Re: Crisis Point: Extinction - Metroidvania H-game - NEW PUBLIC UPDATE! (May 25th)

Only if you are using a full 3d engine. Those of us "3d guys" who use pre-rendered sprites like what HoTB and my work use are pretty much in the same boat as 2d artists. While in some cases you "only" have to add clothes (which is still time consuming as you said) and re-render, you are still bloating the file size (larger sprites to begin with and we usually use more frames), and obviously you have to wait that much longer for the extra animations to render. Don't really think we come out ahead. Not arguing or anything, just pointing it out.
True about the render time, that's definitely true, hand drawn stuff doesn't really have severe render times AFAIK unless it has a ton of in-program effects (like photoshop stuff etc.) but pixel art usually doesn't have that, haha.

That said though, rendering is something you can setup and then leave or let go overnight, which is what I usually do with my video work :p

Re: Crisis Point: Extinction - Metroidvania H-game - NEW PUBLIC UPDATE! (May 25th)

After watching the game over scene for the first boss, I went back to actually fight it and this happened:
FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: Room Start
for object objBoss1_Block:

Unable to find any instance for object index '121819'
at gml_Object_objBoss1_Block_Other_4
Getting this error too after going for a rematch against the worms. That said, them worms got some kinky belly action!

Also dunno if the engine would allow this, but I noticed that getting to the worms when you're a bit damaged doesn't help the fight all that much. Any chance that the slimes before the boss room get a higher health globe drop chance (Or make a recolor'd version of the slimes that drop them easier)? Unless of course punishing us for our crappy platforming skills is all part of your evil master plan :p?

It's just my opinion, no need to get anal about it. Why is there black borders on your game? You have a demo version and a full version? or you just half ass your game entirely?
You call your posts here a fuckin' opinion? Not only are the things you ask for unrealistic expectations, but you're throwing around an awful lot of 'you should do this' and 'your current stuff is crap, do what I want or you will fail' for someone simply giving their opinions. I never even insulted you, man. I was fully willing to accept that we just have different fetishes and opinions, and then you come back into my topic and start flinging shit around, telling me I'm half-assing my game?

There's no "demo version" and "full version"; the game is still in development, nothing is finished, and I'm releasing everything I do as I do it because I actually value other people's opinions. Even yours. As for your other question, there are black borders because you're running the game in fullscreen. If there weren't borders, the game would be stretched out to a horribly unnatural aspect ratio that would make it look about as pretty as you.

@mayaktheunholy - Can you use the gamepad customization feature at all? I was hoping clicking the left stick and right stick would be universally the same no matter what controller you used, but if that doesn't work for you, then I'll set up a keyboard shortcut for gamepad customization to see if that would work any better. If I can avoid people having to use an external program for gamepad controls, I'd prefer it.

@Everyone else - Thanks for the bug reports, guys. My apologies to Valgo if I came across as rude or anything, it certainly wasn't my intention. I'd like to have multiple states of clothing destruction too, if it was at all reasonable.

Could not use it at all, it just doesn't seem to recognize it. When the message saying "press select on the controller you wish to use" comes up, no button or combination of buttons on the controller will make it go away. I waited a while too in case it was taking some time to calibrate. The game isn't frozen completely as enter and esc still function, but I had to exit the game and start it back up to play. With that prompt up, normal keyboard controls don't respond. Is there a way to dismiss it without controller input? Might be something to think about if not.

Yeah, I for one understand just how much work different levels of clothing destruction for h scenes would be, so I don't even ask.

Rude, nah man. Not at all. There is only one rude person in this thread an we all know who it is. ;)

Btw: Gamepad worked nicely for me. Used my 360 Controller.
I guess it really depends on the sort of Controller you use if it works or not.

shh it's okay little one. It was a simple question and thanks for your info. Your game does look badass btw. just the fetishes a bit basic compared to what I'm used to. You should make real games. No joke. This feels more like a game to run around colllecting badass items and such like Zelda. Sorry I misunderstood your motives. My first post was kind of a hate message I'll admit. But that was because I thought you were actually charging money for people to play your game because I thought since there was black borders. And not borders for aspect ratio. There's literally parts in the game where you cannot go. My question was regarding if this was a demo or the real thing. Since you're a humble game maker/ gamer instead of an extortionist. You have my full support and respect.

