Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

"I don't have much that can affect multiple enemies." Malacet says to the other mages in the group as she begins weaving an orb of energy. "I'll see what I can do against the leader." She says, then chants some, finishing her spell and sending it straight at the man they had met earlier.

((Straight Blast, make it a spear if it's too far away but meh))

Carella attempts again to throw the acid, this time at the man, she didn't know who he was, but he looked kinda important.

(Since I know that with last initiative, everyone is going to engage in a large clusterfuck to stop me from lightning bolting...)

Geh, what is it with people and running between me and my targets. Granth mutters before sending a bolt of electricity at the half-orc.

(Scorching Ray with energy substitution electricity)

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

(Phoenix gets a cookie for making me laugh.)

1d20+16 = 13+16 = 29 vs DC18 = hit
1d8+1 = 7+1 = 8 damage

Aramil immediately sheaths his blades and draws his bow from the stairs, firing an arrow at one of the thugs near the door, hitting him in the stomach. The man stubbornly yanks the arrow out.

1d20+10-4 = 11+10-4 = 17 vs DC15 = hit
1d6+1 = 5+1 = 6 acid damage

Carellas throw is good, the acid flask shattering against the mans collar, the acid splashing one of his allies. The man starts tearing at his face and rolling on the ground as the acid burns, and he rises, removing a swiftly melting wooden mask. Rather, she rises, a woman with black skin and elven ears. (Yes. I went there.) She narrows her eyes dangerously; "You will pay for that when I have you on my Ladys altar!"

1d20+12+2+1 = 7+12+2+1 = 22 vs DC18 = hit
1d10+8+1d6 = 10+8+4 = 22 damage

Holi, ignoring the at the time rolling man, charges into the group of thugs to the left, all of whom are fumbling to reload their crossbows, and hacks at the closest with his axe, breaking several of the mans ribs and leaving a deep gash.

1d20+7+1 = 17+7+1 = 25 vs DC16 = hit
2d4 = 4+2 = 6 damage, lasts 2 rounds.

Tod fires a bolt of acid at the dark elf, which should have hit her right in the heart, but for some reason disappeared just as it made contact with her.

"Is that so missy?" Bolm taunts, before casting his own spell, one to bring a powerful light into the room. The drow woman appears blinded by the bright light.
(Casts daylight.)

1d20+7 = 14+7 = 21 vs DC19 = hit
1d20+12+1 = 16+12+1 = 29 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+12+1 = 16+12+1 = 29 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+7 = 13+7 = 20 vs DC19 = hit
1d20+7 = 3+7 = 10 vs DC19 = miss
1d20+7 = 2+7 = 9 vs DC19 = miss
1d20+7 = 9+7 = 16 vs DC19 = miss
1d10 = 5 damage
1d10+8+1d6 = 9+8+3 = 20 damage
1d10 = 1 damage

The injured man raises his crossbow and fires a bolt at the dwarf that just nearly killed him, hoping to kill Holi before he was cut in half. He's not so lucky, his crossbow bolt catches in Holis belly, but Holis flaming axe cuts him nearly in half, the swing cleaving into the next nearest thugs belly, opening a massive gash. Several of the men around him fire at Holi, including the man he nearly gutted, but only one is even a graze. the rest of the thugs continue to fire ineffectually at the samurai as he calmly walks toward the now revealed and blinded drow woman.

1d20+16+2+1 = 7+16+2+1 = 26 vs DC18 = hit
1d8+6 = 5+6 = 11 damage

Trex rushes in to help Holi, gashing one of the men who had fired at him.

The drow, unable to see her enemies to attack them, casts a spell to enhance her allies, hoping they can protect her long enough for her to recover.
(Casts Bless)

1d20+18 = 2+18 = 20 vs DC21 = miss

The samurai strolls calmly over to the drow, the blinding light directly behind him, and says; "You will die, no matter what foul form you take!" and slashes downward, the drow, apparently hearing him and realizing that he is going to attack, ducks and rolls out of the way, away from the samurai, the blade passing inches from her. "Your treachery will not go unpunished!" she shouts at him, as she regains her feet.
(He almost hit her on a 2.)

