Re: Project X: New update v5.8 released October 2016

The excuse seems to be: "If we post progress, people get ansy when deadlines aren't met."

If you have an account on their site (verified by a mod) and a few posts under your belt i believe that you get previews, but no public stuff really. The devs seem to get kind of upset over criticism.
Nope. If you have an account you can see the developer journal posts, which is 5 pages of mostly stuff which has been rejected from the game - if memory serves, there's only one journal which is previewing new stuff. Zeta et al (the devs) do post progress occasionally, but only when there's something concrete to show (e.g. the recent post on the new boss). Generally they tend to not post much though, and definitely no estimated timeframes, because there have been problems in the past with people being quite mean.

Anyhow, I'm pretty certain that pretty much all of the progress stuff is posted publicly, so anyone who's interested: go to the Project X forum and browse down the first page. You should be able to see all progress reports. Just don't be surprised that there aren't many of them.

New update October 2016? Who changed that? There is no update yet.

How cruel.

Attached are just the saves on their own. To use them, select "New game" and all the options will be available (Including boss gallery, normal gallery, arena mode and level select).

This mega link,
mega.nz/#!It0TDDjQ!CjnIsapc4MglJ2NPpll8lIQr-b-I8CN5noHMhB4Mx3s
Is a link to the full game with the saves in place.

The saves from 5.5 work, you just needed to remove one of the files from the saves selection. Currently, you can't access any of the game over animations or little tidbits, unless you go to that level and try to find them yourself.

Well that's fair i reckon, though still it would be nice so you can follow the progress - I'm really green on their forum as i made an account there monday or something so you'll have to excuse me for missing that. But weren't there a LOT of mean comments and non-constructive criticism on this forum about their game?

People tend to get hostile when a game is in developmental Hell. The team has had its falling-outs, broken up, re-started, etc iirc, and they've probably missed updates and such which only worsens the consumer/developer relationship long-term. Generally, it's best just to walk away, but I also didn't pledge any support or whatever.

Re: Project X: New update v5.8 released April 8th 2015

Whew,
Thought I'd best get an account set up on here and try and clarify a few things in this thread.

First off, I'm not a PX Dev, but I am a member of the Administration team and handle the day-to-day running of the PX Site, Forums and Chat. So at least I have that going for me.

I have to say, reading through this thread has certainly enlightened me to a lot of the ups and downs of the project since it's creation, I've only been around since 2014 when I took over site hosting so getting some additional background was pretty cool.

What I can confirm, the next version is in the works and is due for release soon. Standard rules, no ETAs because sh*t happens and we don't want to have the Hype Train running out of control, it's happened before and it does more harm than good.

The Current Preview threads are about Stage 5, and the new Zeena Boss. These are available to view by anyone and to reply to by members.
Sorry for no direct links, as I cannot post links yet.

Behind the scenes stuff is in the "Developers Journal" and is available to registered members to view and comment on.

Feedback always is, and always has been appreciated in the right places.
People derailing the conversation, being accusatory, wildly speculating, etc, that's frowned upon.
No development process is easy, and it's made harder when certain individuals start acting entitled. Brings everyone's morale down.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here, or pop in and ask them on the PX forums.
Activation is still admin controlled due to a troll problem, but if you say where you came from we'll get you activated pretty quickly.

Remember, I only handle site and community admin, so I can't answer questions about development!

Thanks for reading!

If you have any questions...
I've been able to view all the previews before Zeena. Why is it that for this one I'm getting "You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post."

I have already put in a member request, but I'm still a little curious.

Not really just a lot of people losing faith because the devs don't talk to the fanbase too much. Just release a teaser and take off. Combine that with it being the longest wait between updates, ovr a year and half, people are getting antsy. TThe forums already had one breakdown and with the whiteknights revving up and crashing down on people talking about how longit's been it's going to happen again in a month or two

Ah Talon, as has been mentioned to you on the PX Forums, and as mentioned in my initial post here, there's been enough complaining about the time it's taking.
It is a FREE game produced in the teams FREE time, and they know that the community are antsy about it. What more do you want from them?

It's been established that it's taken a while, it's also been established that progress has been made and a new release shouldn't be too far away.
All commenting on preview threads going "Ugh! This is taking too long!" or "When's the next release!?" is doing is either derailing conversation or riling people up. Something that none of us want.

All the community concerns and complaints have been well established already, no need to keep revisiting them.

So just a dude with good connections? ;)

Well i remember it being quite toxic, but i think our moderators has taken as best care of it as they could. (Maybe wrong on that one, but hey, e-points)

Glad to hear, i talked earlier in the thread about an actual devlog and wasn't able to find one. But that might just be due to me being inept at finding it. So this Developers Journal where is that and does it have a proper log where you can follow the progress of current and prior releases?

you can "kind of" post links just not clickable links. just do it like this facebook. com don't make a complete url. So a little work around, but i reckon you'll get 15 posts in a jiffy if you're our "spokesman" here
(on a side note, i'm not even sure you're allowed to, because of cream maybe be perceived as being loli.)

Feedback always is, and always has been appreciated in the right places.

^that don't really see why everyone is so mad, or entitled as you put it. But i still think one should be able to talk about their discontent. No point in having a discussion if everyone agrees and it's just one big circle jerk, but it has to of course stay in line with forum rules - and not just turn into a circle jerk of hating on someone or something.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here, or pop in and ask them on the PX forums.
Activation is still admin controlled due to a troll problem, but if you say where you came from we'll get you activated pretty quickly.
So that's the reason, i wondered why it was there actually didn't think all to much of it but it made me think of it nevertheless :p

Remember, I only handle site and community admin, so I can't answer questions about development!

Thanks for reading!
You're welcome *claps own shoulder* :p

I can't say i wouldn't like a certain update time. But we need to keep in mind it's not machines we're talking about, it's people working on hobbies (mostly). But i'm also pretty sure i've been sucked up into it myself at times, so i wont be whiteknighting all over it.

Thanks for the feedback.

The "Developers Journal" is a separate sub-forum hidden to non-registered users, it contains behind the scenes stuff, like arts and stage information.
Actual dev progress has remained public and probably always will.

Zeena Update: forum.thezetateam.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2034
Stage 5 Info: forum.thezetateam.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2000
Dev Journal: forum.thezetateam.org/viewforum.php?f=59

If mods want to pull the links I won't complain.

Thanks again!

Don't you worry about that, i'm just glad we have someone here who's a part of the "company" who's able to help us understand - On some level at the very least, or at least guide us to people who can help us. Customer support if you will :D

Funny, last year I worked CS for an Insurance company. I guess some of that rubbed off :p

Really? i see that as venting and most of are people making jokes such as comparing it to Blizzard SOON. It's a way of dealing with stress. It's only when people start white knighting telling those people to shut up and using the "It's a free game you have no right to complan" reasoning that it sarts getting out of hand and people get riled up. Certainly doesn't help when the person moderating the forums is the biggest contributor to that, by the way, because it makes those that do that feel like they're in the right and become or agressive.

As I've said before and I'll say again and again the only things that need to change are the people that go after those joking about the lack of updates and that outside of previews and teasers a simple talk with the creators will actually ease like all their tensions and of course there's a need to keep revisting it because it keeps happening.

Well that's the evil circle of it, no?
I can't say i wouldn't like a certain update time. But we need to keep in mind it's not machines we're talking about, it's people working on hobbies (mostly). But i'm also pretty sure i've been sucked up into it myself at times, so i wont be whiteknighting all over it.
Good on you. It's better to let people talk even negatively rather than tell them they're wrong and risk making them hostile and act up just to get back at you.
