Re: Games Discussion Thread

Did anyone else's BF3 game get real shitty after getting the back to karkand update installed?

It's like everyone's wearing goddamn flak and my bullets do half the damage they used to. I was in a shootout with a rank 5 and he raped me, 4 TIMES. I watched my SCAR bullets go INTO HIS HEAD, SAW THE BLOOD SPATTER, and he was all "whatever" and killed me with the ak. I've sent RPG's into the ground DIRECTLY ADJACENT to people, and they do 50% damage, last time I checked an RPG that close TURNS YOU INTO A MILKSHAKE. Perhaps everyone really is wearing flak, knowing that people will want to get those RPG kills for that fuckin gun.

The Steam pets are OK, but you'll find new, better ones relatively easily. Reaching survival wave 15 is usually a great way to get strong pets on Hard+ difficulty. If ya want a sparring partner my Initiate and Ranger is in that level range to assist.
I don't think I'm good enough at the moment to be doing anything on hard difficulty. And sure I'm up for some multiplayer action, been spending quite a bit of mana on my latest weapon.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Got Battlefield 3 for Christmas, figured 'what the hell' and tried it out.

..... Old joke is old, but does anyone in the GAME INDUSTRY remember when you could just pop a game in and go? Or at least all you had to do was choose where to install the game?
Good lord, took 3 hours to install the game. And then another 30 minutes for updates.

And then I played it for 5 minutes and immediately uninstalled.
Because apparently, even though my laptop has the better than the minimum requirements to run it, it doesn't like being run on a laptop. Or at least it doesn't like being run on my laptop. That's the only thing I can think of, because everything else is fine.

And Origin can go hang. I already knew it would be bullshit, but it slows me down 200% worse than Steam.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I read an article in a gaming magazine about Soul Calibur 5. Most of it was old news, but I still like what I read. They said they wanted to focus more on the story again, which is good, because the story mode in 4 was absolutely laughable. Also they massively upgraded the character editor, which makes me happy in my pants. Boy, do I love me some character creation. And this looks like it may be the best character creator I've ever gotten my hands on PERIOD. The WWE games have been stagnating in that regard the last few years, so I'm looking forward to doing something different.

HAHAHAHA, I hated the Tower of Souls so much. It's like they were trying to make me break my controller. When I play fighters I do it on normal, but that tower was motherfucking hardmode WITH special effects on the enemies. The worst one I remember was enemies that had so much armor on that you could only take their life down by a sliver with even your strongest attacks, they had anti-ring out S, and grab-counter S, and add in a short ass fight-timer. Very shortly after that fight I decided I wouldn't be playing any more soul calibur games.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I think will answer your question, Nunu. Was it Annihilation or Armageddon that had its own character creation? I'm thinking it was Armageddon, and wikipedia agrees with me. Also, Annihilation is a movie.
Either way, the editor in MK:A wasn't bad, but you were limited to creating only one character per profile, which sucked major balls. Also, your ability to create combos was extremely limited. True, in Soul Calibur you had to adapt one of the existing fighter's fighting style, but at least your combos were more diverse than three buttons in a row.

lol, I was a mitsurugi player, I don't know anything about balance. If someone doesn't block or dodge a hit, they're done for.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

So, got a 360 for Christmas, plus Mass Effect 1 and 2. If my cousin doesn't steal it so she can play Magna Carta 2, I will have something to keep me occupied for the next several months, if not year, heh.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Magna Carta has a sequel?!?!?!? After playing through the first, as painfull as it was (grind moar nao), I didn't think they'd dare release another. Just when I got enough into the story that I didn't care about the male lead's... effeminate look the game was over. I don't like cliffhanger endings, and I especially don't like them in RPGs after only 20 hrs (or less, it definately wasn't more though).

Anyone know if they actually finish the story? I'd consider playing it, but I'm not going through that 'Oh you're interested in what's going on? Well the game's over now, bye' crap again.

Yeah, I wasn't aware of it either, but apparently, and you'll love this, it's only released for the 360. So...start on one platform and move to another. Gotta love it! Couldn't tell you, though, since picking up MC2 was a bit out of my price range at the time. Also, no collector's stuffs. Maybe I'll have to look for it at the store I've got some credit coming.

That was a great editor despite only being able to have one character a profile.

Still... I kind of hope they bring back that strategy like side-game. I liked that more than tower of souls, twas fun.

As for my post on battlefield 3. Apparently what happened with the update, is that now when you choose quick-match the game throws you into the laggiest server possible, with the shittiest team possible. AND KEEPS PUTTING YOU INTO THAT MATCH NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU LEAVE IT.

Has anyone played The World Ends With You? I got it yesterday on recommendation by one of my friends. It has a p. interesting plot in my opinion, and much about the game is unique.
The only thing I have to complain about is the battling. For me, it's a bit difficult to focus on both attacking with Neku and Shiki. Shiki's attack map is hard to focus on if you're trying to sync because the symbols are randomized.
I'm a fan of turn based, and had a difficult time with Spectrobes too.

The World Ends With You is an amazing game with an amazing soundtrack. And you don't have to control both battlers, the top screen automatically attacks if you leave it alone after a few seconds.

Yeah, I'm really liking the soundtrack. I'm not a fan of some of the dubs, tbh.

Well, thing is, Otto isn't a very good battler. I have it set to Mid in case I really need it, but my friend told me to give more of an effort to become accustomed to the controls.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I only controlled the bottom screen for the entire game and I had no problems, though I did miss a couple of pin holders so I got my ass handed to me on the final boss so I do need to start it again.

I haven't had a good experience just doing that.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Just got the two DLCs for castlevania lords of shadow. And fuck me, I couldn'tremember how to get light/shadow energy so I had to spend 10 min looking it up. Also, the only enemy I ever really hated fighting were skeletons (I HAVE A SHIELD SO YOUR ATTACKS DON'T STUN ME HURRRRRRRRR HURRRRRR) so what do they do? Fill the fucking DLC with skeletons for me to fight.

And lastly, FUCK YOU if you want to see what's happening in combat, that camera's staying zoomed ALL THE WAY OUT.

Edit : Got much better once those skeletons were done with. Still a little disappointed though, not much content at all. But then again, I really would have been happy with a picture-book as silly as it seems. Being a huge castelvania fan I really just got these for the story.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Been playing Uncharted 3 since Christmas. It's interesting, and it has a very cinematic feel to it; there are times when it will leave a cutscene and I'll not do anything for several seconds because I don't realize the scene is over. I'm a little annoyed that Drake climbing collapsing objects is such a big deal, because it's getting to the point where it's not exciting any more. That shit happens ALL THE TIME.
