Re: In today's news...
With the Disney pirate thing... Most people I know, when you talk about pirates, will think of pirates as having these:
- Hooks or pegs for limbs
- eye patches
- scars
- pistols
- swords
- grog
Basically, the whole skull and crossbones, Captain Blackbeard thing. Not the Disney stuff. Disney just based their movie off of the common stereotype. Essentially, the stereotype came first, Disney came second.
Also, when comparing ninja's and pirates, you either compare the stereotypical versions, or the strongest versions.
Stereotypical has ninjas being stealth operatives and pirates being unwashed sailors with pistols. In this case, a pirate wins in a straight on fight and a ninja wins in assassinations.
The strongest version has ninjas being your medieval special forces and the pirates being Somalians with automatic weaponry. In this case, the pirates win. Always. Medieval tech can't beat metal ships and automatic weaponry.
