Welcome!

And I'm very glad to hear you want to learn--I've wanted this forum to be a starting point to revitalize the H-mugen community, but most just want character uploads and/or actual mugen games, rather than actually contributing (another reason why H-mugen is dying; too much taking and nobody putting in work).
I think so too. i think that's one of the reasons why ムゲンエロ not release his chars but not the leading one. imo it works, look at all the chars we have trying to imitate his or are derivative of the code he provided. I probably wouldn't have actually tried coding in mugen if he ever release his bao, lol.

orientation/vector for sprite vary based on sprite size and native orientation...like SF sprites are smaller than arcana heart sprites, so you can't use the same x/y coords for them usually. when i was messing with code of ムゲンエロ i used this as cross reference for stuff i didnt understand, at least i think i did, it might have been another wiki :

the main thing with modding is it can get time consuming, if you want to mod lots of chars i would suggest finding or creating a template that you can easily alter to speed up the spriting process. if you pay close attention to mgen_rapes videos this is what he does also

Ditto on the sprite size difference. I didn't have time to clarify what I meant earlier but I didn't mean to imply a "one-size fits" all anchoring point for any and every sprite. Man, can you imagine how dull this would be if every sprite was built so identically!? Yuck. And agreed on the creation of a template for expedient reference as well. That's what I did with the very first character I ever edited and would certainly recommend that to any other modders as well.

I didn't have time to accurately state what I meant earlier. What I meant to say is that in so far as victim editing goes I can, and would be willing, to write up an H-Mugen specific "cheat sheet" that could, I feel, really help to make getting started in Fighter Factory less intimidating and confusing for those just starting or would like to start. It could include info such as what victim sprite groups and animation goes to what "Kuromaru" and "Minotaur" sprite groups and animations (I dub them as such due to their popularity and the fact that a character compatible with those two characters is well on the way to being compatible with almost everything). It would also include some other useful tips for boosting compatibility across the board that I've learned after much frustration experimentation, for example, not relying on the x and y axis in the animation tab for placing your sprites. Sure, a bj animation for Kuro will work just fine for -him- done that way but, say Joker's "Baomaru" style throw that includes a bj animation that seemingly defaults right to the sprite group could be WAY off or might even be missing frames depending on your sprite numbering. Stuff like that. :) I feel I've got this aspect of H-Mugen creation down-pat. Now rapist modding on the other hand... That's a much bigger beast I've barely even begun to tackle.

Hey, brand new user but have been lurking around for some time, trying to stay up to date. One thing I really wished I could have found when I was teaching myself how to use Fighter Factory (still am) was a sort of cheat sheet with the relevant sprite group/animation numbers and tips on sprite vectors and orientations to get my victims decent compatibility. I have to go to work like... now actually but would that be something TC might be interested in adding to the top of the thread if I did? Sorta "Neoseraphim's Beginners Cheat Sheet to Victim Compatibility", so to speak? I think it might help some folks get started on Fighter Factory, something I'd like to see. :)

I've been trying to push an actual teaching and mentoring aspect of H-mugen here--it's funny you're bringing this up, because I've been in a personal project of my own in categorizing and arranging which sprites and anims go to which number and what they do in terms of R-moves, and I use my own reference page constantly (EXACTLY what you're talking about). Anyway, I'm all for you teaching, and I'd be glad to help out as well or learn from you; I'm not exactly an expert on coding, but I'm fairly user-experienced in FF3 and I know where stuff goes in terms of making characters H compat with sprites and anims (and like you, I'm pretty bad with rapers). Btw, tbh, I don't know exactly HOW effective your endeavor would be--it's great that you're attempting it, but I'm a little pessimistic that anyone would take the time/effort to learn, when they could just be spoonfed characters.

