Re: Character Creation Thread

Name: Flowers Nicole Silversong (Tallinea)
Race: Harpy
Element: Air
Gender: Female
Description (short): Long, flowing soft purple feathers, and a friendly smile. Golden, soft legs, and bright eyes. A bit on the tall side, which said even more for a harpy, her usual stance casually putting her at just under six feet tall. With exception of sometimes wearing a too skimpy skirt in town, she would often not mind going nude, especially when on her own, though quickly pulls out unusual fashions for harpies when she knows she's going to be around a lot of people.

Description (longer):
Long violet hairfeathers loosely tied back in a crimson ribbon laid softly about the young woman's face, blending into her flowing feathers, perfectly smoothed down with similar ribbons floating down to her wingtips, across the softer purple feathers caressing her body, that she cautiously, where she often tried to hold a small bag, stuffed with several articles of clothing from other species, modified for her own use... a loose fitting vest with more room for her wings to slide through, a fanciful backless black dress that drapes perfectly across her frame, guarding what many other species would consider their modesty, that she pairs off with wide midnight blue ribbons, even a pair of pants that she begrudgingly forced on from time to time, in addition to her own choice of more harpy appropriate clothing, a skirt and a one shoulder top that she could snap in place without needing to pull it on over her feathers. Her only articles of clothing she never abandoned, a wide belt with a variety of pouches and compartments, a popular accessory for her kind, and a small legbag, cradled halfway down her soft golden legs, slightly cumbersome for walking, but extremely handy for flight. The curvy half avian was slightly more human in appearance than some of her fellows, having fewer body feathers by compare, perhaps part of her reason for an addiction to fashions of other species, her front side almost completely bare, and if not for her wings, she had almost been mistaken for a nude elf on several occasions when tending to her part time job at a local bar.

Beneath her clothing centered exterior, her feathers did not even reach her perky breasts, and tucked low enough on her front to often disappear into her skirt, sometimes looked at as having done this herself for fashion reasons as some modern harpies have done to show off their human bodies more, to attract their own species, and others alike. The plumage that she does have is very dense and soft, well maintained, and she loves showing it off (one of the reasons she adores that little black dress), and she would never trim it back unless she absolutely had to. Her appearance, for those who know harpies, had the lean, predatory lines of her mother's ancestry, as well as the flowing curves of women from her father's ancestry, the man having used his melodic songbird voice to seduce a powerful huntress, an unusual parentage, but not unheard of. This coupling surprisingly granted her much of her mother's powerful wings and long graceful legs, mixed with her father's unusually petite body, making many other species think she is larger than she is due to their reliance on height as a measure of size.

Background:
Her father traveled the world as a famous performer, singing, telling jokes, and spinning fantastic stories to kings and lords alike, before subtly bedding the queens and ladies who took his interest. It was during one of these journeys that he met the unlikely woman that would become her mother. The harpy having strong falcon ancestry, trained as a warrior of her people, when her land became more peaceful, she joined a group of mercenaries looking for work, that took her far away from her homeland.

... Their story is for another time though... but the outcome was young Flowers... and her many siblings.

Raised traveling with her parents, the pair, eventually, settled down, opening a small tavern and shop. Though neither were very good with business, their side talents were more than enough to keep them wealthy while raising children.

Flowers often helped tend to the business in between listening to stories from her father of beautiful lands, and beautiful women (not to mention the occasional gorgeous man), while her mother told of heroic deeds and noble efforts.

Harpies, by nature, had always felt a strong need to migrate during their life, to scout out a land for themselves, to mate, and to start a life of their own... Flower's own story only further fueled by her parents... and memories of seeing fantastic things as a young chick.

Edit: I fudged beginning stats... Fixing now.

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp, Aurani)

She'd expected disbelief. She'd planned for panic, anticipated revilement, jeers, and mockery. But a cheerful indifference was not on the list of reactions Alazais had predicted, starting on this madcap errand across the whole continent!

It's with a faint, detached sense of shock, therefore, that the robed woman allows herself to be ushered inside, given a table and a pint of ale, and left to her own devices. Celine gets nothing more than a cursory glance, before the Oracle leans her chair back, and closes golden eyes. It had been, after all, a long day's travel the day before.. no one had warned her how much -walking- there would be outside the Enclave!

At the first, stirring sounds of conversation, she rouses, one eye blinking slowly open.. and the Oracle sits forward, as stealthily as she can manage. Of course, that means her chair tips forward once again.. legs meeting the wood with a loud clunk.

