Re: Games Discussion Thread

At least you get a few different weapons. I bought a spectre pack and that deluxe spectre pack today. BOTH included the Claymore. It's on level 4 now. True, I also unlocked the Widow, but I went back to the Raptor (IV) recently. Once you stop seeing it as a sniper rifle and start using it as an assault rifle, it's actually pretty good. Also, the Predator pleasantly surprised me recently. Almost fully upgraded and with ammo and damage mods, it's a good choice for cqc.

Haha, I spent most of my time playing using the mantis and still do with any class that isn't infiltrator, the extra damage on the widow isn't worth the reduction to cooldown bonus yet. I know where you're coming from though, I've got like 5 power resets and I've never used a single one because I know exactly what I want each class to do.

This is exactly what I hate about random drops, I always end up with equipment I don't want, or don't use. A buy what you want system with higher prices would have made me happy.

So apparently Not sure if legit. If it is, though, it still sucks that we have to wait till summer. And even then, it doesn't sound like they'll completely revamp the ending, just add to it. It's a start, at least.

Also, I finally started my playthrough on Insane, and it certainly lives up to its name. That very first N7 mission where you grab the artifacts from Cerberus killed me about a dozen times.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

If they explain and fix the many plotholes instead of the "shove the ending and knock out for lunch" then I can accept it

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Well, they've got their hands full fixing the multiplayer events apparently. Some sort of exploit with the commendation and victory packs allowed players to either take them from others, or just get multiples, not really clear on that.

I was one of the foolish people who didn't log on and wait all day till the pack showed up (thanks for the intermittent, shitty, times to release these bioassholes) so I got fucked and didn't get to recieve either.

Someone online told me there was an exploit wherein you play though bronze and then game the system such that you repeatedly play through the last wave of a gold match, and basically repeat until you have all the money you want. so they've got work to do, apparently.

Fuckin SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. I love fully customizeable mechs, instead of basic body + weapons choices.

As far as the gold credits hack on ME3 goes, it only works if you all die on round 10, and since the stupid fucks start on bronze.... lol, I love when I get in a game with people trying to do this, most of my classes are still low level from last weekend's event, but I can still solo whatever's remaining after they've died and ruin their attempt.

Yup. Due to the extra versatility that the full hardpoint/critical-space mech lab will bring back, I can't help but wonder what bizarre designs we'll end up seeing on the field. Or at least on the outer/minor worlds where territory is not at stake. Anyone else try messing around with getting Firefly's sprinting at 300mph in MW3? I'm also liking the addition of the Awesome as the lasted mech unveiled. The line up so far is kind of reminiscent of the machines available in Mech Commander. Commandos, Centurions, Hunchbacks, Catapults, Awesomes and Atlas. Just need a Raven in there now.

What I really want however... is a Loki or Vulture. Though we'll have to wait a good while until the clans start getting involved if I'm reading the timeline stuff and the developers intentions correctly.

Regarding Mass Effect multi. I'd actually only ever played silver up until recently, when I accidentally joined a bronze game without any thought to it. There I was thinking I was being super badass, and slowly wondering more and more why it all seemed so easy. Derp.

Also, Human Soldier + Pulse Rifle + Capacity Upgrade-X = never having to reload. Started doing a roaming circuit past each ammo stash area, just walking and shooting virtually the whole way. Was amusing.

Four fast recharge vanguards in one match is also hilarious. As are four melee specialised Krogan sentinels. Charge brutes and headbutt them to death. Or four Salarian engineers in formation, deploying cloak and then spinning on the spot shooting. Much fun and silliness.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Speaking of the multiplayer, the expansion DLC for that is coming soon, and it will be free. There'll be 1 new option for every class, two new maps and a few new weapons.

I predict the two geth classes will catch quite a bit of friendly fire. Also, the Krogan vanguard will be ridiculously imbalanced.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I'm waiting on the Marauder, Hellhound, or Osiris myself. Osiris is a nice light and in the timeframe, and Marauder is another personal favorite that personally, I REALLY want to see how they redesign o,o Hellhound meanwhile is a personal favorite of mine.

