Re: Katawa Shoujo

Is there any way to full disable all nudity, H-scenes etc. in the game?

Re: Katawa Shoujo

when i first played the "demo" half a year ago or so i don't even expected H content and was captivated into the atmosphere. I'm surprised now that there is a thread about this in a hentai games forum :p

@lolcats, yes you should be able to deactivate the H content in the options.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

I only gave this a chance because Mike Inel, a guy I watch and like on DA said he did the animation for it and gave it a nice review of sorts. I never play these types of games and I have to say that it's already AMAZING, regardless. I'm only about 6-10% done (And a couple hours in, I've heard some people playing it for 24 hours straight and not finishing.), not even past act 1 (You decide which girl you'll be with past act 1) and I love it.

Great characters, dialog is pretty funny, I haven't gotten bored of the art in the least. Basically, I'd highly recommend everybody try this. I'm enjoying it without even nearing the H content, didn't know there would be any but that should be a nice bonus. There are 6 main girls but for some reason, the pink haired girl isn't considered as a "path", maybe because she's like a part of Shizune, the glasses girl (You'll find out about it quickly). You really do kinda fall in love with the characters, the writers did a great job. I find myself wanting to know more about them like a real girl at times, obviously their personalities are exaggerated a bit to make for a good game, but you can still see some reality and truth in it. Like some other people said here already, it's a really fulfilling game that can be posted here for the later, h content which is great. I can bet that once you actually reach it, if that's your goal, you'll like the characters so much it'll be more enjoyable than random images.

Thinking of taking Rin path first, her sense of humor is great, and an artist.

Also, I lol'd so hard at "Give me a hand" Pretty amazing how much fanart there is already and it was just released, guess there was a demo earlier.

So to sum up, if you've never cared much for love/dating sims, etc, this just may be the rare exception to the rule for you as it has been for me, it's a really cute game with a ton of content, 20+ people worked on it for 5 years apparently.

Jesus, everyone is going crazy over this game everywhere I go.

I might just try it out later after finishing Yakuza.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

Accidentally ended up in a different girl path than I planned, I thought the distinction would be more obvious, luckily I think it's pretty easy to change, least there was a cute little animation entering into her part 2. One downside I'd say, doing things that seem to not have much effect on your relationship with a girl can either lock you in to only them or lock you out of them instantly. Basically every choice, regardless of how small or unrelated it seems, can lead you into a forced decision. Not sure if that's the norm or not for these types of game, wish I could choose any option and still have a chance to choose the girl myself. I'll just say I care about my real and fictional health, and it seems to force you towards a certain girl always to do so.

So I'd recommend you save at most, if not all decisions if you're going for completion or a certain girl.

"That's because you're out of shape! You need to gain some flexibility, here, let me show you", girl.

She then reaches down and puts her head between her legs. (Description)

Hisao thinks to himself: God bless you.

Hilarious. Actually, I might stick with her now, haha.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

I want to hop on the bandwagon of compliments here and say for an indie game made by a crew of folks on the Internet this is an amazing game.

The characters are believable, they have flaws and strengths. The music is fun and very well done, I adore the art-style, and the animations are fantastic!

As has already been said several times; if you often ignore H-Novels for the lack of any real story beyond the sexual, play this game. So far I love it and will probably play through each of the character paths :3.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

Well, I just finished the Hanako route, and the only thing I have to say is.. I want more. ;A; I don't want the romance to end just there! Oh well, four more girls to go!

Also, is it just me, or whenever Hanako speaks, does anyone else hear Nyanners in their heads?

Re: Katawa Shoujo

I pretty much adore this game.

I've been following it since act one was released, and I've been pretty interested in it ever since.

I love visual novels, you see. Thinks like Yume Miru Kusuri and this game especially.

The primary reason, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, is that well made VN's are essentially romance novels for men. With pictures!

I love romance, but I'm not a huge fan of the cliched genre of romance that women eat up.

I suppose I'm odd in this respect, but when I say I don't play them for the porn, I'm entirely serious. I really just want a male romance novel.

I've heard some complaints that the sex scenes in this game aren't super hot, but they ARE extremely important to the story and help dramatically. To be honest, I heard similar complaints about YMK.