Oh, those were the black bars you were talking about? I thought you meant the black bars on the side of the screen when you enter fullscreen. You aren't too far off the mark, but they aren't there because there's a "premium" version of the game, just because the rooms beyond those black walls aren't in the game yet. Once I make those rooms, the black bars will be removed.

Just so there's no confusion, once the game is FINISHED it will cost money - probably somewhere in the $10-15 range - and right now I do have a Patreon campaign running where people can donate to me if they like what I'm doing. However, I have no intention of charging money for a demo.

@sorrow4444 - You can go ahead and ignore the black ball for now. That's just the second boss, but he wasn't finished and you can't fight him in v.11. Just keep going left and you'll find a new powerup.

@Valgo - Yeah, the controller I'm using is a PS3 controller set up to emulate a 360 controller. It should work with either PS3, PS4, 360, or Xbone controllers to my knowledge, and I'll try to find a way to make customization work for all types of controllers if possible.

If you are granting him support and respect, then spend the one second it takes to press the up arrow on your keyboard a few times so that you can delete the first part of your message ("shh it's okay little one"), where you are an abrasive jackass.

Take pride in your words and in how you communicate with people. If you don't give enough of a shit to go back and change stuff you later realized was rude, then don't expect people to give enough of a shit to put up with you, let alone entertain your opinions.

You'd be stupid not to. The game has some pretty good potential so far, so I'd be more than willing to dish out that amount if it means ya get to work on other project of this quality without having to worry about money (Or, well, worry less about money).

LMAO im agnostic dude, what the shit are you even talking about with "impersonation" also? and then you talk about jesus actually existing as well as heaven?

Anyone want to put 10 to 1 this is that dude who typed horribly and was on drugs or whatever else and couldn't stop mentioning how much he hated loli? I thought he got banned or something, but mods, could you check to see if this guy is a previously banned member?

He just seems nonstop butthurt about everything, lmao

You should make real games. No joke. This feels more like a game to run around colllecting badass items and such like Zelda. There's literally parts in the game where you cannot go. My question was regarding if this was a demo or the real thing. Since you're a humble game maker/ gamer instead of an extortionist. You have my full support and respect.
I don't even know where to begin ripping this post apart, lol

-Porn games are "real games" just as much as anything else. I'd even argue most AAA titles today are less "real games" than the stuff being made on this forum given how little they put effort into doing anything different from last year's model.

-How is a metroidvania anything like zelda? lmao

-Yes, there's parts in the game you can't go because it's a demo, lol. You just pointed it out in your own post.

-5 bucks says you bought garbage AAA stuff that is far more "extortion" than a game that someone is working their ass off on, for what equates to below minimum wage despite working hours a day on it.

You're either an idiot or a troll, and if the former, I feel sorry for you, if the latter, you're pretty bad at it; either way, yeah, just no lol

So when the game comes out officially, would you mind if I pay over paypal instead? I just don't trust most sites for real credit info ect.
PayPal is infinitely more scammy than Patreon or any other money processing site out there; they not only ream you in fees for any transactions they do, they aren't even actually abiding entirely by the law in America, using shady operations to get stuff the way they like it by having the rights to basically freeze/hold your money for any reason they like.

Only in the EU does PayPal act remotely like an actual bank/money handler, and even then they're still scammy. Patreon, with a credit card, is infinitely more safe/reliable than PayPal, period.

If you are granting him support and respect, then spend the one second it takes to press the up arrow on your keyboard a few times so that you can delete the first part of your message ("shh it's okay little one"), where you are an abrasive jackass.
Also, this.

We'll he was kind of getting super upset for no real reason, so I stand by what I said. but that's okay, you're little too. you two are both so cute :)
lmao he had every reason to get upset. like, seriously? do you have an inability to pick up basic social cues and functions or what?

Yeah, Hentai, you're using waaaaay too much energy talking to him. He's either a total moron or fishing for flaming, possibly even both, I'd really suggest just ignoring him and reporting him for trolling/harassing if he keeps at it.

Unless of course you enjoy these kinds of discussions, in which case, can't really stop ya, but trolls feed on these kinds of arguments :p.

Stop feeding the troll guys. Yeah, I'm not entirely sure if he's trolling or just not cognizant of the socially inappropriate/condescending things he's saying, but he doesn't deserve attention; it's disrespectful to Anon that we're even giving him the time of day since we're all aware of WTF's idiosyncrasies.

Anon42, man this is some spectacular game. Finally finished this version (I refuse to use the teleporters though they're a helpful touch), and though it took a WHILE, here are my thoughts (Warning: Wall of Text incoming)...some have already been touched on:

Map:
REALLY grateful for the map/mini-map. I used to get so lost that it literally took hours to find out where I was going in the previous versions; I even took to writing down a map to remind myself where I've been and where I was. An in-game reminder really helps. However, I'm still wishing the map wasn't so expansive. Even when I wasn't lost, it took a fair amount of time to get from one place to another in order to progress. There are huge areas which just don't add anything (I'm not talking about unfinished areas), and others which lead to maze-like roundabouts (don't ask me, I don't remember where). Don't get me wrong, I love content, but perhaps secrets, powerups, or some sort of reward would justify how big this map is, I suppose.

Checkpoints:
REALLY thankful for the checkpoints. Yes, it took hours without a map, but even longer after I had to restart every time I died (and THEN try to find my way around after re-completing my progress). The game isn't impossible, but it's not the easiest either, since enemies respawn and since it's such a huge game. At the very least, if I die, I can just start from where I left off.

Anims:
Absolutely liked the new anims. I'm not crazy about boob inflation and I hoping you could do some sort of milking anim in the future to compensate, but it's so thoughtful to implement it into all the existing anims, and I could definitely see your thought process when you put each enemy into a sectioned room (fly/gunman/purple tentacles) with the vine tentacles to demonstrate each new anim separately. It must have taken a hell of a time to do in terms of spriting and animating, and it's something small that gamers can appreciate.

Enemies:
I'm loving the enemies you've already placed in the game, and I'm sure you've already got my suggestion in your head, but I'd like to see enemy diversity in your stages. The slimes, gunmen, and tentacles are fairly ubiquitous throughout, and the flies appear relatively regularly later on. But I'm not seeing much of the newer ones--the boob suckers, the cum-shooting stickies, and the boob-inflating tentacles (and I miss the blue guys...I loved their anims and it's nice to see a humanoid in there, other than the crazed gunman, who doesn't have penetration anims; sometimes I try to complete the entire demo just to see their anims again). It's obviously since those enemies are newer, and of course, I get the reasoning behind the vine tentacles, but just something to think about. Waiting for a new boss too...and perhaps some anims for the first boss? Pretty please? :D (The loss of sound from the gunman anim is fairly noticeable too, but I'm sure you're fixing it).

Some final miscellaneous thoughts too:
1.) Ever thought about putting up a leveling system for Alicia? Enemies that provide EXP could offer a reason to kill them (farming) rather than just running through them, since most can just be avoided. Maybe you could upgrade or do something with Alicia's kick? I never use that thing and am wondering what you intend to do with it.

2.) I'm a CG guy. Just my own wishlist, but I'd be blown away if you'd throw in a gallery and a Game Over screen for each enemy. I remember you discussing this before and forgot what your response was ('too much work' would've been a good response). All the same, while it may be contradictory, I dislike games that rely on GoR, and I appreciate that I don't need to force Alicia to commit suicide every time I want to see the goodies (e.g. she doesn't lose health when getting raped). So yeah, you do you, I guess I'm a little conflicted here. :p

3.) Story. Not many platformers have one, and you can tell from my leveling suggestion that I'm more of an RPGer, but I think you can weave an intriguing yarn from this game. I'm more excited about the prospect of this than anything else.

Anyway, every time I think your game can't get better, you prove me wrong. It's still just a demo but IMHO, it's better than 90% of the H-games I've played (sorry all the rest, again, just my opinion)...and you're still not showing any signs of slowing down or quitting. Phenomenal job, Anon. Hah, I was going to jump on Patreon to support now since you've shown this much work, but I'm wondering why I can't just wait until the full game is finished and I'd pay the $10-15 then? (Just curious on the incentive of paying $5 per month vs paying double or triple for just one time).

Oh, and if this is too much to read, just ignore me. I'm in awe of your progress and even if you don't take/read my suggestions, I'm happy with how this is turning out. Btw, I keep every iteration of this game in my library and I tried out the first game a little while ago (before I played 1.1) just to see how far you've come, since I was lurking this thread from the beginning. Dude, it's ridiculous. You should try your first one when you've got time.