1d20+7+1 = 9+7+1 = 17 vs DC15 = hit
1d20+11 = 15+6 = 21 vs DC21 = success
3d6 = 6+4+1 = 11 damage

(She's not that far away, the building isn't quite that big.)
Malacets blast strikes the drow, and gets through her magic resistance to strike her as she rises.

1d20+4 = 7+4 = 11 vs DC10 = hit
4d6 = 6+6+5+2 = 19 damage
4d6 = 6+1+1+6 = 14 damage

Granth, for now ignoring the drow, fires at the surviving half-orc, the rays
of lightning making his hair stand on end.

(Drow at 23 damage, half-orc at 33 damage, Holis taken 6. One of the thugs took 20 damage from Holis cleave, another took 11 from Trex, 1 got splashed by the acid.)

Carella grins as she makes a running start and attempts to tackle the drow, knowing that elves generally weren't known for their strength, "I'd like... to see you try!"

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

Hmm... Drow, I'd hit her with one of my lightning orbs because they're damn near impossible to resist, but it looks like Carella is trying for some hugs. Well, then Mr. Half-Orc. Guess who gets more lightning? Granth says out before launching another bolt of lightning at the man.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

Seeing Carella trying to rush the revealed Drow, Malacet starts conjuring another orb, this one bursting into flames as she sends it on her way. If Carella was unsuccessful getting the preistess close, she'll throw it at her, otherwise, the half-orc Granth is firing at is her second target.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

Holi laughs maniacally as the pitiful attacks of the thugs, do next to nothing against him.

He then starts singing a Dwarven battle hymn aloud while unleashing a full attack at the closest thug.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

Order is: Aramil, Carella, Holi, Tod, Bolm, Thugs, Trex, Drow, Samurai, Malacet, Granth.

(If I screw up any rolls this post, make sure you let me know somehow, I'm pretty tired right now but I want to get through it sooner rather than later.)

1d20+16 = 18+16 = 34 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+11 = 10+11 = 21 vs DC18 = hit
1d8+1 = 3+1 = 4 damage
1d8+1 = 6+1 = 7 damage

The man shot by Aramil previously takes two more arrows to the stomach.

1d20+13+1 = 11+13+1 = 25 vs DC15 = success
1d20+13+1 = 17+13+1 = 31 vs DC15 = hit
2d6+4 = 5+1+4 = 10 damage

Carella jumps and wraps herself around the drow, holding her above her, and begins to squeeze, the sounds of bones cracking can be heard over the thugs shouting and Holis laughter.

1d20+12+1 = 19+12+1 = 32 vs DC18 = critical hit
1d20+7+1 = 5+7+1 = 13 vs DC18 = miss
1d10+8+1d6 = 8+8+4 = 20x2 = 40 damage!
1d20+12+1 = 16+12+1 = 29 vs DC18 = hit
1d10+8+1d6 = 2+8+2 = 12 damage

Holis next wild slash bisects the man he'd previously hit in the gut, the momentum of the swing burying his axe in the unfortunate man trying to get behind hims crotch. He falls to the ground, bleeding badly. The sight only makes him laugh all the louder.
(Total is now 2 dead.)

1d20+7+1 = 2+7+1 = 10 vs DC10 = hit
2d4 = 2+1 = 3 damage

Tods acid arrow hits the half-orc, still stunned by Granths ray of lightning, in the knee. He screams at the unpleasant burning sensation.

10d6 = 6+5+5+6+2+4+2+6+2+2 = 40 damage
1d20+7 = 14+7 = 21 vs DC21 = success
1d20+7 = 20+7 = automatic success
1d20+7 = 7+7 = 14 vs DC21 = failure
1d20+7 = 19+7 = 26 vs DC21 = success
1d20+7 = 5+7 = 12 vs DC21 = failure
1d20+7 = 20+7 = automatic success
1d20+7 = 9+7 = 16 vs DC21 = failure
1d20+7 = 17+7 = 24 vs DC21 = success
1d20+7 = 8+7 = 15 vs DC21 = failure
1d20+7 = 17+7 = 24 vs DC21 = success
1d20+7 = 14+7 = 21 vs DC21 = success
1d20+7 = 12+7 = 19 vs DC21 = failure

Bolm shouts; "In the dawns name, burn ye foul wretches!" and chants a spell, targeting the large group of archers still firing pointlessly at the samurai. Most of them see him just before he completes his spell, and dive away, but a few are still standing there when a column of flame comes down from the sky, immolating them. Those that dodged managed to avoid any harm.
(5 more dead, bringing us to 7.)

1d20+7+1 = 5+7+1 = 13 vs DC18 = miss
1d20+7+1 = 19+7+1 = 27 vs DC18 = critical hit
1d20+7+1 = 17+7+1 = 25 vs DC29 = miss
1d8+3 = 7+3 = 10x2 = 20 damage
1d20+7+1 = 16+7+1 = 24 vs DC22 = hit
1d20+7+1 = 5+7+1 = 13 vs DC22 = miss
1d20+7+1 = 10+7+1 = 18 vs DC22 = miss
1d10 = 3 damage

The man with the torn groin drops his crossbow and lashes out at Holi with a quickly drawn longsword, giving the dwarf a vicious gash on his face and cutting off a sizeable portion of Holis beard. Another man tries to attack him from behind, but the axe does nothing against Holis armor. The man fighting Trex likewise attacks with a glaive, but Trex simply glares at him as his best efforts don't even put a scratch on his armor. Meanwhile, some of the man Holi nearly fried fire there crossbows at him, only one of which manages to do any damage, the others turn and bolt toward the door. The man who had been shot by Aramil starts toward Trex, hoping to take the man from behind, while his fellows continue firing at the samurai. the half-orc, meanwhile, is sick of being shot at, and rushes straight toward them, which, unfortunately happens to be right in the path of the samurai. The burly warrior is cut in half, the blade moving so fast no one even notices that it had moved from its initial position until the samurai slowly moves it back to his right side.

1d20+16+1-3 = 20+16+1-3 = critical hit
1d8+6+3 = 6+6+3 = 15x2 = 30 damage
1d20+16+1-3 = 20+16+1-3 = critical hit (god damnit Trex)
1d8+6+3 = 3+6+3 = 12x2 = 24 damage

Trex quickly finishes off the man with the glaive with a powerful swing, cutting clean through the mans scale armor and catching the bandit trying to sneak up on him and cutting out his throat. Both drop to the ground and die.

5d4 = 3+3+2+3+3 = 14 damage

The drow, not wanting to be held down with a deadly man who hates her so near, turns her left hand toward Carella and shouts something none of you can understand, and a wave of flames pours out of a ring on her finger. The fire hurts, but Carella stubbornly holds on.

1d20+18-3 = 20+18-3 = critical hit (goodbye drow)
1d10+8+2d6+3 = 5+8+6+2+3 = 26x2 = 52 damage

the samurai finally reaches the prone drow, still raised slightly into the air by Carella, who, seeing the samurai and still feeling the fires sting, raises her a little higher and smiles wickedly. The angle is perfect, and the samurais sword decapitates the drow, the flaming blade cauterizing the wound so that no blood splashes onto Carella.

1d20+7+1 = 7+7+1 = 15 vs DC14 = hit
3d6 = 5+3+1 = 9 damage
1d20+7 = 14+7 = 21 vs DC21 = success

Malacet, seeing the angry half-orc cut in half and the drow decapitated, picks out a thug trying to retreat and lets loose, catching him in the back with a fiery bolt, but he tucks and rolls and doesn't catch fire.

1d20+4 = 5+4 = 9 vs DC14 = miss

"Damnit, I wanted that one!" Granth says, before picking out a thug and letting his lightning rays fire once again. His aim is off though, and the fleeing thug avoids the ray of lightning.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

Holi starts desperately trying to put the part of his beard back on with his hands, "Grr, stupid idiot why'd ya have ta cut me beard. I didn't need a shave."

As he realizes what he's doing is futile he looks around to see if anyone's left that he can vent his anger on.

(So are they all gone then, if not I'll attack any left.)

(The group off to the left is engaged by Trex and Bolm, the group in the middle is standing there shooting, no one's in the way, but there's only a few of them. Half the remaining group to the right is running for the door, and you've got a pretty much clear shot for either of them.)

((Oh, some are still fighting, alrighty. Scratch that then, cast darkness over the shooters.))

With the biggest threats effectively removed, Malacet goes a little defensive, creating an orb of darkness over the group of enemies that were still using ranged weapons.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

(I have to say, this fight has been a logistics nightmare.)

