Re: Nine Circles of Hell

core spell: blink - it's a great way to escape some nasty situations, and it might also have other uses, such as bypassing holes in the floor or spots that might be trapped

For now go further down the corridor and find out more about the place

Re: Nine Circles of Hell

Blink and 2 won this round.

You decide to go further down the corridor and find out more about the place. After about a minute you reach end of cavern, and you can see red sky outside. It feels like eternal sunset. As for terrain, all you can see are hills, with plains on them, but everywhere you look all you can think about is this soil is way too dry for anything to grow on it.

You hear some children voices coming from behind nearby hill, so you decide, to check on them, but since you are in hell you're gonna aproach it carefully. After getting close you can see 3 small winged figures. You remember reading about them in your previous life, they must be imps, small nasty demons, who eat magical energy, but are very weak.

What are you gonna do:
1. Move away
2. Approach them and try to talk with them
3. Attack them - how?

Rolls:
listen: d20 + int = 14 + 6 = success
move silently: d20 + dex = 13 + 4
remember: d20 + wis = 17 + 5 = success

3. We need to grind! And if we can't beat some imps, how the hell are we going to get anywhere without getting violated constantly?

Use frost bolt on the middle one.

Re: Nine Circles of Hell

You decide you're gonna attack them, while they still haven't noticed you, casting frost bolt on middle one. But it instinctely move away from it, still taking some damage. Then it shouts:
"Who was that? How dare you shoot me? Show yourself, or we are gonna find you and make you regret it!"
Seems like they haven't noticed where frost bolt came from, but it's only a matter of time before they find you, so:

1. continue attacking
2. go out and apologise
3. run away

Rolls:
fail cast?: 1d20 = 10 = success
frost bolt dmg: 1d4 + int/2 = 3 + 3
imp avoid?: 1d20 + imp's dex vs 1d20 + int + 10(suprise attack) = 20+? vs 5+6+10 = imp succes, it takes half dmg
imp spot?: 1d20 + imp int = 13+?

1. Minor shadow bolt the damaged one. Follow that up by blinking to another hiding spot to attack from.

I like this. It allows us to do damage without using a spell charge, confuses the enemy on out position, and the lower spell damage could possibly help us determine a reasonably close to exact HP value of the imps.

Re: Nine Circles of Hell

You just continue attacking, casting minor shadow bolt on weakened imp, who falls down on impact. This time other 2 imps notice where shot came from and start running toward you. So you decide to move to another cover, running and blinking behind a hill. Afterwards you start casting another minor shadow bolt on 1 of the imps, hitting him just as they get to your previous hiding place. You continue with yet another minor shadow bolt, but before you could finish the cast imps get to you, trying to grapple you. The one, that you haven't yet attacked succeeds in catching you:
"Now what do we have here, poor defenceless girl, who killed our friend. Beg for your life!"

So what do you do:
1. Blink out and continue attacking,
2. Wriggle out of grapple and continue attacking
3. Beg for your life

Rolls:
fail cast?: 9 = success
imp avoid?: 9+? vs 12+6+10 = nope, takes int/2 dmg (3)
imp spot?: 16+?
fail cast?: 4 = success
imp avoid?: 13+? vs 16+6+10 = full damage
imp1 grapple: 1d20 + imp's str vs 1d20 + DEX or STR (whichever is higher) = 1+? vs 14+4 = fail
imp2 grapple: 6+? vs 2+4 = success

Re: Nine Circles of Hell

1. Blink out to another hiding spot, but if you can, before you continue attacking take off your rags. They do nothing for your defense, and won't prevent you getting violated, but we can use them offensively once we're down to one imp.

If we can take the damaged one down before they get to us again, throw the rags in the face of the final imp as a distraction. Minor shadow bolt to the face, followed up with a tackle. If possible, get hold of the rags and try to get them around the imp's neck, and get behind him. If you can hold him there long enough, use another minor shadow bolt, point blank, on the base of his skull. This bit is obviously contingent on being able to get the rags off.

Bah, girl needs to check her priorities! XP
Even if they see her naked, they'll be dead in a moment and it won't matter, but if they win, they'll see her naked, and spit-roast her! Much bigger hit to her self respect. Though I suppose that isn't exactly going through her head. XD
