Re: Crisis Point: Extinction - Metroidvania H-game - NEW PUBLIC UPDATE! (April 25th)

If you do these types of animations. You will earn a lot more players to your official product including me.
Yes, and he'd also turn off just as many people; making your game as "far out there" as possible does not = more sales.

There's always a balance at play when it comes to making entertainment; if you appeal mainly to the niche markets, you turn off the mainstream market, and vice versa.

Even more so, some of the stuff you're asking like "no frame drops" would be impossible because people don't all have super-computers; people will inevitably get frame drops on any given game no matter how it's programmed, haha.

agreed
i think thrice about playing a game which contains any kind of futa, or even worse to me is gore
certain things turn me personally so hard off that i cant enjoy playing on after seeing that (specially gore/ super painful violation [like nipple penetration...autsch])

Re: Crisis Point: Extinction - Metroidvania H-game - NEW PUBLIC UPDATE! (April 25th)

These sex scenes are very generic, You should take more advice from people quoting you. Put in like insects that inject their stinger into the vagina with birth after of larva ect. This kind of thing is freaky but it's totally out of this world which makes it something to really enjoy. Also you should have like a mutated human chick that gets corrupted and becomes a futanari chick that rapes the main character as a scene. a Facehugger from aliens latching on her face or vagina and inserting alien eggs inside with inflation and then deflate screaming as she's giving birth. If you do these types of animations. You will earn a lot more players to your official product including me. The way things sounds it seems pretty generic and I could find both a video or another H game that could easily replace what you've made. Do things not many others have done. And even outshine the ones that have done it with full animations without any frame drops. So it looks realistic as possible.
Well, you're welcome to have your own opinion man, but at the same time I hope you can respect the fact that I don't have to do it. And I don't plan on it. Just because you're into some hardcore fetishes doesn't mean everybody is, and it's not necessarily something I'm comfortable animating - especially the 'screaming birth' part. Jesus, I can't fathom why people get off to the thought of a girl being in obvious tremendous pain.

If you think my plans and my game are generic, fine, makes no difference to me. The money I earn on Patreon is proof enough that other people like what I'm doing. I'd like to call you out on what particular bit of that quote, though: "I could find both a video or another H game that could easily replace what you've made." So after giving me a suggestion of something you'd like to see, you're going to insult and belittle all of the work I've put into this? Exactly how often does that work out for you when you ask people to do things you want?

FYI, the insect scene ends with inflation because it DOES insert an egg into her, and she is going to have a birth scene with it - just not yet, I haven't animated it and it's not super high priority for me. There will also be futanari scenes, though not with a "mutated human chick". (For those of you who don't like the sound of those things, don't worry - there will be an option to turn them both off, and you won't have to see them.)

Final note, next time maybe not quite something from the very beginning of the topic. LOTS of things have changed since then and if you're trying to make a point, you're better off not arguing with the past.

Re: Crisis Point: Extinction - Metroidvania H-game - NEW PUBLIC UPDATE! (April 25th)

I'm in agreement with Hentaiwriter and Anon; just because something appeals to you doesn't immediately make it appealing to the masses, and any dev shouldn't conform his or her style to any individual taste. Furthermore, as Hentaiwriter said, even if it DOES appeal to some people, you can just as easily turn off some people and as a result, lose even more consumers than you'd gain for a particular cult fetish. We don't all like scat, guro, futa, injection, birthing or whatever, and there are particular niches that one can find for those fetishes; I mean, absolutely no knock on those sorts of people, but everyone needs to understand that not everyone likes the same thing and one's fetish is another's disgust. (I appreciate you giving us the ability to turn those fetishes off btw, Anon. Nice touch).

On the topic of creativity and being avant garde, just because it's out there and different doesn't mean it'll be well-received. Creators follow a formula, adhere to a standard, or emulate another's style simply because it works and sells. IMHO, I don't even think Anon is like this anyway, because I see the effort he puts into game design, gameplay, sex scenes and whatnot; he's taking what is previously established as successful and putting his own style and personal twists on it, which is how art works. The level of feedback he's getting here (both encouraging and constructive), and how he's receiving it (case in point his response to you, WTF), as well as how his Patreon is organized, just displays how supportive the community is for his games. I don't think Anon's work is perfect (I'd like to see more in regards to storyline rather than a mere platformer), but hey, first of all, it's a free beta, and second, Anon's doing this nearly all by himself, funded by donations. Respect. For those two reasons, it's not going to be better than polished, full games with teams of specialized individuals working on them...not yet at least. And don't forget that quite a few of those sorts of teams (and many H-games in general) die in development stage and never reappear again. The fact that Anon is tugging along still and about to complete beta stage just shows his work ethic and commitment, and the community's support/approval of his work.

And as Anon has said, WTF, your sentence "I could find both a video or another H game that could easily replace what you've made"--that's not only unhelpful but also rude. The guy's been working on this project for months by himself, and being fairly receptive to our feedback, and yet you say that? Even disregarding how irritated I am at that (and that's without being the target of it nor being developer myself, too), I accept the premise but reject the implication--there is NOTHING unique in the vast sea of porn. Sure, go ahead and find the Mona Lisa of your fetish, but I bet you can find something else that could replace it too in a few days. In the meantime though, you can certainly appreciate that a game is there and lots of work was obviously put into it. I've got hundreds of platformers alone in my H-gaming folder and CP is still one of my favorite H-games, even despite its flaws and the fact it's still only a demo. Sure I might be able to 'replace' it someday, or with a current game I own, but I know I'd miss it and come back to it (pun intended). :)

TL;DR: Not everyone likes what you like. Being different isn't always a good thing. Anon's working hard, lay off him and stop being a jerk.

lmao this reminds me of a dude who donated $300 on our Patreon to get an enemy in the game, and then they wanted this super extravagant enemy that was WAY out of place with the game's universe, I tried many times (over 60 emails!) to talk them down to something reasonable, and then they just started insulting the game/our artist.