Letting the bustier slide from her arms entirely, leaving her clad in only breeches and boots, Meaghan sat up quickly and pressed her lips hungrily against the stranger, sliding her tongue between his lips and running down the length of his fangs, one of the most intimate gestures of the Vampyres.

Her hands eagerly pulled off his shirt, leaving him in a similar state to herself, nails racking down his back as she ground her groin against him.

Keti smiled gently as Nae spoke, an glancing at her as he made small adjustments to the flowers in the vase.

As she finished, he started looking through the basket as he walked back into the house. He held two cups when he came out a moment later. He put the basket and both cups on the table, and pulled out a particularly large plum, offering it to the Siren that sat across of him.

Baptism by Fire (Occam, Squid, Kathy)

It was a peaceful morning in Byiron Ridge, home of one of the larger Harpy colonies in Vira. Situated in a dry region not far north of the Nekomata Empire, the area was unfriendly enough on most to see them fairly undisturbed, but provided plentiful food to hunt and forage causing the clan to grow beyond the size most harpy clans reach. So much so that they had spread out into a number of smaller nest sites along the canyon they made their homes rather than the singular site that was more common amoungst their kind.

At one of the many nesting sites, a subset of the clan were gathered around the meeting fire for a communal breakfast, something that occured once or twice a week in order to swap stories and keep the group informed on events. Naturally, everyone was expected to attend, putting Drago as well as his wife Zunih and her sister Kriia there. The whimiscal and wanderlust affected Flowers was also there, along with a dozen or so others, eating breakfast and swapping stories and news.

As one might expect, the subject of the growing rumours of another darkfall were a major concern, the Nekomata Empire to their south was becoming more and more active, drilling their armies, patrolling their borders heavily. They were almost insufferable to be around, the way they paraded their supposed superiority. Still, if one or more of the Accused Ones were waking up again, it was definitely something to take notice of and opinions were divided on what shoudl be done should they be proven true, some advocating migrating to a more peaceful area, others insisting they remain here and deefnd their territory, a thrid group stating that they should send their warriors forth to do battle with the darkness. This was in turn met with potest that it would leave their homes undefended and the entire thingw as rapidly devolving into an argument that would see nothing useful done that morning.

The argumentw as cut abruptly short, however, as a large pillar of smoke was seen rising further down the canyon. "That... that's about where one of our nesting sites is!" someone cried in alarm. While small smoke was not unheard of, due to the cookies fires, this was no small fire. Between the smoke and the red glow in the distance which blended against the red stone beneath them there was no doubt that a fire that size could have engulfed that entire nesting area. The questions were how and why, which went unanswered as a combination of alarm and indignation swelled amoungst the meeting.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

And so the hours wore on, turning into days as the group made their way along the road. By night, the group made camp, setting up small tents carried upon their packlizard. The professor broke out the dry rations they had taken with them, but Nath disappeared shortly before mealtime, returning some time later with a number of small mammals which he roasted over a cooking fire. Anyone who looked dreamily at the option of fresh, warm meat rather than the dry rations they had would be offered some and likewise he'd accept offers for assistance in hunting from the students on the following days, although he was adamant that Satuma remain behind to guard the campsite while he was away.

This settled into a daily routine as the days passed, the group turning off the road north to take a lesser trail towards the mountain pass they were to cross. Moving through the mountains was a slower process than their overland travel, the road was not particularly well kept, nor was it overly straight and much time was spent weaving through the rocky mountains. Nath had ceased to hunt here, claiming the game was scarce and the hunt too dangerous, the last thing they wanted was to provoke one of the local rock wolf packs into feeling threatened by their presence. On the fourth day of travel through the pass, around mid-afternoon, a great howl was heard not far, it sounded reasonably close. "Rock wovles," Nath explained quietly. "We keep moving, but try not to make too much noise, they're challenging us. If we don't rise to it, they'll decide we're not a threat to their territory."

Drago had stood behind his wife, holding her in an embrace throughout the whole meeting, listening to the bickering, though he was leaning towards taking the fight to the Accursed. His Black feathers ruffled when he heard the mention of the fire, releasing his wife and stepping away from the circle. "Kriia, are you coming with me?" he asks, raising his wings and flapping, taking off and hovering about ten feet off the ground near the fire. "We have to help them." he says, a slight hint of anger in his voice as he curls his talons fully, waiting for other Harpies from the community to join in.

The male elf of the pair shakes his head to the Dryad's question. "No... we knew them not, but my sister... she is terrified that the same fate may await us both as well..." he replies grimly, holding her closely.

