Rance series dealocked?(Rance 9)

Re: Rance series dealocked?(Rance 9)

i see, now that is a lot of info. i never really joined the rance love until sengoku. which im sure was the one to lure the most people in lol.

Same here. This actually has me interested in the earlier translated Rance games, but a part of me wants the untranslated games in English one day as well. I think it's a personal thing, but so far the only VN I've played lately in Japanese is Eiyuu Senki, something a friend recently got me into(and that's a whole other avenue of discussion). I think I most prefer to play VNs where I know what's going on, I guess.

I still have Sengoku Rance on my laptop too. I occasionally play new game pluses or free for alls once in a while.

Edit: Reminds me, I have Rance 1-3 on an external device, waiting to be played, and I just looked it up out of curiosity. Didn't know 4 was translated. Apparently, it's just Kichikou Rance, 5D, and 6. Rance Quest is being translated by Tulip Goddess Maria, so it looks promising(I say this knowing jack shit beyond that TGM translated Rance 3 and 4/4.1/4.2).

The over all gameplay of Rance 1-4 is rather shite though (2 isn't as bad as it's had the updated re-release translated so at least the CG is nice) the earlier pictures of Ferris are, in order of appearance, from Rance 6 and Rance Quest Magnum.

Rance 6 is still untranslated but very playable as it has fairly good info on the wiki, but all things considered it won't be all that much longer for a translation to be done (give it a year orso with the rate things are going now)

As for a working proxy for the alicesoft site, best of luck, I've been unable to get one to work ;/

But yea the story of the Rance universe is a pretty amazing one, and a rare occurrence where story and gameplay are unified somewhat seamlessly and (actually being the oldest straight series of games) lacks any major internal contradictions to it's story. Another great thing is just how much (yet at the same time, how little) Rance changes as a character and matures throughout the series (and in Rance IX he's grown to more closely care for his "inner circle" apparently)

I don't see anything wrong with the wiki, I think that maybe Pashek's first language isn't english and is misinterpreting some words in the wiki.

I REALLY wonder how 'Dark Rance' look like.
Can anyone point him out in the E-H gallery, which scene he appear?????

I had just checked the main article, not those links... my bad. Though I have to point out that those articles were made by obvious trolls. I mean come on.

Re: Rance series dealocked?(Rance 9)

Well I did some digging and this is what I came up with, in order of appearance:
1. Dark Rance as seen in Rance 6 (where you first meet him)
2. Dark Rance and Ferris as what appears to be fugitives, Ferris looking rather broken
3. Ferris in Rance Quest Magnum, recovering from being impaled by Chaos (also looking a lot less mindbroken)
4. Dark Rance in Rance Quest Magnum, looking quite a bit older

Note that the sword Dark Rance carries is some kind of special sword given to him by the lord of devils who has taken an interest in him. Apparently the sword turns the anger and despair of its owner into power, which partly explains how every time after defeating him in Rance 6 he gets significantly stronger (you fight him several times where he wants to get revenge for his mother, before you actually go save her)

It's bloody impossible to find decent images of them though, so enjoy the shite quality ;]

That's cool to hear about Rance 6. As for the first four, it's mostly a case of me eventually getting around to stuff in my backlog no matter how old it is and how long it takes to get to it. As a general note, my backlog for just about any type of media, VN, anime, TV...is pretty big. So yeah, I'll get to them eventually. Just not sure when.

Re: Rance series dealocked?(Rance 9)

For those who are interested in looking at the website, I would suggest looking into using VPN to change your location on the internet. I will say nothing more than that so use it at your own risk and you never heard it from me.

Maria is currently translating GalZoo and Rance Quest (Maria already cleaned up the previous translator's messy, blocky text). The translations progress, as we know, is: Quest messages: 3.95% (around 100 files from 3%) and Quest strings: 20.60%. Arunaru is currently working on Kichikuou Rance and has it at: 55.8% translated, 42.8% edited. Also Daiteikoku translation is back from Haitus and around 50% done with patch Soon™ (but it's basically polished google translate, not like non-native speakers can notice).
Rance 01 (the remake) also been picked up by some team on Hongfire.
