A road curved by shortly after Nadia and Mary left the stream, but it seemed to be seldom used, and certainly there was no sign that there was anything worth leaving the road for.

As they were nearly complete with their first long trek around the cabin, the two women finally saw something worth noticing. A large wolf, clearly mutated, watching them from a rise. Just then, Nadia hears a twig snap off to one side, and spins to see that the two women have stumbled without realizing it into an ambush. A vine leaps from the forest floor and wraps about Nadia's waist, and two moving plant-like creatures, both resembling lions in shape and size, leap from the bushes with mouths full of razor sharp teeth. One gets a clean hit on Nadia, leaving bloody streaks on her shoulder, but the second one manages to get a mouthful of the vine holding her.

Meanwhile Mary lets out a shriek as a vine comes apparently out of nowhere to grab her about the middle and one arm before she can come to Nadia's aid.

So far, things certainly could have been going better, but they were hardly as bad as they might be. Once more, Nadia spotted the corrupted wolf, and once more it fled rather than fought. Mary spotted it as well, but neither of them managed to get a shot off at it before it fled into the woods faster than they could hope to follow. The others would have to be warned to be extremely careful when in the forest, until a permanent solution to that problem could be achieved.

Nadia only has enough time to get her weapons into her hands before the ambush upon them is sprung. Vines wrapped around her waist, locking her in place, and two.... Creatures, suddenly burst from the brush, green, plantlike bodies and razor sharp teeth. Nadia knew that such creatures existed, but only enough to inspire her eyes to blaze, and her voice to cry out; "Abominations! Flee from me, or be purged!" The pain of the wound she received on her shoulder was pushed quickly from her mind, and she flipped the blade in her right hand down, trying to sever the vines around her waist. She had to break those, and quickly, before anything else decided to join in on entangling her.

Nadia, screaming warnings at the attacking plants, managed to hit the vines holding her with both her swords, severing them at several points. She was immediately free, and after writhing for a few seconds the vines went entirely still. Mary, meanwhile, had no such luck. Her bow was of little use against vines at the best of times, and this was not such a time. Despite her struggles, she was unable to escape.

The two cat-like beasts, meanwhile, attacked again. Nadia was still occupied getting out of the grip of the vines, and this time when the attacks hit both struck home. She was knocked on her ass hard enough to take the wind out of her, with scratches on the other shoulder to match her first injury. She managed to get back to her feet. Mary, meanwhile, screamed as the vine pumped into her pussy, and then again, louder, when it almost instantly began swelling as egg after egg passed her lower lips.

Unable to maneuver properly after the vines had been severed from her body, Nadia was pushed back by the raking claws of the plant-like cat creatures. Blood ran freely down her softly glowing form from wounds at both of her shoulders, but Nadia knew that she couldn't afford to give up now, even though she was badly wounded already. She did take a much more guarded stance, however, as she got back to her feet.

The very first thing that she did, was to try and get around the two catlike creatures, her wings beating furiously as she moved around the battlefield. Mary had to be rescued from the vines that were even now raping the poor human girl before the rest of the monsters could be dealt with. With a pang of regret, Nadia noted the orbs already moving up the vines and into her body, but she still threw herself toward the girl, both swords raised. Two quick cuts, and then Nadia spun and threw herself to the side, using her wings to keep herself stable as she danced around the battlefield, a scowl of fury stamped across her beautiful face.

Nadia's first strike severs the vine that has just finished pumping eggs into Mary, while the second cuts through several of the others that have bound her in place. Her swords flashed, stabbing into the one that didn't have an arrow through its eye, and then ripping out violently with a flick of Nadia's wrists. The angel turned to the other one, and promptly slashed with both of her swords at it, just as soon as her weapons were free from the one she'd felled.

Mary managed to put another arrow through the apparent head of one of the one she'd marked before, but it still hardly seemed to notice while it attacked Nadia again. The angel, for her part, smoothly sidestepped the attack, and brought both of her swords down on the other beast, neatly cutting it into four separate pieces with the strength of her blows. Then she turned to the last remaining creature and plunged both blades into its planty flesh, instantly killing it.

This left the two women alone in the clearing, one bleeding from multiple wounds but no longer in any immediate danger, the other with a belly slightly swollen with the eggs that had so quickly been planted inside her. Mary spoke first. "And here I was, just thinking that this was a little too boring. Are you alright? Should we finish our route, or head back for the cabin? It's only another hour or so to finish, or twenty minutes straight back to the cabin."

Nadia spun tensely around as the second of the creatures fell, her blades held at the ready as her eyes scanned for enemies. There were no more monsters, however, and after a moment, the bloodied angel lowered her weapons and sighed, before turning back to Mary. The plant creature's green blood stained her blades, and so she couldn't sheath them just yet, and she turned to Mary, grimacing. "Sorry it took me so long to cut that thing off of you.... I'll be alright, just a few scratches." Nadia winced as she shifted slightly, a glance at her own bloody wounds, and then at the sky, and Nadia sighed.

"We might as well head back. We've checked most of the area, and other than what just happened, it seems pretty clear."

"You're probably right. Just let me..." Mary leans down over one of the stalker corpses, and comes back holding a small, red stone. "I thought so. Darkhearts. We can sell these and maybe afford some supplies if we ever run into a trader."

Between the two of them, they gather four of the little red stones, then head off in the direction of the cabin. Mary's sense of direction was good, and twenty minutes later the two women were back in sight of the cabin. Nadia's bleeding had stopped, but the wounds still hurt and she felt a little light headed. Perhaps she had lost more blood then she had thought.

Nobody seems to be outside the cabin, but Nadia could see people moving inside. Considering her instructions about staying together and the possible dangers of the woods, this was probably for the best, but if Nadia and Mary could get this close without anyone seeing them, then people actually sneaking might as well.

Then the door opened, and someone stepped out. A man. A man Nadia had never seen before, with green skin. An Orc. He saw her and Mary, and yelled something. Seconds later there were three orcs standing just outside the door, fifty feet from the two returning women. Two wore singed leather armor, one with a wicked two-handed axe, the other held a spear with a foot long blade. The third wore chainmail, and was holding a bow, with a great two-handed sword strapped across his back. He notched an arrow, before calling out. "You look a little worse for wear, there, and we've already got about as many slaves as we can handle. How about you two just walk away, and we'll leave you be."

Mary looked at Nadia worriedly, slowly notching an arrow in her own bow.