The dark haired nymph turned and wordlessly began to walk away, a slow and limping step, it seemed almost as if she was in some sort of daze, but it was most likely due to a state of shock.

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Jorran nods gravely, "It seems my dear friend has indeed told you most of the facts. Our cove has long since been a spot of tranquil waters and plentiful catch, but in recent years we've seen storms and a drop in fish. We've lost fishermen to cruel waters and the Sirens demand that we stop our growing fishing industry and live to their whims. It seems obvious that they are threatening us and these disasters are their doing. And between the dark sorceries they unleash upon us and their aparent desire to see an end to the growth and prosperity of our village it seems clear that with all these rumours recently about a rising darkness, they have sided with chaos and destruction..."

The village chief slumped down into his chair, rubbing his face with one hand. "In truth, even if they have no sided with the dark ones, if they have turned to plaguing us with these attacks, it seems only a matter of time."

-------------------

The peaceful morning came to an abrupt halt for the sirens as a bang rang out from infront of the house, followed only moments later by a crashing of glass from one of the front windows of the cottage, only moments after Keti had walked past. Looking back, there was a small metal ball, perhaps the size of a pea rolling across the floor. A glance out the inwdow revealed a pair of elven men scurrying back down the slope, towards the village.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

As the days went by, Satuma felt more and more restless. Nath was keeping her tied to the group of scholars and not allowing her to go out on the hunts with him. It was frustrating, but then, it was an order, and he was a commanding officer. She did not complain, beyond a single look in the beginning that she knew he would read properly.

It said: "I don't like it, but I'll do it because it's an order."

And so she babysat the intellectuals. At least Azalia was interesting. She had discussed her magical studies and had been pleased to find out that Satuma was not a bad sorceress herself. Magic had been Satuma's second love after engineering, and she was no slouch when it came to fire magic - and even the occasional dark magic spell. She conceded that Azalia was the expert of the two, but at least their common knowledge gave them topics for conversation.

Goron seemed to always be in conference with Jontus, and Soren still clammed up whenever she gazed his way. This had begun to frustrate her as well. She wasn't stupid. She could follow along with the conversations that any of them were having, and yet he always seemed to shut down when she drew near. Jontus was dismissive of Satuma. He obviously didn't want her here, because she was Nath's pick, and Jontus hadn't wanted Nath there either. Satuma wasn't here to win a popularity contest with the Professor so she didn't go out of her way to discuss his topic of expertise.

On the fourth day, up in the mountain passes, Satuma was on guard with her hand cannon at the ready, prepared to find a target should the rock wolves decide to test them. She kept her pace steady and looked over her shoulders to make sure the scholars were keeping up. She smiled reassuringly at Azalia before turning again to be on her guard.

Nae hadn't been expecting much of a reply, she almost felt bad for her lack of enthusiasm in seeking one as well. She didn't mind visiting and Keti seemed happy to deal with her, so the status quo was enjoyable. She watched Keti move into the house with a smile. She sometimes thought she spoke far too much, using the unique situation to talk about things she might not otherwise, like her wish to travel further inland. It would be nice to know what the other Siren really thought though.

Nae didn't have too long to ponder what Keti might be thinking before he returned, and even less time to admire the plum he offered her. The bang was enough to get the fairly skittish siren to jump, the crash that followed had her quickly moving to investigate. She kept her hand on her wand as she found the source of the commotion. She had studied a fair bit, about anything she could learn about the mainland. Judging by the sounds and the metal ball... a firearm?

The siren crossed her arms, her wings drooping a little behind her. "Keti... you don't think?" She called softly, trying to think of a reasonable explanation for all this. She knew the rumours well enough, they were why she was here today, but to think the elves might have tried to hurt Keti. That couldn't be right.

With his shirt removed, the young man's trimmed and well toned physique was revealed, the kind of lean athletic build that was favoured by the predatory race. And on a chain around his neck hung an ornate symbol, by its ostentatious appearance one of some value and importance, although not one familiar to Meaghan.

He leaned back a little more, beckoning her closer with her index finger and a naughty grin plastered across his lips, hunger in his eyes.