Also, it's great to see you in this forum, Neo. I've been sort of eavesdropping on your new site and on your dialogue with mugen_sprite_lover and I think it's awesome what you're doing. TBH, I wish sprite_lover would make more sprite sheets and actually open them up to the public; I just dream of the characters I could make H-compat with how good his sprites are. I've been browsing his site and I don't think the sprites he's made available are complete enough to animate. :'(

@Shinkaiser: Yeah, in a way, mugen_rape is sort of helping the H-mugen community because at least we're so jealous of his characters that we're trying (and failing) to emulate him, and as I've said ad nauseum here, if he had just made everything he created available, none of us would know anything about the intricacies of coding/spriting/animating. Still, I wish he could at least teach or show us something. I'm working on combining ero_helper_zero with Jill to poorly mirror mugen_rape's Jill. Big work in progress, since I can get her to perform EHZ's moves (the mass animal/zombie rape) and even get her raped using the same moves, but the anims get really buggy quickly. :(

It does get time-consuming, but the joy in figuring something out and having an actual compat character feels so good. I modified Psylocke heavily, as well as Yoko and some of others, and it feels amazing to see your work demonstrated perfectly. :)

Oh, I am certainly -not- expecting any kind of miraculous increase in productivity in the community on simple account of that, haha. Still, I've seen more than a few users right here on this thread who seem like they might enjoy something like it so I think I'll go ahead and write it up once I figure out this damnable project I'm working on right now. Mugen Sprites Lover (Who btw told me he's gonna start amping up releasing of sprite sheets in the very near future!) posted a pretty spiffy sprite sheet for a Rapist Bao that I -thought- was going to be a simple case of adding in the sprites to the Rapist Bao I happened to have from the now-defunct Ryona Mugen Database but then discovered a couple things wrong attack itself that I want to fix before releasing it... and am not having much luck with, haha. Anyhow, thanks for the input and supportive comments! Glad we seem to be on a pretty similar page in this bruhaha. :p

I would recommend checking mugen_rapes bao_cns9 (from kuromaru+) or whatever as a reference as far as coding the bao and fixing it, whoever coded that char initially did a rush job and did indeed break some stuff. I would show you mine but when I ran it through a text editor earlier a month or so ago it garbled all the comments :( I haven't gone through and fixed that yet..but on the bright side if the bao you have does have bao_cns9 I should be able to help u if you have any questions

I figured. Just one person learning and starting to mod would be enough for me. Definitely excited for more sprite sheets; I'm jumping at the chance to improve the characters I already have, and if you (or others) start uploading characters, I'd also contribute with my own. I love sprite_lover's work and if people have sprites as well as your guide to assist them (again, if you need help of any kind, I'm more than happy to support), it might just the spark needed to re-jump the H-mugen community. :)

Looks good! Did you use Bao's cns or did you code him from scratch?

Indeed. :) And yup! Though it seems mugenhti is assuming leadership on that character. :) I'm honestly just beginning to learn rapers, actually. My goal is, just as with my template for victims, turn this one into a template for all future rapers I implement cns9_baomaru_cns.txt to. I think I should have it figured out tonight. Wish me luck! And much the same to you.

Thanks for the help! I was considering removing that one too but then, perhaps I'll draw sprites for it up myself in the near future so in so far as this bao goes, I'll just keep it. Feel free to keep the anim in with Ash if you haven't removed it already and I'll draw up sprites for him too. :)

AHA! I WAS RIGHT!! VICTORY!!! Yeah, I noticed that there wasn't a selfstate to give control back to player 2 when the throw was released and was 99% sure that was the cause. When I referenced the kuromaru+ that uses cns9_baomaru_cns.txt I found the state/statedef 6065 but, oddly in two completely seperate cns files! But yes, thank you for confiming that for me. I was being a typical dude and didn't want to stop at the gas station for directions but I'm happy to know I am not wasting my time right now, haha. One other thing that perhaps you could clear up for me, the semi-transparency toggle that kuro can do in the slime and piledriver animations doesn't seem to stick with this kid either. Like, it flickers solid for a split-second then goes right back to see through as where on kuro it stays off until you toggle it back on. I have some ideas why this is but maybe you have the answer to this on hand too?

Yeah, that's definitely what's setting the default to semi-transparent. My kuro is written exactly the same way though, hence the confuzzledness.. And again, I looks like bao is -trying- to toggle the transparency off but something is overriding it.

Im 99% sure this is because of a var conflict. Gimme one sec and ill see if I can confirm]

Edit: Yep, var conflict. Those two vars are already being used by bao, so to fix transparencey all you have to do is change them. Var(20) and Var(21) appear to be free so I swapped 41 and 51 out for those, respectively. Tested and works. let me know if this solved it
