It's a she actually. I thought she'd really dig it since she'd be totally into the overall theme of the game. But alas! The Japanese language is stopping her from installing it. I've already sent her all the files too. All that she needs is the Japanese language pack, (which she refuses to install).

But seriously, no offensive to your friend but what irrational, low brain powered fear do she (and you others) have of just installing the language pack? It's not hard, it's quite fast, and only requires a restart. Just do it damnit!! I'm sick and tired of the "Why won't this game work?" or "why can't I see the text?" questions popping up in nearly every thread....IN NEARLY EVERY THREAD (this is important so I said it twice) where the answer is they didn't or don't want to switch to JP unicode!

Just stop playing the games if you can't do something so simple!

P.S. To you new comers this is to be expected, so no biggie if you encounter those problems.

I don't get what the big deal is. She can just tag the little square in the Language panel and windows will install it all by itself. Most of the time, it doesn't even require any downloading or special files (exceptions being older windows versions). But even if it DOES, it's still automated. Did you ever think that maybe she just doesn't want this game?

Anyway, it's probable that even if there is an english version ALL the requirements to play will remain. Specially so because there's certainly going to be at least one untranslated character lost in some sort of spaghetti code somewhere.

If she doesn't want to do it, she doesn't want to do it. Don't push it, let it go, not like it's important.
It's very unlikely that we'll ever have a complete translation, I'd go as far as doubting that a BIG partial (like over 50%) translation would ever show up. And, again, all of the game's requirements would HAVE to remain (meaning, if it needs japanese locale/fonts right now, it'll still need those later and so your crazy friend still will deny the glory of her hard drive to it).

Have you tried sending her detailed instructions on how to set her system locale to moon runes? Maybe she's just incredibly computer-retarded and too embarrassed to ask for help.

Well, to answer all your burning questions, I did get her interested... at first! However, I think after having her download the game AND the RPGMaker dlls AND AGTH to read text from the game AND applocale... she just went, "enough of this shit". The last step is the japanese language pack but I think she just gave up and won't listen to me anymore :/.

Too bad really! She would've gotten REALLY addicted to this game.

Don't mean to intrude on your privacy here, you don't have to answer, but if you're a guy, is this girl your girlfriend? (sorry to generalize, but I am assuming more than 50% of the world is still heterosexual)

Nay, not a girlfriend... sorry to disappoint, lol! She's a online friend from when I played 'Neverwinter Nights' a lot. But yeah, she'd be totally into it if this was in english.

Actually most of my neg rep came from me defending Toonpimp back in the day when I first joined and I never really gave enough of a fuck to attempt to get any positive rep.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the mods are odd with the whole loli/shota rule. Monster Girl Quest is allowed to be posted while One Shota isn't. I think the rulings depend on the focus. Monster Girl Quest's main characters age is questionable as it never states the mains actual age, so it somehow got allowed based on that even though at the beginning it did have a small part with obvious lolis. If the games main focus isn't shota/loli I guess the mods let it pass.

She apparently has the attention span of a fly, as it's really not that difficult to install the RTP, AGTH and TA is drag-and-drop install, and the language pack is a freaking Windows Download option for Windows 7/Vista.

Well... there's no deadline to play the game. I don't know how long it will take but I'm sure she'll try it eventually and realize I was RIGHT!

And can I just add... I really like the blacksmith system in this game. Naughty bits aside it really puts the 'magic' back in 'magic weapon'. Though everybody likes to buy that 'Adamantium Blade of Fire' for a cost that bankrupts entire kingdoms, (which common blacksmiths have a unlimited supply of) keeping the one sword you have really gives you the feeling of, "hey... this is special sword". It's like Frodo and 'Sting' but where 'Sting' would require you to not fuck elven women or it won't detect orcs anymore. Anyway, there's other NON-pervy things I like about the blacksmith system that I can't really think of at the top of my head right now.