1d20+16 = 5+16 = 21 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+11 = 19+11 = 30 vs DC18 = critical hit
1d8+1 = 4+1 = 5 damage
1d8+1 = 5+1 = 6x2 = 12 damage

Aramil targets one of the running warriors, the one already wounded, the first shot hitting him in the small of the back, the second shot hitting him in the spine. He falls to the floor, dying.

(Doubt you'd have got much out of her anyway. And no action, so you get to sit there.)
Carella pushes the drows corpse aside, and rises slightly, looking slightly irate at the samurai for stealing her fun, she glances around, and seeing that all the interesting enemies are already dead, stays still.

(Been forgetting the haste effect the entire time. Doh.)
1d20+12+1 = 13+12+1 = 26 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+12+1 = 18+12+1 = 31 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+7+1 = 11+7+1 = 19 vs DC18 = hit
1d10+8+1d6 = 5+8+1 = 14 damage
1d10+8+1d6 = 6+8+4 = 18 damage
1d10+8+1d6 = 10+8+1 = 19 damage

Holi hacks at one of the few men still nearby as he sings, hamstringing him with the first hit, knocking him onto his back as he sinks to the ground in pain, and chopping his head off for good measure, though the bloody gash on the poor bastards chest would probably have killed him.

(Tods action.)
3d4+3 = 2+2+2+3 = 9 damage

Tod lets off a volley of magic missiles at one of them men still fighting, the bolts scorching him as they hit.

1d20+13+1 = 14+13+1 = 28 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+13+1 = 1+13+1 = automatic failure
1d20+8+1 = 16+8+1 = 25 vs DC18 = hit
1d8+6+1d6 = 3+6+4 = 13 damage
1d8+6+1d6 = 2+6+6 = 14 damage

Bolm wades into the group of men who'd fired at him with his morningstar, finishing in two blows the man wounded by Tods magic.

1d20+7+1 = 12+7+1 = 20 vs DC22 = miss
1d20+7+1 = 3+7+1 = 11 vs DC22 = miss
1d20+7+1 = 3+7+1 = miss
1d20+7+1 = 17+7+1 = 25 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+7+1 = 20+7+1 = critical hit
1d20+7+1 = 9+7+1 = 17 vs DC28 = miss
1d8+3 = 1+3 = 4 damage
1d10+3 = 4+3 = 7x2 = 14 damage

The archers drop their crossbows and draw melee weapons, all converging an Bolm, though none of them come close to hitting him. Meanwhile, the warrior who had attacked Holi with an axe attacked again, this time hitting hard enough to give Holi a little bruise beneath his armor. The man fighting Trex spins his glaive around him, then suddenly reverses and hits Trex directly in the face. Another man drops his crossbow and draws a sword to engage Trex, but his attack does nothing. His fellow, the last man in the center line, turns and runs for the door, jumping over the man with the arrows sticking out of his back as he goes. He is the last out the door, joining three others. Only five men remain in the inn opposing the party.

1d20+16+1 = 15+16+1 = 32 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+16+1 = 5+16+1 = 22 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+11+1 = 9+11+1 = 21 vs DC18 = hit
1d8+6 = 6+6 = 12 damage
1d8+6 = 6+6 = 12 damage
1d8+6 = 8+6 = 14 damage

Trex strikes back repeatedly against the glaive wielder, his three slashes forming and X with a horizontal line through it on the mans torso. He drops.

1d20+18 = 2+18 = 20 vs DC18 = hit
1d20+13 = 14+13 = 27 vs DC18 = critical hit (yes, he crits on a 14)
1d10+8+2d6 = 2+8+5+5 = 20 damage
1d10+8+2d6 = 6+8+6+4 = 24x2 = 48 damage

The samurai joins Trex and Holi in the left melee, now moving faster than a brisk walk. His opening slash opens a wicked gash along the mans side, and then he stabs him in the torso, impaling him, and lifts him off the ground, the flaming magic of his sword lighting the mans clothes on fire.

Malacet drops a spell of darkness on the group engaged with Bolm, which dispels Bolms daylight and blankets the area in darkness, figuring the cleric would be better off than the bandits. She hears Bolm laughing from inside the globe.

Granth, meanwhile, decides not to waste any more spell on the swiftly depleting enemies.

(3 enemies left, two of which are in the globe of darkness.)