Re: The Desecrated Tranquil (Ranger Princess, Aztlan, Keylo, MBS)

When the slender blonde nymph draped her arm around Sylvia, the dryad inched ever so slightly closer. Her fear and uncertainty of contact diminishing as she cradled the little treasure in her arms. Whether it was because of the nymph's otherworldly beauty or her race's natural compassion, it's hard to say, but the truth is that Sylvia felt disarmed by the fair woman, lost in time for but an instant. As the nymph spoke to her, Sylvia's rhododendron rimmed eyes gazed down at the nymph serenely, blinking occasionally. She considered her words carefully. "Something dark and malicious, little nymph. Something that must be purged from these wood." Sylvia paused and gazed up at the suffering old tree, sharing its pain. The agony of the ancient tree pierced her heart, and her fingers clenched instinctively on the nymph's soft blonde hair. "I know not what could inflict such horrendous pain." Then she blinked and said flatly, "I will not let this evil creature harm another tree . . . or a friend, If I can help it."

When the elf siblings addressed her, Sylvia stood and nodded sagely, "I understand." So there were no connections between the survivors and the incident then, or so it seemed. Then Sylvia smiled softly at the return of the faeries. "Fear not elf friends. It seems we have luck on our side this day. A wise forest traveler always remembers the value of a few faery companions for a journey or a hike."

Sylvia pondered the more extra-verted faery's question, but before she could think of an answer, Sylvia noticed the dark haired nymph limping away from the group. Was she hurt? Did she witness the desecration here? Sylvia wasn't sure, nor did she much like the idea of a hurt nymph traveling alone with a dark evil on the loose. With these thoughts in mind, Sylvia walked after the dark haired nymph, attempting to catch up to her with the strides of her long dryad legs, addressing her in her usual inquisitive way. "Is something wrong Miss? Do you have any companions close by? You're welcome to stay here with us . . ." Her voice trailed off, as she gazed at the nymph that looked as if in a daze, wondering what in the world could have put her in such a state. She continued to follow her at least for the time being.

Re: Baptism by Fire (Occam, Squid, Kathy)

'Flow' had been chirping casually and tapping her talons to the ground as she sang an old song to herself about an elven beauty... a dirty song that she only recently became aware of it's full meanings, that her father often sang. Rather than shocked at the revelation of what it meant, she merely glanced at her dad, "Another song about your journeys? Mom know this one too?" The man had grinned widely at her, right until his wife coughed loudly, "Know which one?"

... At boring parts of meetings like this one though, it let her daydream of being like the elven beauty and having songs written about her as well. All of the arguments over the accursed were so terribly bland. Her last three settlements all had spoken of the same things and the same choices. Yet no one ever seemed willing to act on what they discussed.

When the panic over the fire began to erupt, Flow was the first one to her feet, calling out softly, "Stay calm, someone probably tipped a cooking fire. Happened a few times at my parents' tavern... everyone split up and gather the other groups nearby. Fetch as many buckets as you can and bring water!" she glanced around quickly, "And bring weapons just in case some local bandits try to take advantage of the damage. Move swift, the faster we put out the flames, the less damage will be done!"

Experience with situations like this was golden.

Bounding into the sky well ahead of the man who was so narrow minded as to only focus on his family, while at the same time being so rash, she took no hesitation in snatching up her small bag, hooking it about her belt to hold it in place while she flapped hard, flying just high enough to avoid trees and rocks below, but low enough to stay well away from the smoke clouds while she rushed to the scene at a pace that most ground walkers could never hope to keep up with, unhindered by terrain or precarious footholds, or losing traction while running, with the air itself holding her up, her impressive wingspan assured she could arrive well ahead of the others to take stock of the situation.

(Mostly RP fluff, though with maxed AP and the brief discussion we had on movement, I assume she won't be outpaced by any random NPC from the gathering, and at best, other PCs could keep up with her.)

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

(wait, uh, so, the bullet blasts through the glass, pops on through it, and then just sorta plops on the ground by the window, undeformed and out of forward momentum?) (...also, how long are Siren lives, compared to the elves's?)

Keti rushed back out onto the porch, checking to see if Nae was alright. He'd only heard one bang, but another elf might have snuck up closer, or...

It was a short distance from the window to the porch, and Keti found her safe before he could continue the train of thought. He wasn't sure they even knew about her visits... but at the same time, it was an odd thing for this incident to just "coincide" with one of them, infrequent as they were.

Sighing in relief, he went over and sat next to her on the table. He picked up the slate he'd left on the table, and began writing on it with a white stick of chalk. A moment later, he looked her in the eyes and held it up for her:

What's going on? I know there's been trouble be-
tween the school and the village but why did they
come here? I haven't been back in ages!

He waited for an answer; up until his window shattered, he hadn't concerned himself much with the situation that was unfolding, believing - or perhaps hoping - that he would be largely ignored, hidden under the waves of his sea of blossoms.

