Glad that some folks are able to afford and get corrective eye surgery. I can only imagine how inconvenient it is to need glasses to see things at certain distances all the time, so it must be quite a liberating experience!

I know that you've got a thing against militaries; but for me (and I'm guessing possibly for Sin), this was one of the perks of the trade. Glasses are inconvenient for civilians, but they can be downright troublesome when you need to don a gas mask or certain other pieces of military gear.

If it cost the military money, and it did you guys good, then I'm all for it. My family's experience with the military didn't get so much as a permanent benefit out of it, quite the opposite really.

I had a good sign at work today. I was given a fairly reasonable responsibility, even though I'm still only a temp.

While it's nothing definite per se, I still think it's note-worthy that I was given a responsibility for something that, in previous weeks, I was not tasked to handle even though it was something I've been semi-training for pretty much every day.

So, wayback when my old bookstore was closing, I picked up a gay vampire erotica book (because written yaoi and hey, vampires) and fell in love with a story in it. Flash forward to a couple weeks ago and the cb and I are talking about anthologies and I bring it up and, on a whim, decide to look up the website of the favored author. Found him on Goodreads and messaged him to see if he had done any more stories with the same characters and it turns out that he had. So I order the books (along with some others) and have been picking through them, reading his stories first, of course. So I write him back on Goodreads and gush like the fangirl I am and he offered to send me an ARC of the book about the characters when it comes out next April! Suffice to say, I am bouncing around like a superball right now (and of course I said 'yes!')

Also necessary for the various careers I want, otherwise I woulda just stuck with the glasses. Cause I'm pretty much broke now, cause no the military didn't pay for mine.

I got to meet Violet Malan a little whiles back at a local writing festival, and she turned out just to be awesome. It's fun to talk to them about their inspirations, and what they do for research and the like. At least, it was for me.

But, I don't think I can beat a 2am breaky.

This is great in itself, but it so happens that it comes from a series of erotic fan fiction stories that I've been a fan of for a while, though sadly the author of those stories retired from fan fiction some months ago, so I hadn't thought I'd ever see any mroe pictures in relation to that series.

Turns out, however, that another author had taken up the mantle, and released another story in the series. I read it, and it was well-written and featured many of the same fetishes/kinks that the old stories did.

And then, lastly, I visited the blog of the original author of the fan-series, and found out that he'd semi-unretired!

So yeah, pretty happy about those things.

Sinful, I get that you don't like a lot of my opinions and I've been outright hostile to you in the distant past over things were I felt you blamed me out of hand, but I don't get how you got "well fuck you then." out of my message that I honestly meant to be heartfelt. I think it's your jaded perspective of me (Though to be fair I am ragey a fair amount of the time.) but I want to assure you I only meant that I was happy for both you and Hope. Sorry about you having to pay out the wallet for the surgery as well, medical fees for surgery related stuff like that is outright criminal over here, I can only imagine it's much the same where-ever you are in Canada.

Not sure if it made me giddy or not, but when I was at the store today, I saw a rogue shopping cart heading straight for a parked car at pretty high speed. Without even really thinking, I ran over and stopped it before it could crash into the car and damage it. Maybe that'll give me some good karma.

Trying a spiced rum-based marinade with some baked chicken today. It's been marinating since midday Saturday. Today I scraped off the coagulated fat (the marinade contained olive oil), spooned out most of the liquid marinade, and put that sucker in the oven. Gonna serve it up with a side of wheat couscous.

Generally cuisine isn't enough to make me giddy, but today I'm reaping the reward of my marinade creativity over the weekend. So... yes. A bit giddy.
