Yeah, well keep in mind that I won't be doing this past now. A lot of character-exclusive content is coming up in the next few patches anyway so you'll pretty much need to play through if you wanna see all of the good stuff, depending on who your fav character is!

My mind always tells me that I should just wait for these kinds of games to be completely finished before I play, that way I'd spare myself having to replay through each time an update comes out, but I never listen, I'd have nothing to fap to.

Really looking forward to the upcoming content, this game has become one I've followed closely.

Heh, thanks. And hey, I decided to release the game episodically so that people could have some degree of input on what they want to see in the game; I tend to go by majority votes while reserving exclusive 'veto' power of course (since I'm not personally a fan of stuff like say, scat, so you won't see that in here). So yeah... I appreciate your support!

Aaand, I know I've promised this many times with some degree of failure, but you can use your old Save files from previous versions for the new updates if you so wish! The only reason I recommended starting over last patch was to unlock some pictures in the gallery, since I needed to install new switches in order to make the script work in the first place.

hi there Takimaru, I realy dont mind replaying the game actualy, if it has some new content, the reason I wanted a save with all the CG was to know if I got all the scenes from the girls I played with.... to be sure I didnt miss something... ^^

and yeah, am a big fan of this game, the way you are doing it is also realy nice, getting others involved and having them give you ideas and suggestions, good thing you dont like scat btw, that is one of the only things I realy am opposed to in hentai games... ;)

I would love to see some loli stuff if that wasnt to rough thoug... xD
or something like more DP stuff or something.... (I kinda like extreme stuff alot btw... :eek:)

Thanks for the support, all. Due to popular request, I've made a really bare-bones wiki for Despair Labyrinth, located here:

So far there's only a page for each character in the 'Primary 8' (the selectable girls / PCs) and one for H-events, but hopefully it'll come along later on.
I'm currently working on 0.09, of which a second testing version should be released to beta testers around the 14th.

Great job man! Just what I am looking for! I'll be waiting for the next version! I love the scene where the heroine took a bath/masturbates in the bathroom. You should add more of those events. It'll be cool if you change the battle system into like RPG Maker XP's battle system.

What's new in 0.09 (Updated April 18, 2012):

~Added 'speed text' function: Hold 'down' on the arrow keys to quick-skip through text; it will stop at the next available choice when used on cutscenes or H-scenes.
~Added "Load" feature: You can now load a saved game from the character menu.
~Several new areas: Guest Rooms, Division Library, Rogues' Division Officers' Lounge (with side rooms), Treasure Room (Cesca exclusive), and several hallways
~Wealth of information from books in the small library, located at the east hallway of the lounge, and books in the larger library to the far north. Consider this introductory lore for the world of Despair Labyrinth.
~Added several cutscenes:
-Unique Thyme/Irine interactions. If playing as Thyme, you will encounter Irine in the 'rest area' located north of the Syndicate Officers' Lounge. If playing as Irine, you will encounter Thyme in the Division Library.
-Unique Thyme flashback and background; automatically triggered after walking further into the Division Library
~Exclusive action / puzzle mini-game for Cesca with item reward, located in the new area after the Officers' Lounge
~Exclusive fetch quest / dating-game for Lanie with H-scene reward; located in the first Syndicate Bar.

~Added 2 'generic' H-scenes:
-Talk to the NPC at the northeast corner of the Officers' Lounge. Low Purity (< 50) required.
-Talk to the wine bottle sitting on the counter of the bar in the Barracks (old room with all the sleeping bandits). Low Purity (< 50) required.
~Added 5 character-specific H-scenes:
-Cesca, by losing to enemies in the treasure room
-Lanie, by 'winning' at the end of the quest
-Irine, by default after entering the Guest Rooms
-Thyme, by default after walking into the Division Library
-Asella, by defeating Rhiannon in their encounter cutscene while having low Purity and the Dominatrix Outfit in your inventory

Also fixed some combat stuff:
-Updated Charming Wink to affect two random enemies instead of all of them
-Deadly Venom now counts as a Physical Attack.
-Concentrate now doubles Spirit for the next several rounds instead of one
-Gave Pierce and Bash their proper elements (Piercing and Blow, respectively)
-Nerfed Quadra Curse to have a 75% chance to end after 3 turns--it's real nasty, even then
-Divine Barrier now has a 90% chance to end after 4 turns
-Updated the descriptions on some items and skills

Save4: Thyme's flashback and H-scene (move up from starting point)

Mind you, ya still gotta go through the thing for Cesca and Lanie's stuff. But again, as with previous patches, old saves from 0.08 should work

A few quick comments for Takimaru, regarding some of the new content.

