Str affects damage, Dex is hit chance
The stat in this case follows D&D rules:
Str increase melee hit & damage
Dex increase range hit & dodge (AC)
First glance would seem like Str is the clear choice over Dex with any sort of melee built.
Though do note that there looks to be 2 resistance perk (feat) early on enabled by dex (14 dex I think?) that looks quite important once the full game comes out. At a guess I'd say for a virgin run you almost must have those resistance.
Haven't played the demo in a long time, but I recall one is knockdown resist, the other... hmmm... can't remember but I remember that it also seems important sex wise.
Well either way, I'm certain there will be some great perks for standard melee enabled by high dex later on too.
We'll see once the game comes out
