Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

The cook acknowledged Tlech’s request quietly, setting to work to quickly mash up some worms for her. "Tanks" she said when he gave it to her, beginning to eat in silence. On another day “sitting” in such an odd position with her ass exposed might have prompted some kind of abuse or molestation, but her fellow goblins left her alone. The fullbloods were assholes enough to all of them, and there was no need to increase the suffering of one of their own regardless of the situation. After all, some other day it would be them in that position, and if they took advantage of others then others would certainly take advantage of them given the chance. Even Ab didn’t attempt to bother her despite it being well within his rights to so, something she noticed. Her quickly eaten meal sated her hunger at least, and a full belly did wonders for her mood, though she still wasn’t exactly happy. "Sorry t’be sich a sourpuss" she said quietly as she swung herself off the barstool and onto her feet again, waving to the others as she made her way out of the dining hall in her quest to find Rompra.

It wasn’t hard to find her, of course, and she ended up being in the first place Tlech searched for her; her own den. Unfortunately she was asleep… though the chubby goblin didn’t think much of it at the moment. At least she was a little better about these things than Irving, and she just knelt beside the woman and gently pushed on her shoulder a few times, waking her in a haze. The sleepy woman assumed that she had come with Ab to take some of their payment in that regard, which wasn’t an unreasonable assumption and likely would have happened if not for the mood Tlech was in, but that wasn’t the case. "Got a shif’ comin’ up, an’ I’m pretty sure yer free. Wanna get ye ta ‘elp me wit’ it" she said flatly, "jus’ a cleanin’ one."

Leaving the dining area with murmurs of acceptance for her apology at her back, Tlech was able to locate Rompra in her chamber. The other goblin took a few seconds to process Tlech's request before numbly nodding, "S'long as I can get a bit more shut eye, sure." She then promptly rolled over in an effort to go back to sleep, and given that Tlech's shift wasn't for another few hours she was free to do as she liked with the rest of her time before going back to work.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech felt perhaps a little bit of regret as Rompra acquiesced to her sort-of demand, realizing that she had come juuuust a bit earlier than was necessary. Only a little bit of regret, though. "Awrite, I’ll be back whennits time" she said, turning and walking out of Rompra’s den, heading to her own. There she would find Irving, whom she would greet with a grunt before flopping down onto her bed face-first again, gently pulling her dress up to keep it from rubbing against her sore rump. She would briefly bitch about what had happened to her for being late, generally sulking and being grumpy unless her roommate found some way to improve her mood. She would stay in her den for perhaps an hour or so to lay there and mope before pulling herself up and leaving to wander the warren and find something to do, though she didn’t have a plan set in stone, and everything was up in the air.

Rompra gave a wordless grunt, leaving Tlech to vacate her small corner of the goblin warren on her own. Returning to her own den, Tlech would find Irving lounging around, obviously trying to sleep but not managing to find it given that she was naked save for some raggedy blankets. "Hey," she said, only to frown as Tlech started griping. The skinny goblin sat up to listen, keeping her decency while Tlech sacrificed a bit of hers in order to alleviate some of the pain from her bottom due to the lashings she'd taken. "Had a run in with an overseer eh?" she finally said once Tlech finished her griping, sounding a bit flat.

"Well, coulda been worse. One of the soldiers had his way with Dorpina earlier while she was cleanin their quarters," continued somewhat coldly, sounding frustrated and angry in general. "She's aright though. How bad is it? Need me to rub the sting out?" she continued, her voice going a little dry at that point.

Whether or not Tlech submitted to being groped, just as she was getting red to get up and go she felt a sudden tug on her spirit, a call that by that point was growing more and more familiar. This time it was, perhaps to her surprise, fairly familiar, and after a moment or two she would recognize Bobby's spirit calling to hers. The young man, who had before been fairly distressed the first time he had summoned her, now sent absolute terror unlike any that the goblin, having grown up in a far more harsh environment and thus far more jaded, would have felt rarely if ever in comparison. He seemed to be in some sort of trouble and was calling her specifically for help, but whether or not she wanted to accept that call was, ultimately, up to Tlech.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech said her piece, venting for a bit with Irving… only to find out that she wasn’t the only one with reason to complain. "Fuckin’ full-bloods" she grumbled, turning to look at her roommate. "Prob’ly sum li’l shit wot tha res’ of ‘em fuck wit’, ain’t got no one ter take it out on but a goblin. I’d like ta…" She kind of just trailed off, as it didn’t usually pay to speak those sorts of things aloud even if there weren’t any demons in the immediate vicinity. "Ehhh… It ain’t ‘at bad I guess. Jus’ don’t feel good ‘ginst ‘is dress. Sore as shit" she said, not really giving an answer at all, at least not to the last bit. She felt like Irving was being at least a little bit facetious anyway.

