OK i finally got around to doing the next enemy, I'm thinking of making changes to the run/walk and the h-event, it just looks odd for me I'll post the run one now possibly needs two extra frames too be more fluid leg snaps back too fast for me, but I'm going to change the h event sprite for sure though.

Also i got more info on the boss now it'll be hopefully how its supposed to look like.

Awesome. I forgot to thank you for doing everything is such a timely manner and really staying on top of things. It makes this whole project much easier.

I'm trying to come up with something for the next enemy we make. I was thinking of something that ULMF members would recognize, like a creature from a popular game on the forums. Needless to say, slimes and some sort of trap floor tentacle thingy are a must.

I have all the levels planned out with bosses and all that fun stuff. Let me know when you're ready and ill fill you in on what the next one should look like (Don't worry, I know I'm a little bit ahead. I don't want to rush you.)

I really do think that the next enemy should defiantly not be humanoid, slime or a tentacle monster would be neat to make,but I'll have to be creative to make them stand out and be different.

The attachment is a past creation of a tentacle monster i made, I know its sorta ridiculous but i thought it would be something unique for a change, i wonder if there are any pictures of girls getting raped by tentacle watermelon slices I'll have to check, if not I'd like to be the first:).

Believe it or not, I actually have the perfect place for such a monster! It may sound crazy, but it actually fits. Unfortunately, its not until MUCH farther in the game but definitely hold on to that idea for the future. Ill explain via PM once you send me the boss stuff.

Also I'll let you know what level 2 looks like. Normal tentacles and slimes will fit into that level perfectly.

Can we get some sort of robot that moves forward and shoots (simple two sprite object)? For the final product (not the demo) Id like to have that for level one. We will address that later. I'm just thinking outloud at this point.

EDIT: Also keep an eye out on the forums for any neat fetishes that are neglected by other games. One that caught my attention on the Zurine thread was 'brainwashing' and 'ghost possession' which would be perfect for level 3 (Once again, Ill be sending you this level list so you can follow along).

Hmm, are you still looking for people to test? I don't have buckets of time, and I rather suck at Contra and all of its Nintendo-Hard affiliates... but that just means that if you hear me saying "It's too hard, I'm dying all the time!" then it's perfect.

Here's a question: What is more frustrating?
Getting killed by a complicated/hard to dodge attack?
or
Accidentally falling off a ledge while trying to dodge a complicated attack?

Also, feel free to ask about progress if you think we are taking too long to update the status of the game.

Well after making more than 228 episodes of a show, you start too run out of ideas i guess. At least it's not a watermelon slice:p

What would be more frustrating is an impossible to dodge attack but falling to death dodging would be more humiliating for me.

*edit*made a concept of the slime, the problem is that I'm having a hard time deciding which color too choose:( also i sent ya more boss sprites via pm

I'm sorry to report that there may be a slight 1-2 delay due to my inability to access the forums yesterday. Also it does not help that I decided to switch engines at the last minute. Granted, I believe it will be better in the long run. Changing engines is a huge task as almost everything has to be redone. However, I doubled the time I have set aside for this project to compensate for the time lost due to this change.

Testers, You can expect a link to the shortened test version PMed to you by Friday at the latest. I may do something earlier without sprites but we will play that by ear.

Considering what we have put into it, I believe we are still making good time.

Quick history:
2 months ago - Came up with the idea for this game while playing Contra (and Megaman 2) and began designing an engine for it.
1 month ago - Completed the engine and began testing with random unorganized levels and enemies.
3 weeks ago - Presented idea on the Under Construction forum and found an artist.
2 weeks ago - Began actual planning, construction, and testing of game.
1 week ago - Finished level planning and the construction of level one as well as most of the layout for level 2.
Today - Finishing first boss and preparing to prep game for testing.

EDIT- Packaging test folders. I was able to get every thing done fairly quickly by just using the drag and drop scripts of game maker (except for where they don't have particular functions I use). Screw GML this is quicker haha! Later when I have more time Ill have to make them into normal scripts so I don't get confused about what goes where.

Sorry if it seems as if I haven't been posting as much lately. We have actually been very busy with the game. UrineOnU is redesigning almost all of the sprites and I have been smoothing out all the problems with the new engine. Needless to say, it put me really behind but I'm finally getting caught up. I wont have an idea of when that actual demo with enemies will be released until Monday or Tuesday. I don't expect it to take longer than a week. Once the fall semester starts I have to revise my game designing schedule to work around school. Testers can expect a revised build of the testing room as soon as Tuesday assuming this weekend goes smoothly.

hehe, tentacle watermelons, that got me. Personally, I'm not really frustrated by enemies so much as enemy placement. Since this is a rape game it doesn't matter, but one thing I've always hated was "hurt by contact" as if somehow walking into someone automatically damages you, never made any sense to me if they weren't attacking, but at least here you get raped for it.

The one thing I hope doesn't happen is something I've always deemed "The Megaman Effect" that enemies only spawn the second they hit the screen and it's usually during a jump in which you couldn't see them beforehand but now are going to die in a pit because they couldn't have been spawned off screen or the screen couldn't have been bigger. Instead of making the game about skill, it then becomes about stupid trial and error memorization which is really only suited for arcades since it's a coin-eater design. That reason is the one reason I've always despised the megaman series and shoved it back in anyone's face about why it's like the one nintendo series I didn't own growing up. Long as that's not here, it's a beaut.

This is actually something Ive been playing around with. By disabling 'hurt by contact' the game plays a lot better. However, how do I explain how the enemies walk right past the heroine and into a pit? "They dumb as hell" I guess that excuse will work.

Another thing I started messing around with. One of the testers (actually he has the title of 'Lead Tester' at this point) pointed out that the random enemy spawns I use just for testing actually make for good gameplay and after much testing on my part, I agree. While it does make spawning enemies easier, it requires a very delicate balance. If there are too many or two few its no fun. Also there specific areas where I want them to attack and a random spawn wont allow that. I'm going to mainly rely on random respawns. However, if you just found a secret area and picked up a 10-up, shits gonna be spawning off screen!


(On a side note: Can someone please tell me why my 4th Xbox broke, yet I'm still on my first NES? That's not right...)

Well this is sorta unrelated almost entirely to the game, mainly this is for my own improvement of making sprites, trying to decide if outlines
look better than non out lined sprites. What i have noticed is darker to light background differences that have very similar tones is that sometimes the non outlined one can get "lost" in the background, also random artwork done with the pencil tool
......
