Re: [RJ138139] The Holy Grail of Alharahn English Patch v1.10
Hmm, beat the game virgin route but there's no way to unlock the full gallery after game completion? Bleh. Seems to be missing a lot even though I collected most monster parts. Can't see the boss stuff I already cleared forever?
Game stayed pretty decent till the end, I wish the animations were a little more dynamic, but overall they were much better than just cgs. The story/world/dialogue never really expands much so the game feels like it lacks depth. The world did feel a bit empty for how large it was, bordering on a cheap way to extend the playtime, and the lack of minimap/map/area descriptions made that worse. I think it was going for more of an "exploration" type game but I dunno how I felt about that. You pretty much needed the statues (At least the pp regen, or you could be cornered easily.) to continue, so it's not like it was all that optional.
The difficulty was actually pretty good, pretty easy to lose/mess up if you didn't pay attention. I liked the clothes stripping if your health gets low and being unable to reequip them or save immediately added some spooks that you usually don't feel in rpg maker games. The mob ai could use some variety (Ranged attacks or them setting traps woulda been cool, jumping spiders/enemies, etc.) but it was nice that you usually had the choice to avoid or fight enemies (With penalties for choosing wrong). The boss fights were fun but I think in my 4 hours of playtime there were really only two bosses (Goblin, succubus), certainly coulda used more.
Overall rating is probably somewhere around 5-6, was above average in most things but the lack of plot, dialogue, interesting characters and such kinda hurt it. I almost didn't continue it just because the world was pretty boring. I can't recall an overall decent rpg game like this lacking so heavily in dialogue. It was pretty awkward lol. Nobody had any personality. Dev should probably hire a writer.