Whether the skinny goblin took that as license to do as she wished (which Tlech wouldn’t exactly object to) or not, just as she was ready to get up and wander the halls she felt a pull on her spirit, a call to summons. It didn’t take long to realize that it was Bobby who was trying to summon her, the feeling of his spirit familiar to her, but something was a bit different. He was… absolutely fucking terrified. It was an unfamiliar feeling to the chubby goblin, one that made her cringe a bit. She could only assume that he was moments away from being killed as he called for her, because that was the only thing she could associate with such a strong feeling of distress. Perhaps, of course, her perspective was just skewed by living in a place where danger of some sort or another was nearly constant. "Ehh… Gettin’ summoned. I’ll be back" she said, accepting the call and bracing herself to get into combat immediately. She didn’t have a whole lot of time, and she absolutely couldn’t be late to her next shift, not with fresh whip marks on her backside already…

Irving would simply shrug in response to Tlech's verbal grumbling and suppositions about the nature of the demon who had raped Rompra, not really seeming to care much for the subject. It was a simple reality of their lives that such things happened, and most of them could do little more than put up with it. Despite her offer, the other gobliness wouldn't go over to rub the sting out of Tlech's bottom, letting her put up with it on her own. When Tlech announced that she was being summoned, Irving only nodded.

As she answered the call, Tlech felt the familiar sensation of being whisked away only to materialize in the dark. It was night on the mortal world, leaving the area shrouded in blackness that Tlech usually only saw in the warrens, as Hell's surface was perpetually shrouded in feeble multicolored light from the aurora surrounding it. She was standing on a road made of cobbled together stone, the like of which she had only seen when the boy had last summoned her. Bobby himself was hiding right beside where Tlech had appeared, hidden behind a bin and quivering with terror.

They were in an alleyway, seemingly in the same town where Tlech had been summoned before, and people could be heard shouting from the areas around them. There were streets on either end of the alley, a closed wooden door down a flight of stairs a short way to one side of the alley, and a metal staircase going up a short ways behind them. Bobby looked up in surprise at Tlech at first, but then gave the busty goblin an imploring look. He seemed tired, his eyes having dark circles under them, and his clothes looked much dirtier. "Help me!" he whispered desperately only for a man's shout from nearby to cause him to cringe harder against the wall he was crouched beside.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech couldn’t tell if Irving was annoyed with her, or just annoyed in general. Probably the latter, but it was hard to tell for sure. When she entered into the mortal world she was tense and ready, expecting a fight… and found nothing of the sort. It was dark, and outside no less; apparently that ball of fire in the sky had gone down already. A quick look around showed her that Bobby was hiding behind something, some kind of trash receptacle or something, absolutely shaking in his fear. There was no one even around, what was wrong with him? They were in one of those small passages with the cobbled stone roads, probably good for hiding if that was what you wanted to do. The boy looked like he’d been hiding for a long time, too, like someone who hadn’t slept in quite some time. She walked over to him, not even really needing to crouch to hide behind the bin with him when he whispered to her. Apparently he was being looked for though, and whoever it was seemed to be pretty close. "Wot’ya want from me?" she whispered at him as she got close, giving him a quizzical look. This is not what she signed up for, after all. Unless he wanted her to rush into town and start punching. Actually that might not be a bad idea… A distraction? Goblin in town blasting buildings with demon magic, allowing him to get away while the townsfolk dealt with her? That was what she would likely suggest if he gave her a chance, though he surely had other ideas.