Mhmm. The Hellhound is a favourite of mine too. Really versatile and looks swish to boot. Though being a clanner mech it's going to be one of those ones released latter whenever they do the clan invasion stuff. Will have to wait.

From what I can (very vaguely) recall, I think it was either the Marauder or the Warhammer that came first in the 75tonner poll. Either way I'm happy. I'm not sure if the Marauder even needs a modern redesign really. It's always looked great from day one. The Warhammer also. The general shape is already perfect how it is, so any design work from FD will just be detailing and minor style fluff as far as I'm seeing it. One of the best looking older chassis around I think.

It seems a bit of a shame to me that the Orion came last place in the polls, but (according to some stuff on the forums) there's actually a shortage of Inner Sphere heavy class mechs in the time perioid that aren't excluded due to political fluff I don't understand. So it's quite likely whatever heavy mechs make the cut for the games release, the runners up will follow in the next few content patches shortly enough anyway. Which is good, since I quite like the Orion for some reason. It just seems like the big older brother of the Centurion or something.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I think, by far, the biggest limitation to what we're gonna be seeing early in the game is the factor that clans won't nessisarily be available right at the launch, at least if they stick to Real Time 1:1 Inner Sphere Time. As some people pointed out, they may speed up the timeline at strategic points in the 'story', but even still, back at the tail-end of the Succession Wars, there wasn't many of the more well-known designs (Madcat comes to mind), or many of the major technological advances. (I'm gonna miss my ER lazors x,x; )

EDIT: Quickly dug up the listing of mechs available in the timeline (And with the restrictions of Inner Sphere Only/Etc.

DOUBLE POST LUL!

Scuttlebutt says there's been recent activity related to Exteel, a NCSoft F2P MMO I used to run around that had the plug pulled ages ago. If they make a Exteel revival... fuckin a, my childhood of the internet years would explode O_O

Bit Trip Runner is a hard ass game, but it's so damn fun.

Also replaying Persona 3, at the Fuuka arc.

As for the ME3 talk, haven't played it but watched all the variant endings on the net. Holy shit, that was a terrible way to end a game. Plus the plotholes it opens that hundreds of angry nerds have pointed out don't help. That's Rockstar ending bad, good lord.

Don't forget to BUY MOAR DLC. Because maybe if EA/Bioware make enough money, they'll stop shitting in our cereal and give us a decent ending.

Also apparently they're trying to appease us by giving out the april 10th MP DLC for free. But wait! It doesn't include ANY bugfixes, just new crap (because what I need is 6 more characters to get xp/appearance cards for, instead of an end to my vanguard clipping through levels, or the reave sound not constantly playing when I've got a drell on my team) to keep you from getting the stuff you actually want. And no, MP stuff will never make up for storyline deficiencies in a game I bought for the SP.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

More ignorance of previously-established lore? Surely not!
It might seem like nitpicking, but when you make a statement about a major power in your sci-fi universe you fucking make sure you stick to it - and if you don't, you give a goddamn reason as to why you're contradicting it.
That really is starting to seem like nitpicking now. I believe Legion was referring to the fact that Geth do not infiltrate societies and cultures with spies and the such. An infiltrator class is really just a battlefield sniper in the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer class system... so not really infiltrating as I believe Legion meant it.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

My point is, that if you buy a couch and when it arrives it's got a few holes chewed in it and a couple of the springs are busted, having the company send you a new foot-stool doesn't address the problem. While it's nice that they've sent you the stool, you've still got a crappy couch. And all the while it's making that reave sound.

As far as the reliability of gaming media is concerned... I stopped reading any of it once I discovered gamefaqs some 10 years ago (I think), screenshots are nice, but they don't replace honest (or maybe not, but at least they're not getting paid to write them) opinions from multiple gamers.