They basically said that for $300, they could get "10 seconds of 60 FPS, 1080p hand drawn animation of whatever subject they liked in full color with audio from any animation studio".

I forget the exact numbers, but I broke it down and basically proved that our artist for our game doing a full enemy would be at least 50-60 frames for its movement, sex stuff, whatever else, and studios like Skullgirls's studio charge something like $300 for just one animation cycle of like 15-ish frames, so us charging $300 to get not only 50-60 frames in the game, but to have it be integrated into the game's gameplay, lore, game design, is definitely fair.

But to say they could get the "10 seconds of animation" blah blah stuff was just hilarious, lol.

I try to live by the credo of "if you aren't in a given industry, you probably don't know what it takes to work in that industry or what working in it is like", so assuming what it costs/what it takes to do something in regards to anyone's industry/skillset is generally a bad idea :p

Hey man, thank you so much for all of those kind words! Comments like this are one of my favorite things about working on this game, the support the H-community has shown me is really astounding, and it makes all of the hard work worth it! Hearing someone say this game is one of their favorites is just incredible for me. I never expected it to get that far, so seriously, thank you!

I'd also like to mention that CP:E will definitely have more storyline going on than it does now. It's not likely to show itself for a while - more likely it will be stuff I add in nearer to the end of development - but hopefully it'll improve your experience even more when it gets there! :)

Oh, hey! I remember really liking your work, Anon42, but I'm behind on playing everything. This is a good excuse to catch up on all your hard work!

O.O

I guess one benefit of being a small fish is that I don't get people like that...

Have you even played it? the animations are great, it already caters to relatively obscure fetishes and above all its one of the few games that would stand alone without the H. Comes in making unreasonable demands and then says this lol, cant even ask nicely. What an asshole.

You are hereby denied entry to heaven.

The nature of the Mona Lisa makes this an odd reference, but still weirdly fitting.

You mean this ISN'T the episodic story of two artificial beings coming to terms with their status as H-game characters? What more wonders must await us!?

All of these things would turn me off. I like Anon42's scenes as they are thus far.

I agree, the scenes are really good at the moment. Plus there's way more to come, so perhaps there will be a few in there to appeal to others.

Precisely why we're not listening to the guy who acted like he spoke for everybody :p

@Sierra Lee - Thanks! You definitely have plenty to catch up on if you haven't already, hope you enjoy/ed it!

@Slam Sector - Fuck, you've figured it out. Game is cancelled everybody, the plot twist has been revealed. g2g.

@Everyone but wtfdude - Thanks for all the support, guys! I'm glad to know his opinion is definitely in the minority, I'm not particularly interested in doing 'freaky' or 'gross' scenes, but I'm really enjoying working on this game, so I'm glad everyone really likes what's coming out of it!

In other news, time for the last pre-v.11 update!

This is part of the upcoming major feature in v.11 that has been teased by the previous pictures. I'm sure you all know where this is going, and hopefully it will explain why I'm hesitant to add things like more frames to each animation - I already have a lot of animating work cut out for me!

As always, v.11 will be releasing to the public on the 25th - just 4 days from now. Like I've mentioned before, public demo releases will stop soon, probably after v.12. I'm still working on that update, and I think I can finish everything on time. The most important thing to me is that the second boss fight is ready for the final public update, so that's what I'm aiming for!

Thick meaty tentacles will most likely be busy with other body parts ;).
Game keeps getting better and better, keep it up Anon42 :D.

Sooo this was probably already answered at some point but there are like 50 friggin' pages.

- Is there some kind of walkthrough somewhere? I am kinda stuck after getting my hands on that grappling hook.
- Is there some way to save your progress (did I miss it?).

Other than that I really enjoy the game.

Good thing there's already thick tentacles in the game then, huh? :p These guys serve a different purpose than just to fuck her though.

@AltairPL - Thanks! :)

@Valgo - Holy shit we are at 50 pages, aren't we? Hot damn. Thanks everybody! I'm so glad this game has been that well received.

To answer your questions, first: There is no walkthrough for the latest public update (currently v.10), but there IS one included in the v.11 release, which, again, is coming out in just 4 days. You can wait for that, or if you'd like I can just PM you a walkthrough of everything in v.10.

Second: There is no save system currently, just checkpoints. I'm still thinking through how to implement a save system, but I want to have some things decided before I go adding it. Plus I'm also concerned about save compatibility between versions of the game, and I don't want to have to worry about bug testing something that diverse. Starting in v.11, though, there's a set of temporary teleporters that can warp you to certain spots in the game (like the Wire Shot room) along with all of the gear you'd need by that point, so it's sort of like pre-made saves. I'll be using those until the game has an official save system.

Hope that answers your questions! Let me know if you have any others!

I dont see why thats an issue at this point. We already have to play through each new version start-finish, at least we would be able to come back to the stage we were at on the current version.
Im no expert but regarding the teleporter system, wouldnt that be simple to make it cross compatible between versions? "Player has unlocked this teleporter = 0/1" ?
