Member Announcements Thread

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Ah, a new person smart enough to ask questions when they are lacking information. Refreshing. Ignore Toxic, he appears to be filling in for Obe given that he appears to be absent.

Mind the gap is old hat on ULMF. It was a phrase that, if I remember correctly, was first used because we had a number of people post an introduction and then nothing else - as if they'd said 'Hi' at the door, then taken one step forwards and fallen into some abyss, never to be seen again.

So, in the same way that people in real life will tell someone to mind the gap if there’s an unexpected pitfall, some members started telling people to mind the gap after they made their post in the introduction thread. We’ve kept it up since.

At least you're not being blindsided by the task. Best of luck to you, Toxic.

I was blindsided by his leaving. He called a meeting AFTER

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Yeesh. Definitely doesn't sound pleasant, then. Wishing you the best of luck with it.

Woo!

I suggest evaluating the local friend chicken in addition to the other things you were planning.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

So yesterday a grumpy woman (the boss) at the place I'm currently working told me I had 'Man-flu' and indirectly told me that going to the doctors would be a waste of time. I'm fairly certain she was mentally accusing me of trying to skip a day of work.

And today I've been diagnosed with Pneumothorax. So eat that you dismissive elderly grump!

It's just a very minor Pneumothorax right now, and should be simple to treat, so nothing worth me worrying over now that it's been properly diagnosed. The doctor did also confirm for me that I don't have the deadly man-flu. What a relief.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

You have a pneumatic thorax?

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Something like that. Pretty cool huh.

[Edit - Also a partially collapsed lung, as part of the package. It's all quite novel honestly.]

Re: Member Announcements Thread

I just felt like sharing this.

Yesterday my boss fired me from my workplace (Subway) for adding too many condiments to the costumers' sandwiches. At the hearing of this, I threw my hat to his face and walked out of the door, and while rising my middle finger I shouted "See ya later fuckers!"; after that, I ran off.
After arriving to my appartment, I went to the computer and accepted the other job offer which was given to me three days ago. Now I work at a research laboratory. I'm starting on Thursday. Wish me luck for my new boss not to be a dickhead.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Well, not exactly the best if you want a recommendation in the future *laughs* but, well, good luck to ya.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Don't put too many condiments on those sandwiches you're researching.
