Re: [Flash] アクション/xsoulsia/Narrow Magic Castle Ekusorushia (trial V2.1 out now!)
Well,i've got to say that i'm kind of interested in this game...After trying the demo it seems somewhat promising, since the author clearly had some interesting ideas which are implemented in a preety strange way...
The gameplay is a bit clunky, and as some people said the animations are weird, but those aren't really flaws that one can't get past, and aren't really gamebreaking.I don't know about you guys but because this game feaures some really interesting stuff i am willing to look past it's clunkines...
So seeing how i spent some time trying the demo i can share some useful info about the mechanics of the game since i haven't really seen anyone talk about the gameplay of the game around here...
So first some general info:
1 - FP: This reperesents your characters hunger level...Now some of you might wonder what purpose does that serve in a game like this.Well it basically serves to limit your ability to spam usage of healing items...It's working well with the fact that you've got two kinds of healing items and those are Food items and Potions...Food is a more common drop from enemies and cheaper to buy but every time you use it it will satisfy your hunger a bit, until you can't eat any...FP decreases naturally over time with your every action. To go around the issue of FP just use potions for a while(those don't affect FP,but be careful as those aren't that common and aren't cheap).
2 - Spirit bar, weapon specials and mics info: Okay so in this game you've got a few ways to increase your power...First one is to level up which enchances your Atk,Def and Max HP in a preety standard way,and another way is to level up your weapons(well just one weapon in the demo). What that means is that you've got experience level for each weapon separately from the overall experience.Killing with your weapon levels up your weapon and introduces new moves and weapon specific abilities which on use consume your spirit bar(this kind of reminds me of Vagrant Story's weapon system). To use weapon abilities press the F button to charge/infuse your weapon with one spirit orb which will consume it(spirit recharges slowly over time).Note that while you are charging your weapon you don't have to stand still and can and will have to move, especially when encountering bosses.Another important fact is that if you try to attack something while the charging is in progress it will cancel it.
Now seeing how i only used the first knife ability,i don't know what ability does the second level give, but i can only guess that it will possibly require 2 spirit orbs to use or something like that...
3 - Some more mics info: During the course of the game you will encounter merchants who will sell you various stuff including but not limited to food, drinks(drinks fill out your hunger slightly less than food),potions(healing ones, overdrive ones, and so on) and last but not least new accessories(expensive and seemingly useless stuff like the ability to undress various articles of clothing and dress other weirder ones, although besides the undressing items the other ones don't really work in the demo or are downright locked) and abilities(very rare and expensive).
4 - Overdrive mode: This thing is activated by a certain potion and is your most important offensive tool...It puts you in an overdrive mode for a certain period of time. While it lasts it will double your running speed and will easily tripple your attack power in exchange for slowly draining your health(it drains something like 1HP every 3 seconds so it's still well worth the use). It's usage is highly recommended in boss encounters and will save you quite a few potions that you could have wasted on those stupid overgrown foes...Using one of those i managed to kill the boss which you can't even scratch normally in about 3 minutes without being hit even once...This way you can kill it with normal attacks i a jiffy without having to resort to the whole "slide to evade/charge weapon to damage it" routine which takes quite a bit of time and is harder to pull off IMO...
5 - EP: This stat is preety straightforward...It represents your char's sexual sensitivity/pleasure(yes it's both of those things at the same time since it affects both the main char and the thing screwing her).Other than having an effect on H scenes it doesn't really do anything else(not in the demo at least).
6 - Some tips: Ignore stupid spiders as they only give one experience point plus don't drop anything aside from 1 yen or the occasional 10 yens(although they still give one weapon experience point as all the other enemies so they can possibly be used for easy weapon power-upping).
Whenever you see those annoying spearthrowers get as near to them as you can and kill them as quick as you can,and if you see them starting to throw their spear duck quickly and it will fly over your head without hurting you.
Avoid the green spiders...Those things need only hit you once and you're screwed...
7 - As soon as yo get the double jump your mobility will greatly improve...
Ok so that's about all that i have to say about the mechanics/gameplay of the game. This is just some general info on how the game actually works since i haven't really seen any info about that here so it will at the very least let people who haven't tried it know what to expect...
