I wouldn't overreact but I sure as hell speak to people the same way over text as I do in person. Having said that, obviously some contexts are not able to be recreated or controllable. For instance, how could I tell someone in person to use the search function to our past conversations to see the old topic in which we were discussing such a thing. No, I'm afraid real life doesn't have that same circumstance.