Clan politics and endless bickering. It was one extra reason for why Kriia preferred not to involve herself with the day to day activities of her kin most of the time. Lately it had seemed to be all they did during her visits. She had little to input into the conversation, and didn't care to side with any of the more opinionated elders leading the argument right now. She did have thoughts of flying out and investigating the matter herself, but didn't really know how she would intend to do so. What did an "accursed" look like anyway? Was it something she could fly out and spear as a trophy? Was it something more insidious? The few myths and histories she'd heard hadn't been given too much thought or attention at the time, and were always rather vague accounts in any right.

Upon the alarmed calls of smoke and fire her attention roused again, hopping up and stepping to the edge to get a better look. Sure enough, lots of smoke. Not giving a second thought to it, she quickly leaps from the ledge, launching open her wings as she drops and swooping down the canyon towards the area. She flies alongside Drago for a while, before forking off to circle the affected area as she watches down to appraise the situation. Naturally taking care to avoid the thick smoke and risking it staining her pristine feathers as she did so.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Azalia spent much of her time conversing with Satuma during the trip, opting not to hunt. She had nothing to study, which made her a little restless, but talking with the young soldier helped her fight off boredom. She was pleased to learn that her companion was a competent mage - not as skilled as the sorceress herself, but fairly knowledgeable. Sharing notes and comparing their experience turned out to be a refreshing experience, and Azalia wondered whether she should have tried to socialize more in her past. Unfortunately, attempting to draw Soren into the discussions usually weren't successful, as he seemed to be unusually wary around Satuma... Pity. He seemed fairly smart. Goron wasn't very talkative either, and professor disliked the presence of soldiers, and focused only on his purpose instead. Typical for old researchers.

Once the group reached the mountains, Azalia's initial excitement over the prospect of studying the ruins died down, but she'd come to appreciate the journey itself. She almost forgot how dangerous it is until the fourth day, when rock wolves finally made their presence known. She heeded Nath's warning, reasoning that the man had enough experience to live in the wilderness and probably knew what he was doing, but remained on guard anyway. She was slightly nervous, though - this was the first time she came across real threats. She knew little about mountain animals, and had to fight an urge to let her hand search for her wand. However, having Nath and Satuma close around was reassuring, so she calmed down and moved on silently, returning the young soldier's smile, albeit a bit weakly.

Nae shook her head a little, still trying to order her thoughts. She hadn't thought all the warnings and rumours more than just a caution. They had always been peaceful with the village, even with the disagreements there had been recently. It was worse for her to imagine Keti having to deal with something like this when he wasn't involved with their people outside of her visits.

"I don't know the details but I heard that they'd been ignoring some of the terms of the agreement we had with them. So those in charge have been lessening the protection we give, trying to make them see sense. I've already been told I shouldn't go to the village." She explained, glancing back to the broken window. "I don't know why they'd bother you. Unless they are just looking for someone to blame."

Nae sighed, fiddling with her dress as she looked down. "I'm sorry. If they know I visit, they might think you're keeping in contact with the rest of us. Maybe I could go explain that so they will leave you alone."

Meaghan let out a soft purr of delight as her fingertips explored the hard edges of his stomach and chest, splaying across well cared for skin. She followed his beckoning finger, sitting herself up again, tongue flicking out across his chest and up to his neck as her hands slowly delved down his back and to his pants.

Re: The Desecrated Tranquil (Ranger Princess, Aztlan, Keylo, MBS)

Akana gazed up at the Dryad, tears still overflowing as she spoke softly

(Shes... Pained by this too... But... How... How can she remain so calm? When it's just so sad?)

Then the Dryad spoke of possibility of happening again and Akana's breath caught, mortified by the thought of such... Horror... Happening again...

Her breath was released as another embrace over takes her from behind and another set of compassionate words worked to try to settle her...

Looking over to this newcomer, Akana watched as she brought her small hands up and ran them through her hair and tells her that it would be allright...

But... Would it?

Akana sniffled and tried to smile in appreciation, but couldn't force more than a weak half smile from the depths of her greif... And then she felt the Dryad pull away...

Akana turned and followed with a quizzical look as the Dryad walks off towards the other Dryad... The one Akana couldn't bring herself to comfort earlier...

With a second sniffle Akana utters a weak "W-wait!" and begins to stand on shakey legs... She wasn't, no, she REFUSED to not be able to help this time...

And keeping the strength giving contact with the fairy as long as she can, she moves, slowly... Towards the fellow Nymph.
