Re: R.I.P Nyaa/Sukebei

Welp, time to do another backup of everything I have. Other than that, I'm mostly just worried as to where I'm going to be able to find larger games (visual novels, mostly) without a lot of hassle. I tend to dislike most of the other file sharing sites (such as Anime Sharing) for their users putting their links behind sites that make you go through multiple pages of malware-laden ads.

Hope we can find a similar site although ppl did mention anime-sharing you need to consider that most of the links the site has are down and the ones that aren´t you need to pay for. All we need to do right now is a twenty gun salute for the site.

Re: R.I.P Nyaa/Sukebei

4chan has been posting about this, quite a few fellow perturbed perverts over there. The court case in question though sounds more like the judge made a ruling on a particular point, but didn't realize that it could be used potentially as a precedent for going after wider streaming. Even Netflix in Euroland is shitting the bed right now since they had introduced a download service via their app, and this could mean that if they lost the rights to a show abruptly and had allowed people to download it, they could get used for supposedly enabling piracy.
Try not to go word for word for those idiots in 4chan as some of them are sperging out pretty hard and shouting out it's the end of the world due to it. I say when official word comes to it that Nyaa is truly 'KILL' then prep for the worst.

Re: R.I.P Nyaa/Sukebei

I'm not that worried, their magnet link database will be leaked soon, and many torrent trackers or alternatives will upload it so we will migrate there.

It's sad, but it's always the same. Just as piratebay or kickasstorrents, within a few hours another web spawns with all the goodies.

RIP nyaa, always on our hearts.

So many torrent sites have come and gone the last two decades I find it hard to be perturbed by this, but nyaa was one of the best. Easily navigable and (mostly) good seeds.
Glad to see it was justified paranoia and not some government takedown, though.

I could see Japanese will praise about this....
Its like their dying wish come true.

It doesn't really hurt me much regardless...
These days, there aren't any good H-game that you could fap for century, many of'em just a cookie cutout BS from RPGmaker or something too bizarre to fap for....
Even 3D game wasn't that spectacular, witch upsets me the most.
Same goes for H-anime and JAV too, its a same shit different year.
I would finally miss Nyaa when Hentai industry opens a another door to golden age...

So, the site went down and then up again a few hours later.

Is pretty much my reaction.

Re: R.I.P Nyaa/Sukebei

A siterip is less exciting than the site actually coming back online. I mean the good news with sites like this that don't actually host the content is that they're pretty easy to bring back up (I think). As long as all the torrent links are saved and such, it should be okay. Nyaa itself just mostly brought leachers and seeders together after all, but it also had comments and such. The question now is will it be maintained as well, or will it slowly fade away as nobody is able to keep it properly updated.

There's also no guarantee that the stuff won't be laced with viruses and such, happens to movie torrent sites a lot, trying to rip off the old pirate bay and such. Well I don't know as much about this as I wish I did, but just sayin, be careful is all. Any new site that pops up isn't as likely to be as reliable as Nyaa. It doesn't even have an upload function yet right? Atm it's just a temporary fix for finding old stuff.

Edit: Actually tried to add an old torrent and no dice, hmm. Maybe I was wrong and even the torrents are fudged? I'll have to read up more on torrents eh. Lol scratch that, simple fix of pasting the wrong info. Seems to be working, for now, though since there's no way to check seeders/leechers now...welp. Guess we'll see. Worried a lot of people are bailing on seeding because of this.

Something will take its place but it probably won't be as good or as readily available/public. Yeah, already learning about alternatives, though I don't know how they are with games. Some places have blacklists for DLsite stuff for example. Trying to keep people from porn will never work for long though, we'll get through this.

I don't think the site needed to be closed. The owner just got really paranoid of facing jail time due to a recent "anti-piracy law", which I never heard of tbh. I really think that there was no need to shut the site down for good, because I highly doubt that any legal authority gives a single shit about a torrent site that offers torrent/magnet links to anime/manga/hentai etc.. The only thing that is a concern is that nyaa allowed loli content, so yeah that might've been a bit problematic.

You're right.

That's not an alternative, just a siterip.
If you want to download a game at least a month old, you should find it there. But that's no alternative, there is no filters, no peer information, and definitively it hasn't the old community.

Re: R.I.P Nyaa/Sukebei

Well, I thought that I couldn't access the site due to shitty internet. Not from the site being shut down.

But, I wouldn't say Nyaa is dead yet. Not too long ago Pirate Bay was shut down for a few days and managed to come back up. So hopefully the same case happens to Nyaa. Here's to hoping.

Some people mentioned that Bakabt went private, never visited the site so I dunno for sure, but you probably need some kind of invite/account to access it now. Right now there are a ton of alternatives, but probably nothing as solid as Nyaa. Most the stuff I'm hearing about seems to be a bit more exclusive in the type of content they have, so you may need to use multiple sites to fill in for Nyaa.

It'll probably take a bit for a new site to be as reliable, but there are apparently quite a few that are "invite only" or "account only" types I've heard of that are supposed to be decent though. You can pretty much just google "nyaa offline" and will get tons of results for people chatting about alternatives. Atm I'm not interested in anything that probably isn't still on the siterip, so I haven't looked into anything too seriously.