"Help me!" Bobby repeated in frustration, "they're... They're looking for me! They told... They told on what I did, and now they're looking for me! They're going to burn me! Burn me like a witch!" Tlech had absolutely no context to work with on that particular aspect of human mythology, but from the boy's tone and the terrified shudders he gave it was obvious that it wouldn't be anything even remotely pleasant that he was going to be subjected to if caught. "I need... I need you to help me! I need to get out of here!" he continued, but as for how to actually accomplish that... Bobby had no idea. Tlech had far more experience than the young man, it seemed, and that left her to try and figure out what she could do to help him escape. It didn't sound like she'd have much time to think about it, however, especially if she kept standing out in the open. Bobby would also apparently need to be prodded into action, however, as he would hold still in his poor hiding place until she actually gave him cause to move or someone else did.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech stared at Bobby blankly as he whispered to her in horror. What the fuck was a witch? Why was he in danger of being burned? She didn’t get this at all. Still, he seemed fearful enough that she was certain he expected to be tortured quite painfully before being killed. "Ehhh… I can go make a distraction fer ye. But ye’ll be fuckin’ ‘elpless if’n ye run ‘cross anyone, won’t ye? Meh, follow me" she said after a few seconds of thought, turning towards the stairs as she began to buff herself, her muscles tightening and bulging ever so slightly beneath her pudge. At the top of the stairs was a door she intended to lead Bobby through, likely into someone’s home, so that they could observe what was going on outside and pick an angle to run out of the town. She was still looking to play the distraction game, but it would be better if she could get the human as straight a shot as possible, with as few obstacles on his way out as could be.

Tlech’s blank look only seemed to frustrate Bobby, but when she told him to follow her he simply nodded and did so. Creeping up the steps after her while the pudgy goblin’s muscles tightened as a result of her power taking hold, she would find the door locked. A nearby window might also provide an entrance, but it would require either a jump or a bit of climbing to get to, and it too might be secured. Alternatively, she could try to smash down the wooden portal, though it wasn’t like any she had ever seen in Hell before. Bobby stood behind her nervously, glancing about while the shouts seemed to constantly grow closer and closer.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech came up to the door only to find it far different from any such thing she’d ever seen. It looked… kind of like those brown things that stuck up from the ground around that standing water when she had come here earlier. Trees, Bobby had called them, if she remembered right. A tree door. Interesting. She turned the knob and found that it wouldn’t quite turn all the way, locked unfortunately. The shouting was getting closer, so she looked around quickly… there was a window not far to the side, she could probably try to open that with some help, though there was risk involved of course. Instead she decided to try and force the door open, putting all of her strength into it, and if it didn’t work the first time putting her whole body into the effort. The door didn’t seem as sturdy even as the doors in her fortress, so it shouldn’t be too difficult, right?

Tlech: HP = 65/67, PP = 42, EP = 76/89, Status = Fine, Pregnant, Summoned, Fell Might X = 5, Upkeep = 1 HP 0 EP

Rolls
Door smashing! Body + 3X minus unlucky, DC 40.
Check: 20 + 32 = 52, success.

Perception: ???

One good slam from Tlech's shoulder would cause the wood around the lock to splinter, breaking the doorknob and lock off from the rest of the door and causing it to crash inwards. She would enter into a dark room with brick walls, the strange red rectangular stones unusual but not nearly as much as wood, and a wooden floor. There were strange squares set up on stands all around her, all made of some strange stretched fabric and some covered in oily looking colors that seemed to form pictures. Boxes full of stuff also littered the room, but none of them were in the way if Tlech simply wanted to get to the other side. There was a doorway on the opposite side of the room leading into a hallway with a window and an iron railing next to a set of stairs leading down that started next to the window and went down in the opposite direction from the way that they were facing.

If she stepped out into that hallway, she would see another doorway on either side of the room, one with a closed door in it and the other with a door half cracked open, showing another dimly lit room. Bobby followed up behind her, and with the shouts muffled by the walls she would be unable to tell by sound how far away the boy's pursuers were.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech found that the door was pretty fragile, at least while she was using her magic to buff herself. Perhaps this was a problem with tree doors in general? In any case she very nearly brought the whole thing down, though instead she simply smashed the knob and lock mechanism inwards, separating it from the rest of the door. She pushed the remainder of it open, cautiously entering and then motioning to Bobby silently to follow along behind her. Apparently humans made quite a lot of things out of tree, because it was more or less everywhere inside of this room. There were even some weird things that looked decorative on these strange red-stone walls. This didn’t seem like one of the better off human dwellings, and yet… whoever lived there seemed quite fabulously wealthy to the goblin.

