Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I'll leave mobs on, but one thing I would like to do is disable Creepers. There's a simple mod that does this, and it makes things a whole lot easier, trust me. No more worrying about stepping out of your house and getting a hole blown in your front door.

I'll go with what other people want though.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

My suggestions for mods offhand, mainly as I got em on my system now, and it's quite a blast. I listed them from order of most likely to least likely for a multiplayer setting.

- adds several more minecrafty-weapons, all fitting the style. Includes poisonous blowguns, crossbows, a breaking musket, warhammers, battle axes, halbreds, knifes, spears, javelin, and throwable TNT sticks.

- Who hasn't heard of this in the Minecraft world? Adds a ton of new mobs, everything from werewolves to breedable horses, big cats, sharks, dolphins, birds, foxes, bears, feral wolves, wraiths, ogres, ducks, boars, bunnies, deer... basicly a very extensive mob mod.

- Now wood can give you wings! Instructions for everything from a basic biplane to a P51 Mustang, as well as AA guns that work great on Ghasts. Additionally, several of the planes include bombing capabilites and onboard guns for dogfighting.

- Adds a touch of modern warfare to Minecraft. Includes several forms of guns, ammo, and several other useful extras, like a Lightometer to show if hostile mobs can spawn somewhere, parachutes, a gravel/flint grinder for gunpowder, scuba tanks, coins (for currency?) and a cannon block to simplify TNT cannon systems. NOTE: If you download this, use the unoffical version of the SDK mod manager from the Planes Mod page. The one included seems to cause the nasty black screen of loggin in doooooom.

Hmm, interesting mods there. I've personally never used modloader, preferring Bukkit, but I'm willing to give those a try if everyone else is up for them.

However, there's a problem. Despite getting the computer running again, it's having problems connecting to my network. Rather than try to fix it myself, I'm going to take it in to the store I bought it from and get them to fix it. This might take a few days, but hopefully, we should stay on track for this weekend's grand reopening of the server.

Even though I didn't play much before I could probably poke by at times to do random things.

I'm however clueless towards mods as I've mostly played vanilla.

Hell yeah I'm up for joining again. Doubt it will be until I've moved into my apartment and set up my PC though, this is piece of shit laptop lags like hell with Minecraft for some reason.

As for mods, I like the sound of using Mo' Creatures though the last time I used it myself I couldn't set the limit on creature spawning and I ended up with a metric fuckton of lion's chasing me down and the waters literally infested with sharks. There's also a mod called Iconomy or something like that that another server uses, it adds shops and a currency which sounds pretty cool though if we are going for something like that I'd suggest a couple of mods that adds more fruit tree's as well as ones that expand on farming. There's a couple I used to use so if you're interested I'll link you to them when I get back as I'm heading out soon.

And for the using OAMP's map/starting afresh debate I'd rather start afresh though that's mostly because I'd like to see the world developing as the communities, not us expanding off a pre-existing map. That being said I won't be joining in right away so I'll be expanding off whatever everyone else builds.

Agreed with Onikain, starting fresh might be best.

I'm in. Been in the mood for a bit of Minecraft again lately. Kinda a shame that cathedral of mine is gone though. I wanted to show some people that.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Well I was going to post the farming mod I use (Xie's Farming mod if anyone want's to know) but apparently it's not SMP compatible. I'm gonna try and track down one that is, and I also can't seem to find any information on the iConomy mod even though several servers do use it.

EDIT: I do however have a that says it's compatible with SMP.
EDIT2: Well I'm dumb. can be found here, though I haven't looked into it myself. Also, I'm not sure if that's the up-to-date version. Extra's for iConomy can be found , from what I can tell it includes a class system (titles such as Miner, Lumberjack and the like most likely), player owned shops and some other stuff I haven't looked at. The iConomy mods use the Bukkit plugin to run.
EDIT3: a list of all the plugin's from the iConomy official website. Which also has the up-to-date iConomy download if the first link I posted doesn't.

