pleas of mercy.
"So you won't tell me eh? Fine. Leave this place now and you won't get hurt."

The man quickly grabs his fallen compatriot and scrambles out as fast as he can.

Ai is left standing at the eight way intersection again. No indication of which way to go.

Now that men are gone, Ai is at the eight-way again. Looking over the paths again, she heads down the hall the men came from

Ai proceeds down the hallway, keeping an eye out for any further enemies or perhaps any traps. She wouldn't put it past this place.

She arrives at another intersection. However, it's easier to say it's the end of the hallway, and there are three doors, all alike, on the three walls. It seems she has to choose one way.

"They really love their intersections and labyrinths around these parts. Wonder how many paths all those other ones lead to?" Ai thinks as she looks at the three-way in front of her. Not sure where to go, she picks the door on the right
"Let's see what troubles this one will lead me into"

Ai finds as she tries to pick the long her tools get stuck, trying to pull them out she touches the door, finding her hand sticks as well. Her realization of this being a trap doesn't last long before the door shimmers, becoming a full bodied slime as the illusion fades. It sort of topples onto her as she cries out.

The slime ends up encompassing her entirely before she can do anything, she starts to feel her clothes getting dissolved, before she hears the crack of Spinalis' rope whips.

As Ai fiddles with the door, it suddenly turns out to be a slime magicked up to resemble a door. A small cry escapes her mouth as the thing falls onto her, covering her up completely with it's gelatinous body
"Not my clothes, I just had them changed..." she thinks as her robes start to dissolve. She tries to fight herself out of the thing before it has it's way with her

Ai struggles fruitlessly, but Spinalis proves his worth again as he whips the the slime, getting it to retreat off Ai. Ai feels some of the strikes, enough for her to like it not not fatigue her as she managed to stand up, fending the slime off as it tried to leap at her again.

Despite her struggle, the slime doesn't let go before her trusty rope demon friend gives it a good lashing. She can feel Spinalis' lash at her skin as it bails her out from the over-eager jelly. Now back on her feet, she picks up her naginata, dodging a leaping slime in the process.
"Now you'll get it!" she thinks, bringing her polearm to bear upon the creature

Ai misses her attack while her pal whips the thing again. However, that's not enough to stop it as it jumps on Ai again, engulfing her legs and starting to eat her clothes again. She also feels her legs going numb as the brown slime starts to climb her.

As her blade harmlessly swishes through the air, Ai seriously starts to consider switching to a bow
"Can't hit anything with this, rrrrrgh..." she thinks. But her fibrous friend makes her feel somewhat relieved as it lashes the slime succesfully. Her attempt to evade the jumpy jelly also fails, with the thing once again attempting to get a move in on her. Ai spins her naginata around, stabbing down into the slime before her legs betray her

Ai manages to fail at stabbing the slime, as Spinalis whips it off her again, she sees the ropes slightly hit her legs as well, but doesn't feel it. The slime now deciding to focus on the rope demon that was giving it so much trouble as Ai was almost out of it.

Ai thanks Spinalis in her mind as the rope demon once again helps her get rid of the slime trying to have it's way with her.
"Oh, this could be bad..." she thinks as the rope demon's lash whips her shapely legs, but she doesn't feel it at all. Nonetheless, she wasn't going to give up, raising the naginata up to attack again