There was even an element of clutter and nonsense all throughout the room, another sign of comparative wealth. Just from the brief glimpse that Tlech got of all of it didn’t seem to be junk, and to have so many belongings that weren’t just random hoarded detritus was rare in her mind. Even so, she didn’t have much reason to check these things, and she made her way towards the front of the room with only cautious glances back and forth, not wanting to be surprised by whoever called this place home. The door on the other side of the room wasn’t locked, at least not from this side, and it opened into some sort of hallway, a window with a view of the outside next to a stairwell down. To either side of the hallway were more rooms, and though the pudgy goblin couldn’t know for sure she felt that these were likely dens much like the one she had just walked through. Or was this whole thing one large den, just with different rooms for different people? She couldn’t tell and it hardly mattered. She quietly whispered to Bobby "look outta winnow fer me, see if’n it’s clear outside. ‘opefully they’re behind us, an’ we can sneak out this way." In the meantime she would watch the door that was cracked open, again intent on not having someone come up behind her. If all went according to plan the two of them would soon be on the run out of town down whatever street this was; probably not the best of ideas, but probably the best one that Tlech had come up with so far.

Bobby, thought shaking with fear, would nod and creep up towards the window, peeking his head over to peer out of it in search of his pursuers while Tlech looked out behind them. "They're.... They're out there!" he whispered quietly, but as he peered out over the street and she watched the way behind them, both of them somehow failed to notice one thing. Up the stairs a girl silently crept, barely older than twelve, though Tlech wouldn't know that having grown up where she did, where age before adulthood was often measured in days rather than years and the very concept of a year was alien. She came up on her left along the wall, leaving her out of the corner of Tlech's vision, and as she watched the stairs the tiny blond girl didn't notice the goblin or her young summoner until her head peeked up over the edge of the floor and she stopped dead.

Tlech would notice her presence from the sound of hastily sucked in air, and there was nothing that the goblin could do before the young girl let out an ear splitting scream. Bobby started and stumbled, spinning against the wall and staring at her wide eyed, his terror even greater than hers, and with her scream the shouts were suddenly a lot louder and a lot more numerous. And they were getting closer.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Tlech had figured the pursuers were out in the street, but it was still kind of annoying to learn so. They could wait, though, at least a little while. Maybe the humans would lose patience, would think that they had gotten away and go to a different quarter of the town to search, and the two could make good their escape. Unfortunately for them they were both looking the wrong way to avoid being found… how she snuck up on them the chubby goblin didn’t know, but she was quickly alerted to the presence of the smallest human she had ever seen, though still taller than her by some way. It was a woman though, so maybe they were just naturally shorter than the males? The girl took a loud breath, startling Tlech, but she couldn’t react before the girl SCREAMED at the top of her lungs.

The goblin cursed as she lunged forward, grabbing the girl by the throat hard enough to close up her airway, cutting off that scream, though the damage had been done. The voices from outside were getting louder, perhaps closer, and there were certainly more of them. Tlech cursed sharply under her breath, scowling at the girl most viciously, and motioned Bobby back the way they came as she dragged the girl by the throat. They couldn’t stay here, they would have to find another way. "If’n ye scream again" she quietly growled at the girl, "I’ll snap yer fuckin’ neck. Bobby, ye better know ‘ow ta git ‘round ‘ere, or I tink we’re cornered." Her new plan was to make it back to that back alley and make a dash down the street farther from where the majority of the voices were coming from unless there were either more people that way (in which case she would try the door on the other side of the alley), or Bobby had some better idea. Or perhaps the girl would try to speak up in an effort to ingratiate herself? It just might work to some extent, though either way the little girl would serve as a hostage. How useful she would be in that role was an open question, of course…

The girl flailed as Tlech choked slammed her against the wall, supernatural strength fueling her already superior might and allowing her to easily shut the young human up, albeit far too late to keep their position from being potentially discovered by her loud outcry. The already pale human went ashen as Tlech threatened to kill her if she made another sound, tiny hands feebly grasping at the goblin's wrist while Bobby watched it all in terror and confusion. "Uhhh.... I don't..... But... They're... Out there," Bobby stuttered, and while Tlech was trying to drag the girl by her throat, an extremely difficult task considering how much she was struggling and how tentative Tlech's hold was with only a hand on her neck, there came a shout from behind the house; "Over here! It looks like someone smashed open this door!"

