The basic concept here is the same as the previous games. 2 rounds of combat, with the second round being more difficult. "Winning" the game results in a bit of narration and then dumps you back to the main menu. There's a scantily-clad girl on the screen, but most of the attacks would be more "painful" than "titillating" - there's no real sexual content.
Note: in "select mode" combat, you must use the Shift key (or LMB) to select an attack. The usual keys (Enter, Spacebar, z, x, c, etc) won't do anything.
Differences (compared to author's previous games):
- keyboard controls seem to be more responsive. The gameplay still requires fast reflexes, but it feels a bit more "fair"
- "attack" and "defend" markers are much more recognizable (as a colorblind person, I'm grateful for this - I had trouble distinguishing them in the previous games)
- mostly new content; I recognized only a few recycled animations
- animations are smoother
- the male fighter model (for third-person view scenes) is a bright blue wireframe which I found to be a bit distracting; I prefered the "generic anime dude"
- more multi-stage attacks. In some cases you can score big damage by hitting the prompts correctly, or you can escape the girl's counterattack by succeeding at a later prompt. Missing all of the prompts usually puts you into a submission hold.
- there's one special submission combo which can't be escaped by button-mashing alone (you do the button-mashing, but then you need to press the correct attack key - otherwise you get knocked right back into another submission move)
- the difficulty is adjustable (this seems to adjust the size of the "reaction window"). Hard mode is cruel and it offers no additional rewards for victory.
- optional mouse control. To escape a submission hold when using the mouse, click LMB and RMB in succession. It's much slower than keyboard button-mashing, though.