Well jeez man, thank you so much! Sorry it took a bit to respond to you, I was busy yesterday, but I'd like you to know that I read this comment after a particularly shitty day and it really helped perk me up a bit, so thank you for that! I'll respond to the things you said in order.

I'm glad you like the addition of the map! It's definitely something I didn't want to put off for long, considering how big the game world is becoming. As far as secrets and powerups and such, I definitely plan on adding a bunch of them in, they're just not super high on my priority list right now compared to actually making more content. I guess that's just one of the curses of having every element of a game's development go public :p Lots of unfinished stuff gets shown around. As for the maze-like roundabouts, a lot of them are actually there as shortcuts once you get powerups like the double jump. You'll be revisiting many areas later in the game, so I designed the areas with that in mind ahead of time.

Glad to know the checkpoints have been useful for you! I plan on also refilling Alicia's HP when you enter a checkpoint room, as well. I might rebalance the enemy damage around that fact too.

Never thought about a milking animation, but it's on my list of fetishes now, so I'll keep it in mind! You'd be right about it though, the breast expansion definitely adds a lot of extra animation work, but that's fine. This is my job anyway :p

Lots of enemies will, in general, show up in many different areas. The main problem right now is that I don't HAVE a lot of different types of enemies to throw around, so I gotta make do. The three newer enemies you mentioned don't ever do direct damage to Alicia, so they have to work in tandem with the other enemies. The blue guys will be showing up again later, they're planned for the 4th area of the game, and we're in the 3rd area right now. Sometime in the next several months, maybe! Don't worry though, there are more humanoids coming. The first boss DOES have animations though, you have to die against it and you get to see its H-scene (as long as you don't have Vore turned off.) Second boss probably won't have its H-scene for v.12, but I won't be cutting off public updates until the second boss is completed and its H-scene is fully finished. The soldier's animations DO actually have sound, just not Alicia moaning. I can't imagine she would make much noise while getting titfucked, lol.

I've thought about a leveling system, yeah, but I decided against it. It doesn't really fit the game at all. Powerups are found and acquired through exploration, not combat - if you choose to dodge around enemies rather than fighting them, that's fine. As long as there's still some challenging in running from enemies, and it doesn't just trivialize the whole game, that's what matters. I'm not doing that much with Alicia's kick, honestly - it's mostly just there to be there - but I do have something planned at least that will hopefully make it more useful later on. No official word on that yet.

CGs are something that won't come until much later. It's not that they're too much effort, just that I'm a terrible artist, honestly - I can pixel pretty well, but if you give me a pen and paper (or even a tablet) I'm just going to flounder around and the best thing I could make is a stickman. If CGs are eventually added, it'll be because I earned enough money from Patreon to commission them from somebody. As far as unlocking them, if I do have CGs, they'll be unlocked in the gallery after you get sexed up by an enemy for the first time, not after you die. The only GoR that will ever be in this game will be the boss fights.

Story WILL happen, it's just (again) not high priority right now. Lots of decisions I've made are for lore reasons, though, so story is definitely something that matters to me, you just can't really see it yet :p

For your last question, there is absolutely nothing saying you can't wait until the game is released then pay for it. There are two main benefits to being a Patron; the first of which is that you support the development of the game, and the second is that you'll continue to get beta downloads (assuming you're pledging at the $10 or higher tier). After v.13 (probably - whenever the second boss is finished), I'm not going to be releasing beta downloads to the public anymore. Instead, I'm going to be making text updates, screenshots, and livestreams public, but only Patrons will get access to the beta. This is because I plan to sell Crisis Point once it's completed, and if I released an 80% complete version of the game to the public, who would ever bother to buy it? :p At the same time though, I don't want to cut off people who can't/won't be patrons completely, so I'll keep them involved in other ways.

Anyway, thank you again for all of your kind words! It's no stretch to say that comments like this are one of the main things that keep me going, so really, thank you. It means a lot! :)

@wtfdudeomg - I have no information right now about how you'll be able to purchase Crisis Point once it's completed, unfortunately. I've never sold an adult product before, so there are a lot of unknown factors to me. We'll see what happens.