1) For Laine's exclusive scene, that is a LOT of backtracking to do. Sheesh. Scene is very nice, though.
2) Thyme's flashback scene is fantastic. That's a lot of "excess" work that some major companies (*cough*EA*cough*) would gloss over to "finish: the game faster.
3) Why did you choose to make the Rich Guy in the second tavern "solid" colored, whereas most other male partners are the "ghost" blue?

1.) Haha yes, I knew a lot of people would hate me for it. It's probably the most work anyone has had to do for an H-scene thus far, I think, and for romantic heterosexual intercourse at that. D:

2.) Thank you. It was actually thought up by my primary storyline consultant Blue, but we have a lot of backstory-type scenes planned in the future to provide a richer storyline overall.

3.) Mm, well, in 3DCG, the 'default' male is light blue and what I use for the majority of humans. It just so happens that the 'fat guy' model (which I used for the noble, obviously) is a solid one, as are many fan-made mods, so yeah. Same with the soldiers, the bag-head characters in Cesca's minigame, almost all monsters, and so on.

Ohh nice. It's always good to see you updating.

For my first run I decided to go with Cesca and try out whatever bow I could find. I got up to the Corrupt Captain before I'd needed to use any of her healing items. I like how it's sort of a trade off between offense and defense for her different weapon sets, dual wielding vs the bow. I found myself using her poison strike a lot more often because of the lowered damage and just letting the enemy die from that. It actually made the boss fights much easier. Though after Red and Blue I needed to switch back to swords because I couldn't find another bow.

Though I also poisoned an enemy without using her skill once, was that intended to happen with the bow?

Looking in the library one thing I was wondering. Do you have a map for the setting? I was wondering what the size of countries was relative to each other in addition to where in the world they were. Also, is there any chance of martial characters learning moves from the various sword schools from books or other people? Not all of the schools are in game, but I'd be really interested to see more about them.

For her mini game I surrendered against the first one and played the rest as a stealth game since she and Gwyn were both one shot by any thug they encountered. I did really like the rape scene in this one, especially the low purity one. I started at 92 purity and by the time I finished I was at 76.

The new scene in the barracks was also really nice. Some more like that, especially if they had multiple purity options rather than all or nothing, would be really nice.

Also, you've really put a ton of thought into the setting and it shows with the library. I know many people just want sexual stuff in games, but I really do appreciate the amount of world building is in it right now.

I'm going to go through with Thyme next I think.

Always interesting seeing someone use the bows with Cesca. Originally they were meant for a canceled ranger-type character, one that I can always implement later (there are open spaces for 2 extra characters in my Common Events at all times)... but yeah, I figured since thief-type classes in many RPG's and MMO's can also use bows, I'd let her take a crack at them. Hmm, I don't -think- she should be able to poison anyone with a normal attack, unless it's just the game saying that someone is still poisoned... beats me.

I have a map drawn out mentally, but haven't bothered to put it in RPG Maker yet; I might just actually hand-draw this thing and then scan it or something, just to give people an idea of the world. It's still a very rough draft, but yeah.

As you can tell, the Nine Great Schools of the Sword is a setup for certain characters to be learning types of moves or encountering swordsmen from the different branches. As if it weren't obvious, I took some influences from the French school of fencing (and modern), German school of swordsmanship (with the longsword), Iaijutsu, Escrima, and some other stuff. Obviously the combat system isn't ideal for this, but I just thought it would add some flavor to the world of DLaby.

Heh, there are quite a bit more positions in this patch. I don't always MEAN for it to end up in this way or that, it's just that doggy or missionary just seemed like the most sense for many of the N/C scenes when I was writing them. But luckily, with the romantic consensual ones (Thyme and Lanie), as you can see, there tend to be a wealth of options for obvious reasons.

And yes, Thyme's run is definitely worth playing through in light of her interaction with Irine and her flashback, which gives a little bit of character insight, I suppose.