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

The little human was weak, far too weak to pose a challenge for Tlech, though she had already done her fair share of damage. "’ey’re prob’ly ever’where" she grumbled, trying her best to drag the little girl, getting pretty well nowhere, right up until she heard another yell from behind them this time, someone having found the door that she had busted. That left them surrounded, likely with few options that wouldn’t get them killed. "Remember, if’n ye scream I kill ya" the goblin hissed at her captive, then letting go of her throat just a bit, enough that she could breathe and talk again. "Either a ye know if’n there’s exits out ye back o’ them other rooms? Diff’rent passages?" she asked then, grasping at straws for one last chance of a getaway without having to fight immediately. Of course it didn’t work, Bobby lacking the knowledge and the girl simply refusing to talk. Another curse, and Tlech threw the girl over her shoulder, muttering "come wit’ me, Bobby, an’ stick close. We’re prob’ly gonna ‘aveta fite if’n we’re gonna git outta ‘ere" as she rushed into the room with the open door, hoping that there was some sort of exit to a less crowded street. If not, fighting her way out of the building wouldn’t be much harder than fighting her way down the main street, right? They were probably screwed if either of those things had to happen in any case.

"I don't know!" Bobby hissed, and the girl simply refused to answer, trying to pull away and run for it but stopped by a hand on her arm. Throwing the girl over her should, she struggled in a fairly feeble manner, and Bobby followed after Tlech hesitantly as the girl started screaming again. Rushing into the room with an open door, Tlech would find it to be little more than another big room like the one with the door they'd come in through, a small counter running along one wall and a bunch of various things that she didn't have time to examine, though one piece lying on the floor looked like a bed of some sort that wasn't entirely dissimilar from the sort of resting place one might find in the warrens.

There was a window on the same building facing as the one they'd been looking through earlier, and another one on the wall opposite the door that looked out over a narrow alley that ended in a stone wall on the right and went out into the street on the right. It was empty right now, as was the street that it opened out onto, and the window facing the direction they'd seen before let out over a roof with a ten or so foot drop, giving them options by which to try and escape. Bobby was seemingly useless for this, and the wailing of the girl over her shoulder, who was now feebly beating her hands against Tlech's back, was giving away their position quite nicely. Movement could be heard in the room they'd entered through, someone having already ascended the stairs and more voices quickly coming up behind, suggesting that Tlech didn't have long to decide.

Re: Day Job (Tiffanian)

Of course the girl started screaming again as soon as Tlech started off into the open room… "Shuddup ya stupid fuckin’ bitch" the goblin shouted sharply, her anger quite apparent in the tone of her voice, "ye mus’ really wanna beatin’!" She intended to give that beating to her as soon as there was time to, enough to get her quiet one way or the other at least. This new room was similar, but different as well. The details were irrelevant to her in this moment, exits and potential threats the only thing she really scanned the area for.

There didn’t seem to be anyone or anything living in the room with them, so that crossed off one major category. As for exits, the place left something to be desired… There were no doors to be found besides the one they had come in through, only a pair of windows. One of them opened up onto a roof that overlooked the scene they had already had a look at through the window in the common area, seemingly a relatively low drop below. The other looked out over another alley and a street that was currently clear of people, though it was a longer way to the ground, maybe a bit too far for the two of them. Well, the two of them and the squealing brat on Tlech’s shoulder. She could hear people entering the room they had first come into even over that wretched sound, so she knew that backwards wasn’t an option anymore, at least not a good one… Now it was just a question of risk against reward, and the goblin almost immediately chose the option with lower initial risk; it would be impossible to make an escape if one or both of them hurt a leg or a foot dropping down onto the hard alleyway below them. "Bobby, open ‘at winnow!" she shouted at him, pointing to the one that opened onto the roof even as she moved towards it to try and open it herself, perfectly willing to smash or blast it open with magic instead if she needed to. The poor boy seemed just about shocked into uselessness…

"She's being really loud," Bobby said uncertainty beneath the flailing girl's continued outcries, as she hadn't gone quiet even after Tlech's latest threat. The young human was quick to obey her order despite his trepidation, however, and quickly opened the latch of the window and pushed it open. It wasn't locked, and though Bobby looked hesitant at first once Tlech jumped out and landed safely even on the slanted roof, the tiles of the roof cracking underfoot, he quickly followed. He didn't land as gracefully as she did, however, dropping to a knee and letting out a hiss of pain, but he was quickly back on his feet beside her.

With the open air now around them, Tlech had a number of options of where she wanted to try and go. She could see the edge of town, but the building they were on ended down onto a street and there were three more rows of houses before the town opened out into open areas and then out into the forest. They'd have to drop down to the street some twenty feet below or somehow leap the gap, which was over twenty feet across. Alternatively, there was a narrow bridge to another building with a steep roof on her right, and she might find another route to go from there and would at least get a good look around.
