I'm a little bored and we did this idea on the original boards so I thought I would try it here. I'll give a category and evryone who wants to lists their top five in that category. After a week or after the category dies out, I'll give the next category and so on. First one will be books. I know there's always a book thread, but that's more looking for new books not your favorites. Yes I realize some of you will have trouble picking just five, too.

My top five books are in no particular order:

1. To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee
2. Animal Farm - George Orwell
3. Complete Stories of Edgar Allen Poe - Edgar Allen Poe
4. The Red Badge of Courage - Stephen Crane
5. The General's Daughter - Nelson DeMille

Re: Top five lists

- Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - Susanna Clark
- The Hobbit - J.R.R Tolkien
- Vinyl Cafe Stories - Stuart McLean
- The Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham
- Hacking the Art of Exploitation - Jon Erickson

Re: Top five lists

Elantris - Brandon Sanderson
Maximum Ride - James Patterson
Peeps - Scott Westerfeld
The Name of The Wind - Patrick Rothfuss
Beholder's Eye - Julie E. Czerneda

That is, if we're going for single books. If we're going for whole series(or authors, love those Tamora Pierce books), I'd pick different ones.

Re: Top five lists

Ooh Swiss Family Robinson I haven't read that since I was 10, I should see if I still have my copy. I guess no one really likes the classics, huh. Hmm, let's see how about next we do your five favorite movies of any genre.

1. Grosse Point Blank (the funniest movie ever in my humble opinion)
2. Halloween (The original, not the remake)
3. Black Hawk Down (Though I can't watch it withut crying)
4. The Alamo (The Duke's version)
5. Space Balls or just about any other Mel Brooks movie

Re: Top five lists

It's what got me started writing, believe it or not. Movies? Five? Gaaah.

1. Princess Bride
2. Usual Suspects
3. PotC: Curse of the Black Pearl
4. Beauty & the Beast (Disney)
5. Jaws
Honorable mention: Mel Brooks' movies. I concur.

Though the others are in no particular order, #1 is #1 for me, hands down.

Re: Top five lists

Movies, eh...

1. Scrooged (watched it for Christmas... Hi-fucking-larious)
2. Ironman (I loved it... nuff said)
3. My Fair Lady (A delightful musical)
4. Paths of Glory (One of the few war movies that ever got to me...)
5. The World's Fastest Indian (I can say that this is my favorite movie of all time... I love it sooooo much.)

Re: Top five lists

In no particular order
1) Lord of the Rings (all three are one movie in my opinion)
2) Black Hawk Down
3) Max Payne
4) Dawn of the Dead (2004)
5) Kingdom of Heaven

Also, Ronny I thought the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween was quite good.

Re: Top five lists

I think the only reason I don't like it is that it's not the same as the original. I'm too much a fan of the original.

Re: Top five lists

Don't be the fanboy Ronny. They're the ones who trashed the Dawn of the Dead remake just cause it wasn't 100% faithful to the original. Look at a remake as a new movie that just uses bits from the original.

Re: Top five lists

Hey there's always going to be fan boys out there. At least I don't think the newer one should be destroyed, I just prefer one.

Re: Top five lists

Might as well throw my five down.

1. The Dark Knight
2. Independence Day
3. Iron Man
4. Waterworld
5. Die Hard series

Alright, these are more or less the ones I'd watch the most given the pick of my most favorite movies. I'm still fighting over whether I should remove Independence day for The Princess Bride, though.

Except for Waterworld (never watched it), that's basically my top five list.

DARK KNIGHT FTW!!!

Re: Top five lists

#5: Iron Man. "How'd you fix the icing problem?"

#4: Spaceballs. Too many hilarious quotes to quote XD

#3: Jurassic Park. The first one. Poor man in the toilet.

#2: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The animated one.

#1: Independence Day. Will... Fuckin'... Smith. *Punch* "Welcome to Earth!"
