Re: Lily of the Valley - NTR H-English Game [ver0.6]

I dont care about this game, tried it, didnt like it much but the fact that they still have 300+ patrons and nearly 1700$/month when the last news post was in April is mind boggling.

Re: Lily of the Valley - NTR H-English Game [ver0.6]

in contrast with my other favorites games like The Humbling Experience or some games that the author has to code and the artist has to draw the characters like the guys from the heaven studio and zombie life and so on, one thing I don't get is what can take them 5 months to release an update?
I mean the author of zombie life hired several artist for each game and they have to draw the characters of course for each scene and I can see they're releasing updates each months. and of course they do care about the fans and the players and more importantly the supporters of their works. they communicate with them and give them news about the projects. you can see another example in the topic of alansya chronicles that they constantly answering people.
these five months created a question mark over my head that I can find any solution to that.
at least they tell people they're stopping or not :|

Yes its taking a long time and i fear they just dropped the ball.
The biggest sin for me for these patreon games developers is (intended?)
Lack of communications from the developers...

No communication at all for months make you wonder if some of them are serious at all.
I mean if you receive that much money from supporters the least you can do is communicate. Failing to do is an insult to the people supporting you.

Of course there's always the chance they are deliberately stalling to keep the money flowing when they already stopped working on it. I hope that not the case but my experience lack of communications often means an abandoned project...

There is anyone here who still believe in this "0.7" version? :T

5 months is indeed a long time but Lily of The Valley does A LOT of assets and releases A LOT of scenes in comparison with other 3D games so long patches are not too strange, but long I mean 2... max 3 months, obviously not 5 months. I for one still have faith, but yeah, 5 months with no communication is kinda... Worrying. Maybe he's just going through a rough patch? I think Key' has some sort of communication with him? I'll ask around, see what's up.

Granted, 5 months is a lot of time.

Nergal (Zombie's Life, Urban Demons) has the artists he has commissioned as you said and per update IIRC there were maybe 3 scenes, correct me if I'm wrong.

Alansya Chronicles is again, a commissioned artist with around 4 scenes per update.

Now I'm not bashing either of these because the quality has always been on point and obviously, frequent updates is always a bonus.

PandP on the other hand is just the two of them (is it two of them? Again correct me if I'm wrong) doing 3DCG which is obviously time consuming with posing and the like as well as doing the animations which I can only assume is a pain in the ass to get looking as good as it does.

And then comes the coding and the dialogue (of which English isn't their mother tongue I'm pretty sure). And coding is a landmine in of itself.

Anyway, my point being that as far as I understand the differences between Nergal, HeavenStudios and PandP, comparing the two to PandP is a bit uneven considering.

Only one I'm unsure of is Humbling experience but that is also 3DCG isn't it? Depending on how they work could be a fair comparison to PandP but again, I haven't looked into Humbling so I wouldn't know.

I am agreeing however, that communication has been poor, as in, dad left at childbirth poor.

Edit:Also, if I understand their recent comments correctly, the next update includes 300 cgs and 14 animations so, there is also that :D

Lily was the game, that brought me into this world for real.

They could have at least posted just a picture and progress update.

Then again, if they release an update now and everyone jumps back on, they can do this again for half a year, on no one will bat an eye on that then.

Just a small correction there, we are not a commissioned artist, we're a team, he's part of the circle and owns it as much as I do.

And English is far from my native tongue x'D

That much is obvious tho :\

Ah, yeah I wrote that poorly.

Why not? If his update justifies 5 months of work, well, the updates weren't steady and it's far from optimal, but, you know, depends how you see it, in the end you're supporting the artist, not the game, if he justifies 5 months of work in 5 months, he's still those 5 months closer to finishing the game. Right..?

Ok, in that regard then I can get behind it.

It was just the way Deepsleep said it sounded like PandP would just abuse the time (maybe abuse isn't the right word but I hope you can get where I'm coming from) because he can. Now that I've read it again I can see maybe I'm reading into things. Boh well.

Anyway, regardless, I haven't been one to complain on their patreon since it doesn't contribute anything and I'm still gonna be there for the quality so :D

Yeah I mean, so far can't jump the gun here, this is unprecedented on their part as far as I know. It's like nowadays everyone is afraid Patreons are gonna turn Breeding Season. There's a few out there who are clearly milking Patrons for their money so yeah.

Oh I agree. There are definitely Patreons that don't offer anything of substance but they keep getting money. But oh well, its not my money so ^^

Still, it's no excuse for not posting anything in 5 months. It doesn't take that much time to post some future scene pictures and write how update development goes.

But let's see how it goes.

Just like deepsleep said, PandP brought me to 3d in these games with how much work they put into LotV. I actually prefer the bigger updates even tho it takes a little longer to put them out. But no communication to their supporters other than "were still alive", is kind of like a middle finger to the fans. I hope they release v7 soon and continue to work on this with more communication during the rest of the game.

Re: Lily of the Valley - NTR H-English Game [ver0.6]

I've lost my faith here.

I really hope they'll make a comeback and drop a huge (I mean, REALLY HUGE) update that justifies this 5 months with almost no news from them.

My main grudge against it isn't the time itself, but the fact that they have gone dark, completely disappeared. Only making a few words post on their patreon page, without justifying anything or trying to make a better communication with their patrons, but they dropped the ball on this forum. acapicaso used to post regularly here, but he suddenly disappeared.

I really hope they don't pull an Impure here, that's obviously milking his patreons. He completely disappeared from this forum after another patreon developer (sorry, forgot who it was) pointed out his lie about how patreon had blocked his income or something like.

I'm done pledging for P and P. I used to have high expectation for this game. The one responsible for the writing seemed to really understand what netorare means. I'm not sure who he is, but I suspect that he is a guy that used to post on the NTRPG thread.

They'll have to deliver a huge and amazing update and comunicate better with their patrons before I consider pledging back to them.

I guess I'll just go back and re-read elf's visual novels since it's becoming really hard to find a decent netorare work nowadays.

Its completely justified and reasonable for people to be suspicious about this.
Patreon gives way too much free reign to creators - no quality control, no deadlines, no refunds etc. You basically give complete strangers your money and hope they dont spend everything on booze and whores and actually release something worthwhile from time to time.
I support several porn creators on Patreon and they all have 2 things in common: 1) i like their content 2) they release patches at least once per 2 months. Unless its charge per major release in which case i dont care how long it takes.
