Strategy RPG, they are the kind that you get a panel or something similar and you can move your units, much like a chess board, while still having RPG elements like levels/classes/equipment/etc

You probably know them alredy but try the rance games, some are similar at what you want (But more of a dungeon crawler) some are strategy (Sengoku rance and Kichikuou Rance both in english) but in general the games have a more entertaining form of play that normal hgames

it plays identical to Final fantasy tactics, depending on which routes you go you learn different skills and change the ending, there is like 16 endings, 1 for each girl.

Ive heard Kantai Collection mentioned a bit, but ive yet to find the game in there or a guide for it. Kinda interesting in it seeing how many manga has spawned from it lol

All the good DMM games that is worthwhile playing is currently Japan only. SO you have to bypass regional blockade otherwise don't bother.
