You need to install the XP RTP for Rhode's fortress. He still uses the old version of the engine for some reason. Installing the RTP for VX ACE doesn't provide backward compatibility.

Hmm, I'm getting a crash after I win the night sparring match with Dean. I think it is missing a graphics file but part of the error was in Japanese so I can't be sure. I'll work on grabbing a screen shot next time but if anyone has any idea what it could be it would of great assistance.

I always kind of feel sorry for the girls in SG's games.

The thing is that you probably don't haveset your windows on japanese locale, it means when you unpack game the names of files go something like scene_ $&9fd00.jpg instead of scene_漢字仮名.jpg, and you dont have to make screenshots - all you need to do is, press crtl+c then open notepad and crtl+v

I'm actually already running in Japanese Locale so that wasn't the problem.

I now can't seem to duplicate the error though, I just went straight through the fight and the next few days without any issues. I hope this isn't a sign of my hard disc dying. -_-

When I run the game with Jap Applocale I have everything working (translated story), but as soon as I switch back to my regional settings, I cant see any dialogs/story while still runing game with Jap Applocale. Is there any way to stay in my regional settings and play this game with only Applocale?

Applocale is something from the windows XP era. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it completely disappears from your system while blocking a fresh installation. Either use VirtualBox or some other VM software (a good way to keep viruses away) or keep swapping to Japanese locale.

Short answer :
NO

Applocale won't be enough for this game (as with other game).
It work up to a point, but with some game you'll need better local setting emulator, or just need to switch to japanese local setting.

Rhode's fortress is one of the game you need to switch over to have full text.

NTLEA work better, but you'll have many square in the text....

Hmm, to be fair other ScaleGarden works fine with Applocale. I read on previous pages that ppl had the same problem with subtitles not showing up and there was something with RGSS104J.dll but i couldn't find any solution

At least this one felt pretty short for me. The combat is a bit more forgiving as well from my experience so a full run whilst in Japanese Region isn't too long.

SoG on the other hand took me ages. I suspect it was because I didn't use a guide and unlike this game it didn't give any hints. Some of the fights were pretty hard too making me grind for levels. :\

You're not wrong, this game is a LOT shorter than his other games, even Seiren Harp. It's because he did a lot of focus on animation, means he didn't have enough time to write more scenes, I assume

I actually kind of prefer this pace. Though I found SoG a bit more enjoyable over all.

The animation and art style is really very good I want to say I am a fan of SG but the shit that happens to the girls some times is a bit much for me.

Not only this but it is really demoralising. Just as she gets a bit willing and wet she is usually captured and taken by the lowest or second lowest scum around. Rhode's Fortress is particularly mean about it where this asshole just shows up and flips everything sideways.

Heh, with all the rape, maybe we're developing empathy and actual feelings? I still have a problem with SG and its/his obsession with getting forced by black guys (as in it's built into the story), but I suppose that only reinforces the rape mentality.

Part of me always wonders why we're constantly playing a female MC (or why these games are so popular, along with reverse rape). Why not a male MC that rapes females instead? I mean, do we enjoy rape against us even as males, assuming most of us are? Is there something fundamentally wrong with us, we rejoice in seeing our avatars--virtual projections of ourselves--get violated and mindbroken? (Obv there's something wrong with us regardless if we play these games in general, but I can live with that, haha). Anyway...digression.

I thought Rhodes Fortress was a little less brutal with its main character. In SoG she gets completely corrupted by a man who's always in control, in Rhodes even though she gets in big trouble she never surrenders completely and always work towards freeing herself and people she loves. It's bit nicer, as nice as corruption and rape goes I suppose.

It was funny though how it added another layer of corruption, at first you think the first guy is the one bad guy who'll try to break her, but then another dude shows up... Poor Rhodes!

That is one way to look at it I guess. I just find it harder to stomach because she never gives up. Even when she is lost in lust and pleasure she is still suffering horribly and hoping to rescue her friends. In SoG I felt that while she still had some shame at times she genuinely enjoyed it towards the end making it easier to take in for those who dislike constant rape. Though I didn't like the scene involving the children in SoG but that's another thing entirely.
