Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Detect magic doesn't require light, so darkness doesn't affect it. You'd have a problem with seeing directly where anything is since the darkness is magical in nature as well, so you'd have to make a spot check and they'd still get 20% concealment.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

That's a good point and well made, I wasn't expecting a faerie-fire-ish outline of the dude anyways. Got a few things to take care of, and then I'll post to that effect :)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate D&D vampires, because I really do.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Lol. +6 natural AC, Damage Reduction, and massive bonuses to Strength and Dexterity. What's not to hate, when you have to fight it?

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

I was thinking more of the whole gaseous form and run away part, but yeah that too.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Lol, he was almost out of health too. Some help the samurai was.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Funny thing, my acid damage should persist for 6 total rounds, due to being extended. That be enough to kill him? :)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Missed the extended part. Lets see.....
Actually, it's quite possible that he might die of the acid damage, if it rolls high enough. That'd be funny, vampire smokes away and dies as he tries to escape.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

So if a vampire dies in gaseous form does he reform after death or what, because I don't want to miss his loot.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

They reform, and turn to dust, leaving their equipment and clothes and such behind.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Ah acid arrow... such an underused yet useful spell... Lets hope it works! :)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

So, uh... Whose posts are we missing?

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Well, that'll teach me to think I can play D&D. Editing.

Keep in mind through, Shrike... He's taking acid damage every turn. Not sure that turning him will work for too long if you do succeed.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Well, the way I see it, there's three possible outcomes:

1) I succeed in commanding him (not bloody likely), in which case I simply tell him to start moving back towards everyone else, and he dies.

2) I succeed in rebuking him (my hopeful result), in which case he stops dead and cowers. I blast him, should be enough to finish him off with the acid damage.

3) I fail at turning him entirely (which is probably what's going to happen), in which case I still moved my hasted 60 feet after him, so he isn't getting away and I can blast him next turn or the turn after, hopefully finishing him off with that.

With any of the three, he probably ends up dead, and if he does manage to survive all that, we can still track him to his coffin and finish him off while he's weak. Anything anybody else does only adds to the likelyhood of success :)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

You can blast him in gaseous form?

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Not having the books around, I have no idea how well it will work, but I can sure as hell try ;)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

I'll try to post tomorrow, sorry but I've been getting a lot of company lately.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Don't worry about it too much, gives all the other non-posters a bit more time to catch up ;)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

All gaesous form really gives is 10/DR(Magic) and the ability to move like a gas cloud >_>

(meaning that time I tried to punch a vampire in gaseous form should've worked)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches D&D 3.5

Woot! My strategy is validated! :D
