Re: DDO

If it's anything like table top D&D, you'll need a high dexterity as a pre-req.

Re: DDO

I was told 15 Dex. I'm over that with the rouge now, and I'm guessing my fighter may have had it innately because I chose the Duel Wield specilization when I created.

Re: DDO

According to the game's , it only requires dex 15 for two weapon fighting. (There is no feat named duel wield, which may be your problem).

Exotic weapons proficiency requires a base attack bonus of +1.

Re: DDO

So I'm technically able to duel-wield allready. still, one would think Rapiers were light weapons... aw well, guess I'll look for a better set of daggers or something.

They're all on Cannith Ronny.

Just trying different things.

Re: DDO

For those curious, my Rouge's on Sarlona and my Fighter's on Ghallanda. If I knew what server you was on, I'd start a Ranger.

Re: DDO

Uh, lurker, take it from a person who's been dualwielding for over... a few months now. A rapier and a short sword works the best. It's just the one in your offhand that has to be light, not the one in your main hand.

Re: DDO

Yes rapier/shortsword is the best for 2 weapon fighting by far. rapiers are medium not light weapons, though I've always thought they should be light since it's really just a keen shortword, but meh. Definately don't dual wield as a rogue unless you have the two weapon fighting as you probably won't hit anything at lower levels. also don't use a weapon you don't have proficiency with for the same reason. Every 3 levels you get a new feat so just hold off till you can get it. My rogue doesn't dual wield herself as she doesn't have the feat.

I don't blame you for not swapping over I only made the guild on Cannith because it's my goofing around server, and I had the points there. I work on Orien more than that server myself.

Also Shrike, my sorceror found a +1 lesser goblinoid bane greatsword. I'll hold onto it for you unless I find something more useful in the meantime.

Re: DDO

Yep, that'd do me for a bit once I can get it. Tried to start it up yesterday, it said I had the wrong client installed, so after uninstalling/reinstalling twice, Kasiandra Furiesdottr now exists on Cannith, running through the tutorial again as we speak :)

EDIT: And the damn thing won't let me enter Korthos. o_O right, let's try fixing the game yet again...

Re: DDO

So yeah. This character creation seems a bit more than I'm used to >.<

It's probably just because I haven't played anything truly D&D for a while though, so meh. I'll probably figure it out if I fuck with it.

I was thinking having a Halfling Mechanic Master Rogue and an Elven Arcane Archer. Anyone have any suggestions, like different race for one/both, should go with a predefined path or should I customize them, etc.

NEVER, EVER use ANY of the predefined paths. I made one and had to completely restart >_<. Seriously, better off asking our resident D&D grease monkeys how to make a decent build >.>.

He speaks from experience and wisdom. the rogue builds especially confused the hell outta me when Keylo here told me what he had. Power Attack. What the hell kinda of self respecting rogue, whose path supposedly focuses on defensive fighting with a quarterstaff, has power attack? Apprently, all of them.

Re: DDO

I've done all of two levels on a barbarian path. I'm about to level again, I guess I'll just deal with the numbers.

Defensive fighting...? Rogues should focus on sneak attacks and being the party multitool.

Re: DDO

Something else I noticed for Lurker, the monstrous humanoid bane weapon you get on Korthos won't help with the kobolds. They're humanoid(reptilian) not monstrous humanoid like the sahuagin. I've got a sturdy dwarf fighter that I speed ran through Korthos last night on Sarlona, look for Bolnar. Are mauls any good weapon wise, or should I go with the great axe?

Shrikes having the same problems I'm having today, so I don't know when I'll be on next. Since that fix takes forever .

I finally made it to level 4 with my sorceror, he still sucks, but eventually he'll be good. He's not made badly it's just arcanists suck till you get to a certain level. Anyone have any good tips for spell choices? Right now I've got burning hands, mage armor, magic missile, and I haven't decided for my 2nd level spell yet.

LOL apparently every predefined path has you take freaking power attack. My first attempt at a character I made a two weapon fighter, and they had him take it also. Yeah avoid those predefined paths unless it doesn't really bother you.

For a skill rogue build I would say halfling, elf, human in that order. DEX, INT are tops for ability scores. The only other one to add a little to would be WIS. I would still go with dodge as your first feat rather than taking skill feats though. Followed by weapon finesse, then you can try experimenting more.

I may be wrong since I haven't made a ranger yet, but arcane archers can only be elves or drow as far as I know. I could be wrong though, haven't really looked at it so maybe someone else can help there.

Re: DDO

I haven't played the online version, but in pencil and paper D&D, power attack is the pre-req for one of the best feats a fighter can take: cleave.

From what I saw in the enhancement list, I think all rangers and all elves can do it. Non-ranger elf just picks up the enhancement later on. I'm not sure though, archer ranger isn't really worth it unless you're making a hit and run character.

Re: DDO

Yes it is a prereq for cleave, which is good in pnp. Unfortunately, I'm finding cleave isn't that useful in game. Since it's just a swipe at all the enemies in range, rather than the extra atttack after felling a foe. Some of the pnp stuff doesn't work as well in the game.

Ah I see another one of the differences between pnp then. Personally I'm not a fan of multiclassing at all in the game. Too many chances to gimp yourself down the line.
