I'm trying to modify Angel Dance, but even though I've depacked the game, modifying the project doesn't seem to modify the skill in game. Is there a reason for this?
I've never seen this sort of behavior in an RPG maker game that didn't use script modifications, but I can't find the script modifications...

Why bother? Angel Dance skill probably unlocks with some high tier angel species
plus meddling the systems now may corrupt the game when part. 2 in the future released (since i'm expecting a patch to be the upgrade)

You should easily be able to replace all the changed files with original files. It shouldn't corrupt anything. Unless skills are somehow now saved within save files. Which isn't right.
Also, you cannot even change the skill before getting it to get a new version, changing it in the project. I modified the skill, then got it from Illias, and it had the OLD version of the skill, still, even though the game event specifically adds the skill that I modified.
As I just said, I've NEVER seen this happen before in a game. I can modify maps and have them reflect in the game as changed, but I cannot modify skills and have them actually be made right. This is... odd.
EDIT:
The game can run without Skills.rvdata2. Why? Because all the real data is being pulled directly from DataEx.rvdata2. This is most strange. I'm guessing it's some sort of conglomeration of all the support data, with some extra stuff that RPG maker can't handle? Or an anti-cheat method? Bears more looking into. It doesn't actually prevent cheating, because you can just modify a map to give you whatever you want.
Mage and archer? I think thief is the 5th job. I'm looking for the dual wielding class Kitsune has. Also, I know i asked before, but a translated job list would be greatly appreciated for us non japanese readers.
yeah that's a weird combo would have though at lest mage and thief anyway I just checked on both the kitsune the new one and the origanal one and they both are in the ninga class by what the translator say and they only have mastered those two jobs so must be a weird layout of the jobs list I wouldnt mind getting together a job list but navigating the jobs list crashes the translator and causes it to lag alot.
just unlocked time mage abit ago its fun to use on the non-boss enemies you can freeze them for good couple of turns
Not sure how far you are though the game but if you only just reached her unless your highly overleveled I wouldnt bother she still puts up a good fight still after I beat the final area.
what I did is have Luka spamming the 8/4 holy attack which did about 4000 dmg and had Ilias switch between lightning and heal/revives had someone else doing support and dmg but can't remember and also had Lily which you might find the most useful not sure if other character have it only found it at the end of the fight but she has a move which gives all the party a reflect magic buff which when she does the AOE which did about 500 to my characters it gets reflected and does 2000 back(reflect does fail sometimes but works 90% the time at the most one of party will get hit)
BTW checking the TT save to see if I've got all the monsters I'm missing three does anyone know where or how you get these (forgive my bad descriptions)
shining red bird between wolf girl and leech girl in the encyclopaedia
steel spider girl between chimera spider bug and the mecha girl you find with the king in the the encyclopaedia
Scylla in a pot under lily in the encyclopaedia
also just wondering but anyone beat Alice "normally" in hades yet so I've got a rough idea how high lvl I need to be
1. she is at the end of the Phoenix Feather quest that Amira gives you in Iliasburg. Head south of the bandit cave and through the tunnel to get there.
2. random encounter in the dungeon where you recruit Brunhilde (mecha girl as you put it). She is a relatively uncommon encounter on the second and third floor
3. located in the tower in the final tartarus (or if you have already completed the tartarus she is located in the tower east of the tartarus entrance). Make your way to the bottom floor with the prison cells and jars. Examine pretty much any unbroken jar to fight one.

Yes. You might not have triggered the quest. Outside of Amira I'm not sure who else can trigger it. Try speaking to Amira in the pocket castle and see if she will initiate the quest line. You might also have to ask around town to get it working. Can't say I'm too sure of any alternative triggers since I initiated the quest through Amira the first time I met her. You'll almost always be informed that a quest line has been activated in a certain area when your party comments about it upon entry to said area.
Assuming you may have triggered the quest and forgotten about it the steps iirc are:
1. head to the town through the tunnel and enter the house near the locked storage building in the southeast side of town, examine everything
2. speak with the occupant inside the tent next to the inn
3. head to the pub and speak to the hooded man at the far end of the bar, you can pay him for a keyword
4. go back to the occupant in the tent near the inn and exhaust all dialogue with her
5. head back to the storage building and try the door again, you'll see a little scene
6. make your way back to the pub and speak with the man in the green cloak sitting at the bar to receive the key
7. enter the storage building, examine the jar in the middle cell, and fight a boss
The Phoenix will join you after that.

Just did all that in order - I know that I've at least been in the house before, but I wasn't able to password or receive the key, nor do I get a scene when I examine the storage door. Wonder what I'm missing

You'll probably have to ask around in town then. Sorry I can't be of more help but I went through that quest pretty early on so I can't remember the exact progression.
EDIT: I looked a little further into it and it might be a bug. If you have already recruited Amira then try and speak with her in the pocket castle to start the quest. If that doesn't work you'll probably have to upgrade to v1.02 to fix it.
