What's new

Re: Renfield

The only thing that really impressed me on this account was Bodyslide. It allowed you to set an ideal body type and morphed the outfits for you. But it really just allowed you to set a 0 weight and a 100 weight template. There wouldn't be any real randomness.

Enter Everybody's Different:

There was also a mod that did something similar in Oblivion. VanderApp's Real Bodies or something. It is actually built into Wrye Bash (but you still need the resources).

Random bodies is a huge improvement in both games, and was sorely lacking at the onset.

As for the challenge in getting this stuff setup, I concur. Make sure you are using the SKSE 1.7+ or the memory patch, that and ENB (with or without the actual ENB presets) created a stable Skyrim for me. Oblivion is more challenging, but I finally got my load stable there too. I've probably dedicated more time to learning the tools and mods than playing :D

Yeah that's what it comes down to.
That mod you linked is pretty remarkable.
I plan to approach various modders at Nexus and offer to buy resources from them.
So many talented people are making great faces, bodies, clothes, animations, etc.

Re: Renfield

I'm nearing the end of the CG capture process.
Animated scenes might have been less work after all.
It gets easier as I learn more about the software.

Development of other NPCs has also begun.
The towns, farms and other locations will have 25 unique characters in addition to various generic ones.

Re: Renfield

I have always been interested in knowing if the Japanese have any interest in this art style. Yes, I know some games exist on dlsite with this style, but feedback seemed really limited and it just doesn't appear to be popular on the whole.

That's a very good question.

I would say that there exists a tremendous demand for it.
Some of the most complex H-mods for Bethesda games were made by Japanese modders.

Also, many east asian rpgs have a medieval fantasy theme coupled with semi-realistic art styles.

Hopefully there's a sizable market for this type of art.
Most of the sales of Renfield will likely come from the Japanese side of DLSite.

Re: Renfield

well that right there is like my favorite/hated position. can't think of a more helpless and horrifying position to be raped in then that. really wish there was something I could do to help you other then cheer you on.

The comments help me more than anything.
Helps me keep going.

Re: Renfield

Slowly but surely putting the basics of the engine together.
Here's the inventory and character sheet.

Once I've got the towns laid out I'll release another playable alpha.

Re: Renfield

Nevermind the sword, that floating building in the far right is lraving my depth perception discombobulated!

Pick 2 of these.
One for the 1-handed war axe, another for the 2-handed greataxe.
The size, color, shader and tint can all be changed.

Or you can suggest your own design.
These 6 axe models were free.
But if you know of a good axe model that isn't too expensive I could use that.

Re: Renfield

It makes me feel better about my own project when I find terrain glitches in a AAA title.

On another note, I'd forgotten how simple the combat was in Elder Scrolls games.
That too makes me feel less insecure about the combat in Renfield.

Re: Renfield

now that is more of what I'm looking for! 1st one for the 1H, and 2nd from last for 2H. lol can you change there sizes? cause it would be awesome if the 2H was crazy big like presea's axe.

Re: Renfield

I am extremely busy right now and haven't gone through this thread in detail, but I'd just like to suggest that you may be too ambitious with this project. 1H/2H weapon systems is indicative of a level of depth that most people simply don't care about in an h-game. Most people want porn with a tiny bit of pretext and maybe some context, not skyrim with porn on the side.

I wouldn't want to see someone so ambitious burn out because they started a game that was too, well, ambitious.

I've never played the Elder Scrolls for the combat unless we're talking about sneak assassin or archery. Everything else is just boring. However, the combat WORKS because the game is primarily about being a character. I'd make sure for your game just focus on the parts you want to make substantial and people aren't going to bug you too much about the combat.

Yeah I keep downsizing the project as it progresses.
The finished release will be maybe 1% of what I originally planned.

But after the initial release I plan to keep adding and expanding.
Eventually I want a game that can stand on its gameplay merits alone.