This is really a very good game, and it's very sweet as well. All of the girls are adorable, but I particularly like Rin and Hanako.

I just finished Rin's route, getting the good ending. My general reaction is, "WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE EMOTIONS?!!?" It's really very engaging.

I'm going to try Hanako's route next. Just as a note if you do try Hanako; after act 1 if you try to treat her like a moeblob, it's my understanding that leads to a bad end. Pay attention to her reactions to what you do.

Many speak about Lily's route as the best. I'm not attracted to her, so I haven't tried her out yet and probably will do it just to see the story. Lily and Shizune's routes are apparently divisive; a few people like them the best, but most find that they have some flaws. I wouldn't be too hesitant about playing them out, though.

Overall, for a free game developed by a first time (and one time only) group of random people off the internet, this game is SPECTACULAR. It's not quite YMK good, but expecting that would be crazy. And yet, it's only slightly less good. I like it a lot, and would recommend it to basically anyone.

And yes, it handles the disabilities very well. You don't really think about it much once you get into a girl's act.

Was thinking the same thing, Act 1 seems like more of a chance to over expose their disabilities, kinda like the MC is coming to terms with it still as he contemplates how he should feel about them, afterwards so far in my one girls path, it's barely recognized and I really like that. So I'd say if you play this just to get with disabled girls, that's pretty weird and you may not like it too much :p

The girls also seem to suddenly take on a lot more life, my girl basically suddenly started swearing out of nowhere after act 1, which I thought was weird but it's kinda fitting.

I tried not to spoil much for people so I wasn't mentioning names much, I wanted Rin and ended up with Emi, and I have to say she's pretty great so far, I stuck with her anyways. A lot of people on their forums noted she's one of the easier girls to get pathed to on accident, and I learned how to go the Rin route as well as some of the other girls by now. Will certainly replay through most the girls.

If you want to go the natural route and not get told of how to stick with a girl, just remember that every decision is a test and you want to answer to what the girl seems like she'd like of course, while avoiding the other girls (Sometimes you even have to be kinda rude or purposefully slack off in things that you shouldn't, which I'm not a huge fan of but I guess it works.) so it kinda makes you try to understand their personalities, even early on, which is kinda fun.

Just got to an adorable scene with Emi, HHHNNNNGGGG'ing so hard.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

Just finished Emi's route.

Now, I am hesitating to rey for another girl's route, 'cause if another route makes me feel a similar surge of emotions, I might be an emotional wreck by the end of it.

Damn, when did I become like this?

Dead serious, I'm in act 3 or so of Emi, and playing this game after choosing her path made me make room in my room for my treadmill that my family blocked off with furniture and run over 2 miles this morning for the first time in quite a while, going to keep doing it everyday now. Thin but out of shape, plan to fix that.

Feels good man.

I played Emi first, seriously felt the same way you do.

I didn't quite get into Shizune as much as I did Emi though.

2 down, 3 to go >_>

Manly tears, just finished Emi's as well, I don't know how another path could top that. I'm curious about the other girls, but I certainly get why it's difficult for some people here :p

I think I am looking forward to Rin and Hanako the most. Emi's was amazing though and I'm really hoping the others can match the huge grins the game brought to my face followed by that soul-crushing sadness :(.

I didn't really like Shizune's ending as much, the story was still great but I'm a sucker for the happy couple at the end; not the happy "potential" couple.

Just remember everybody, we have spoiler tags. If you'd like to talk about the story, but not wish to ruin it for anybody, put in {spoiler}{/spoiler} and replace the {} with [].

Re: Katawa Shoujo

Maybe mention what your spoilers are hiding, so people don't have to click it, read it, spoiling it for them anyways, to find out what's inside it :p completely negating the reason to use a spoiler tag in the first place.

Example:

Fake girl finish spoiler:
And you end up with aids. Aids. Aids. Aids.

Luckily I didn't plan on going Shizune route unless I was really bored anyways, mister ruin story plot.

Re: Katawa Shoujo

I've been wondering, what are the sex scenes like?

Because I fear this image may be correct:
