Well that certainly makes me lean towards Yogscast in the matter, I did hear from other sources that Minecon was hastily and poorly planned in a too small of a time-frame, but that Notch was there in a state of exhaustion is new to me. Being tired has a very similar effect to being drunk, if Notch was tired then he has very little credibility. All in all, both sides seem to have forgiven each-other, let's hope both of them can keep it together without any more drama/attention whoring.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Okay, so Bukkit finally has a recommended build for MC 1.0.1. I'm not going to apply it right now, however, but rather, probably towards the weekend. There's two reasons for this:

First, it gives the mod makers time to update their stuff.

Two, I have not been feeling up to doing much of anything recently.

Give me time, and the server will be back up.

From the sounds of things, people want the new world to stay, so I think what I'll see about doing is making it the main world, so that Nether and End portals will work from it. There might be a way to get Multiverse to get Nether portals to work in non-main worlds, but I don't know it right now.

Slight problem with keeping the world as it is: You'll need to venture pretty far to find any new terrain like the new swamps and mushroom biomes. Also, the stronghold that Rule found won't have an End portal in it, and any new Strongholds will have to be spawned in new chunks.

With that in mind, people have until the weekend to change their opinion on the matter. Either way, what I'd like to do is set up a portal room that will go off to the other worlds so people can migrate stuff or go back for nostalgia or just plunder them.

Just sort of came up with an idea for a sort of extradimensional portal room set in its own world that has portals linking off to the others. I'll see about making this happen a little later on once the server's back up.

Anyway, Maiko out.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Personally I have pretty much nothing of value in the old worlds apart from some inventory, first world and second world has broken/no snow biomes anymore and the only project I had was together with Squid who hasn't been able to play recently anyways.

New world and a portal for moving shit over is my vote.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I don't care what happens so long as I can keep all my shit. Though I would like to see our current world kept as Bart and myself (mostly Bart though) have been working on an arena.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Everytime I try and pop on, the server says that nobody else is online, so I just havent, for the most part. i have loads of stuff i need to bring over from the other world, and i wouldnt mind either trying to finish my project, or finding some suitable place in the new world to do it in, not sure on that one.

Regardless, I'm alright with the wait.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I haven't really been on since before I moved out, I did pop in once after I got the internet at my apartment but that was just to check to see if my home was still in one piece. Skyrim and a couple of things has been attracting all my attention recently.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Okay, sorry everyone, the server computer is having some major problems. I'm taking off for the weekend, so I'll work on fixing it when I get back probably on Tuesday.

Very unfortunately, it looks like I might have to completely wipe the computer to get it to work unless I shell out some money to take it somewhere, and even then, they might have to wipe it. So be aware that it is very possible that people will lose everything, not just inventories.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

D:

No more tragedies please.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Destruction of the current server aside...

To give you an idea of how big this world really is, at around the 9:50 mark the host of the tour asks how long it would take to get from the party's present position to landmarks that casual Lord of the Rings fans would recognize. "We're only about 15 minutes away from Bree," is the reply. "With Rivendell, we're about three-ish hours away. Moria, we're about six hours away."

"You guys are sick," the host said. "You need help."

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

If there's a reset it would make it easier for me to jump back in... I'll more than likely jump back in anyway though. Missed building shit.

Damn, kept skipping my mind to reply. Don't let them reformat the harddrive; there's almost always a way to get the data off of the machine.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Any plans on starting up a new server, or is the old one going to be coming back at some point?

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

I do plan to bring the server back up. ETA: this time next week or earlier, depending on what happens. ETA subject to change, but I won't unless I have to. Sorry about the delays people.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Oh no need for apology. More wondering if we had any plans at all.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Status update:

I've backed up the server data to a USB stick, so people can relax about all their hard work being goners. That's the good news. Bad news: After performing a factory reset, the problems I've been having have persisted, so I'm thinking it's a hardware problem now. I'm going to take it to a computer repair place to have it looked at.

No ETA on when it'll be back up.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

So, to tide us over until Maiko fixes the server, I managed to set up my own server.

68.43.4.248:25565

Granted, it's completely vanilla until the guys behind Technic pack update Tekkit, but I'll be sure to notify you guys of any changes.

Re: ULMF Minecraft Server (Address can be found on first post)

Alright folks, Tekkit is out, and server will be down while I update it. Now, for those of you who have never played on a tekkit server, you need a special launcher to load the files without modding your minecraft all to hell.

and just run it, then connect to the server once I've finished the update.

Supposedly downloaded the launcher, however after it's said it's downloaded it's not actively working past that. No other launcher or anything kicking around the desktop, and re-running just leads to 'checking launcher' and then nothing. :/
