Re: Project X: New update v3.5 Released 14th May 2012

Well they've got a new engine so, sounds like the game will be awesome when it comes out 6 years from now.

In the meantime.... fuck
Pretty much my exact sentiment.

'Look at all this awesome stuff that you're not playing' cock tease sort of way.

Yet glad they're having fun with their project.

If an adult furry trading card game could get funded successfully, I think ProjectX might have a chance?

Almost all of the Successful projects are 'furry'. I never realized that the fetish was so popular.

It's more that furies have no social lives and thus have a lot of disposable income to spend on crap.

Just look at Toonpimp and the prices he charged for his 'products'

Hah that's like saying anime/hentai fans are nothing but basement dwelling hermits with no social activity then fapping. Furries are just as social as anyone else and chances are you'd never know they where furry.

No, reason games like toonpimp and other furry games get such back up is cause it's a niche market that is pretty starved when compare to big boob hentai tentacle porn number 296. It's one of the reasons Toonpimp can get away with some of the things he does. *Shrugs*

On topic: I'm not really excited for this little update as it doesn't really give hope to them moving any faster. I feel like they're padding more unnecessary features when they still have such a slow development with their current project....ehh, but hey if it makes things easier then yay.

*Back to lurking*

Let's not talk about Toonpimp. It's just going to end up in wasted internet space.

He and Zet also said that there's an update coming soon which is why some of the new planned features were cut for time so if not an X-mas release than a New Year's one. But that's just what I've gathered ^^;
Welp. Unfortunately Nopen has just announced in the R-engine thread that there will be no Christmas or New Years release. Instead they're hoping to get it out "probably" in January. I guess an official estimate is better than nothing at all.

You forgot to mention that it WAS to be a Christmas release but with the sudden arrival of the new engine they had had to rework everything hence the delay.

You may not be wrong, they aren't releasing the next version until early next year, MAYBE.

I'm sorry, I know it's free, but I just feel like it's bull.

Slightly off topic:

Kyrieru announced that he started on a game and it will likely be done before the month is over.

Sometimes I feel they hold the fact over our head that the game is free.

I'm tired of waiting for it. And I mean that literally. It's exhausting.

And more often than not, the new content is simply not worth the waiting time. I know I'm coming off as ungrateful, but now I'm feeling pretty bad about the completion of this game.

You shouldn't be waiting with baited breath for anything in development, paid for or free. Live life as normal, check maybe once or twice a week. There's plenty of other things to do.

it really comes down to the fact Zeta started this as something to busy herself and practice coding skills. Unfortunately it still seems to be that way despite the fanbase and I don't think there's much we can do to prove that it isn't much more than that save for forking over some cold hard cash. Though that's not even a gurantee since it's entirely possible that people are already doing that.

Perhaps if they took some ideas from Fenoxo about how he updates based on cash and the success of his donation drives? Then at least they'd have some goal and deadline that we can all see instead of just waiting around and taking guesstimates around what time it will update.

Yeah, but this is something that they are all most likely doing on the side when they have time or feel like it. Having people give them money to complete it or make them have consistent updates can end up turning a fun hobby into a job. While being paid to finish would be an incentive for them to work more it will also burden them with a responsibility to finish it and that can suck the fun out of a lot of things.

Re: Project X: New update v3.5 Released 14th May 2012

Right now there are too many people working on the project for it to be turned into a successful monetary operation, UNLESS they got an exceedingly large influx of donations OR started actually charging for the finished project. Neither is particularly likely, and even if the first does happen, then they have to decide how to divide the money up. That can only end in sour grapes.
Once again, wait normally, stop being obsessive.

Yeah, that and Fenoxo does most if not all the coding for the game. He takes stories from other people and adds them, but also gives them some money for it too.

Let's be fair, Fenoxo is doing a text game?

No he doesn't, there's an event were people can donate to the writers who submit scenes, but usually they don't get paid unless it's a special event.

And fenoxo is also being paid to do it all. Granted, it's through donations rather than secure income. But I think he's nearing the $2000 a month mark. (It's at $1800 for this month)

If zeta was to buy things for her game, it'd have to come from her own pocket.

Also, she can't really have donations or even ads, as that can get her in trouble (since she's using sonic and all that). Fenoxo's all original creation.

Even if we're taking a somewhat long story, writing is quicker than drawing. I imagine making a single animation should be taking at least 1 to 2 days, if they are working on it non-stop and are pretty fast at it. Each small event should be taking fenoxo no more than an hour.

Yes, being talented AND writing good story is not that easy, but it does consume a lot less time than drawing. And since Project X is even animated, it adds that much effort into each little thing. And then they really enjoy having extra characters...

And to finish it all up, Fenoxo's able to work on it full-time, as it's become his job. Since it's his job, he'll do it and that's the end of it. Zeta has the benefit of "Oh well, I'm not feeling like it, I'll leave it for tomorrow". Fenoxo has a certain obligation to the donors.

And that's the way it should be, really. If a hobby starts feeling like a job, it's time to get another hobby.

I will be the first to say that I rather pay 20-30 bucks for this game instead of getting it for free and getting little to no news, month after month after month.

I really would, too, in a second. I love what they're doing.
