Re: The Game Thread

My general recommendation? Get the Spur, not the Machine Gun or the Snake.
Ah, fair enough, I got the Snake.

Re: The Game Thread

Ahh Spelunky. What a wonderful game, I used to play that a lot.
However I got bored of it after a while and beating the last boss.
City of Gold is what everyone should drive for however.
The level making is where the fun starts though.. I used to make many rage filling custom maps.

Cave story is also worth a play through! That game is AMAZING.
Specialy after you find the -BEST- ending.
Not to brag but I'm quite good at Cave Story, beating the final challenge under 5 minutes and all.
Also, Snake is the best overal weapon, and the sword is also awesome.
Spur is the easy mode if you can't take on the bosses otherwise.
Machine gun is allright as you can use it to fly when its level 3 and it does make some things easier but its not really worth it.

My gaming share;

Good old Doom but in Rogue Like form!

Simple ASCII Graphics, yet tons of fun and worth multible play throughs.
Don't expect to win immidiatly however!

And that's exactly what you do. Simple. Fun. Addictive.

Re: The Game Thread

I guess this is the best spot for it, was wondering if anyone plays Elements, basically a magic type card game. I've been playing it quite a bit lately myself, and if anyone wants a friendly match just ask. Though I'm not really all that good at the game.

So, uh... . It's a fabulous and badass game at the same time.
I know a bunch of people here play it, and I'd like to know their high scores. Mine's at 90030.

EDIT: 101696 now.

Elements is interesting. Been playing around with it, not doing too badly, but you definitely need to read the forums a bit. Just experimenting is rather frustrating.

Re: The Game Thread

Downloaded Cave story,
and The other one, the multiplayer one with the running balls shooting things.

I already HAVE spelunky, and that game is just so damn good,
just a tip to the original poster though,
Dem Damsels aint the only things you can sacrifice at an altar.

Thank you to all the above for your contributions, I may decide to give rep to those whom have found particularly good gems to contribute, well
not that my reputation means much :p, just putting that out there.

Yeah I know they aren't the only thing, but they're the safest to carry and they give you the most sacrifice points.

I hope this works.

If not, just search for "Closure." The instructions will tell you the rest.

Re: The Game Thread

A flash version of the original Super Mario Bros game, but now featuring some of the other NES icons to show the plumber how it's done. Samus Aran, Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Link, and Bill (blue guy from Contra) show up to tackle 1-1 through 8-4. All of them get power-ups based on their own personal arsenal from the mushrooms and fireflowers, and they also get to rock out to their own level music.

Even though the levels are all almost exactly the same, I think it's pretty awesome to see something like this. Powered-up Bill and Samus destroy everything on the screen, and Mega Man's good controls make him a natural. Link is implemented a little oddly though, and feels very weak. Simon Belmont, however, makes me want to pull out my hair in frustration at his jumping (in)abilities.

I think it would be cool to see other crossovers like this, where Mario, Samus, etc, take on Mega Man's enemies, or Contra. Anyway, enjoy.

Re: The Game Thread

Simon double jumps, and his axes destroy any bricks in his path. The biggest problem is that he is the only one to jump in an arc or not at all. Link seems to be made of fail. Everyone else ranges from average to superior, though Samus' cannon may give you a bit of trouble before you get a fire flower.