We don't really have a village yet, so everyone can still participate from the start. We have a tiny house (mine), a mine, and a farm (because we needed food with mobs on), then the airship megaproject. Basically, we have the infrastructure to survive with monsters turned on, and very few buildings that individually took a lot of work.

Ultimately I'm fine with going for whatever everyone else wants, I was just saying which choice I prefer. And I'll probably join in once the server goes back online despite my laptop being a piece of shit as I don't really want to miss out.

Another random mod discovery.

Also, sadly, one of my original mod suggestions (the Balkon Weapon Mod) isn't SMP supported yet, so that's definatelly out :V

I was going to post that yesterday, but it seemed confusing to me.

Also, more mods to consider;
- This gives the option to create fences, slabs and other stuff out of more materials. Also also changes the fence recipe, as well as making corner stairs if stairs are put together in a certain way. There's also hatches and hidden doors. Torches can be placed on glass and slabs with this, and ladders can be put anywhere, but can only be climbed up one side. They are also 3D instead of a flat graphic. (Needs Modloader)
- Adds wild grass that grows randomly (useless now that 1.6 has growing wild grass) though it also adds biome specific flower textures. Sand shows flowers as either dead grass (slightly different to what's officially in MC) and mini cacti (which hurt you if you walk over them) and flowers on water add a lily pad and a lily pad with a pink flower. Also, reeds can be placed on leaf blocks to create climbable vines. (Needs Modloader)
- This adds quite a few new plants, including Sunflowers (both small and large varieties), Thistles, Grapes and Strawberries. It also adds a couple of new ores (for loam and potato seeds) as well as recipes, healing items, blocks, armour and tools. (Needs Modloader and ModloaderMP)

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Expressing interest. I don't know how active I'll be - other things are poised to take up much of my time - and I can't say I'll exactly have a house among the community. But I do have a project I damn well intend to work on.

I'd be fine with starting fresh or using OAMP's map, as long as there's a whole heap of spare room to work with (and, it being Minecraft, that's a given).

I don't mind the inclusion of most mods, as long as they're not particularly game-breaking, i.e. one-hit block destroying pickaxes of indestructibleness made from wood. Or the ability for any player to warp to any player; some of us have seeecret constructions we want to remain fairly hard to discover - at least very least until they're finished.

Something that allows for teleportation and/or hidden doors like we had with runecraft would be handy. (But, as has been indicated, not Runecraft itself - too difficult to get it to run.)

Worth considering that too many mods may well put the server out of action for a week every time the game gets an official update.

I believe the hidden doors in the Betterblocks mod would function similar to what you want. They look like the block they were made from but act like a door.

This was a problem in the past, but now you can choose not to update your version of Minecraft when you start it up. So while you won't get the new update stuff, you'll at least be able to play on the server until the mods get updated.

Also, as I've said before, I havn't tried using modloader, I've mostly been using Bukkit for my personal server, but I'll take a look and see how well they work together. I will say though, that if they arn't too friendly with eachother, I'll use Bukkit and its mods.

Since I plan on adding in iConomy and getting some shops going, Bukkit will be needed for that.

Will the shops be player owned shops or NPC owned? Also, will there be an actual currency or will ores/ingots be the currency?

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I havn't looked too closely at iConomy yet, but if I remember correctly, the stores will essentially be signs and/or chests and there will be a real currency that is tracked and you can sell stuff you don't want for that and then spend it on hard to find/impossible to get stuff, like Lapis or gunpowder. That's my understanding of it anyway... it might be possible for players to set up shops as well selling what comes out of their mines to other people as well, I'm just not sure at this point.

I think one of the mods on the iConomy website I liked is a mod for player owned sign/chest shops.

As someone who's hesitant to use mods in the first place, I'd prefer if we kept the number to a minimum, though now there's a lot of good one's as compared to Runecraft and a pile of crap like there was last year
