Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm trying to reach out to as many people as I possibly can; all coming from different backgrounds. I already feel humiliated, and I yet have to go through a few places where people recognize me by face or name and have no idea I'm involved in smut games, but I'll easily exchange one more minute of being homeless for sole shame for even years to come. A few people already came forward, so I might actually have a slight chance for getting out of this.

Yo, please support this guy; not only does he deserve it, but he's now working on a KILLER game with me, and if he goes down financially, the game goes down as well.

I'll have a topic up about the game within 24 hours or so, but think cheshire's awesome programming, plus this guy's art (he's our main artist), plus my writing, and over 50 sex animations and voice acting, all set in a sci-fi landscape with megaman-ish gameplay.

:D

Who gives a shit? You're an adult. If people ask what you mean by "smut", look them straight in their dumb faces and tell them "oh sometimes it's like, snake women that consume and then unbirth the player, or maybe a succubus -- that's a sex demon, btw -- that drinks cum until her stomach inflates, or like a bee girl that injects the player with eggs or whatever." What are they gonna do? Tell you it's icky? Be like, "oh, uh, ok. Anyway, yeah, I've done some smut games with stuff like that." Suddenly, he's the one that's embarrassed for asking a dumb fucking question.

People can only make you feel embarrassed if you let them.

Yes, he is. And in the world of adults, reputation means *a lot* depending on what your career is.
If you're in an industry that deals with entertainment, or public face type stuff, the littlest thing can completely destroy your SFW job, leaving you broke, or worse, homeless.

Porn and especially Hentai are pretty much reviled in mainstream society (at least in America and quite a few other countries) and despite the leaps we've taken as a species to realize it's harmless fun, if you're in any public job (again, entertainment, media, anything where you deal with the public in any way, shape or form) and they find out you're involved with porn, you're basically screwed.

They *will* fire you, they'll say it's not for the porn, but most jobs are set with the rule that they can fire you for "any given reason".
And hentai? Ten times worse, because of how it's been dramatized, similar to BDSM. When you mention hentai, people immediately think MUCH harsher things about you. If you like porn, or make porn, hey, it's sex, we gotta make babies, it feels good, we're still gonna fire you, but you know, you're not a terrible person.

But hentai is so misunderstood that people immediately jump to the worst possible case scenario about it or anything involved with it, and get freaked out of it ten times worse.

So with Cheshire here, who is currently unemployed, do you really think he wants to do anything that could harm his chances to get future employment, which is something you nonstop have to think about as "an adult"?
That's why he's feeling terrible about it.

I meant the whole story. The 'I have to develop an H-game while I am homeless until the end of the year or I am homeless forever'. Throw in the friend with the terminally ill mother and you got a story that's not very believable.

Reminds me of that one girl (well he wasn't a girl but more on that later) who made up a story about that she had a car accident and some kind of metal shrapnel was stuck in her body and that she is going to die of metal poisoning if she can't raise enough money to pay the operation to get this thing out. The insurance wasn't going to pay because obscure reasons. Made a page on indiegogo about it but it got taken down, turns out the girl was a depressed transgender dude and trying to get money so he can pay the man to woman operation.

Ofc nobody wanted to question the story because nobody to be the one to stand out. Much like The Emperor's new clothes just on an emotional level.

I might be wrong, though. But if someone tells you a story, the least you can ask for is some kind of proof. Would neither be the first nor the last scam. And the thing with the artist is strange, too. If you read his blog he says he doesn't like to work with anyone if he isn't paid up front because he got scammed himself. That and he says he would be expensive to hire, but how is a homeless guy going to pay an artist? Idk, just sounds fishy to me.

have some quotes from the artist's blog:

I did a commission for a really great person i met on hentai foundry. and that is probably my first and last commission on this area of expertise. the reason is because the amount i get paid for and the time i spend on it just doesn't click. its way too low, I would prefer to charge hourly, but then it would be way to much to a few of you, unless you have a budget

I am afraid to team up with someone else because it'll be hard for me to fully trust someone on the internet, for i have been screwed over once. If i were to do it again, i would have to really build my trust on that person

I, and presumably many other people, approach this subject like I would a homeless person who came up to me and asked me for a few bucks so he could get some food. There are two options here:
1) You turn him down, and he moves on to go ask other people.
2) You give him a dollar or two - such a miniscule number that it would hardly impact a person with a steady job - and you risk the possibility that he was lying. Assuming he wasn't, though, you just made that man's day and filled his belly.

Personally, risking the loss of a few dollars is worth the possibility of brightening the day of someone who's down on their luck. If you don't want to, that's fine, I'm not gonna judge you for it - but I think that's why a lot of people are banding together to help this guy out.

The thing is that you don't really need proof when a beggar is asking for money, it's right in front of your eyes. You wouldn't give someone money that's walking around in expensive clothes, right? But this whole story, I don't buy it. It's so exaggerated and crazy. I have no problem believing he is homeless, but I do find it hard to imagine that the only way out of that situation is to develop a game. I mean, come on. Beggars ask for money so they can buy themselves something to eat or to drink, not to develop a game.

That's not true. People dress up like they're homeless all the time, and some homeless guys aren't even going to use your money for food, they're going to go get drunk or high with it. I don't think it's quite as black and white as you're making it out to be. Considering how much trouble I've had in the job market, despite having a home, a shower, and clean clothing, I don't doubt that finding a job as a homeless person would be tremendously difficult. However, he HAS made an H-game in the past; it's something he knows he can do, from experience. If I was in his situation, I'd certainly want to turn to a source of income that I had more control of than "please give me money" or "please give me a job."

I'm not saying his story is true, or that his story is false. Just that I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as are many others here.

Yes it is. Beggars tend to have a certain behavior and appearance, if someone falls into that category, it's proof enough for you to consider that this person might actually be homeless. But someone walking around in expensive clothes does not seem very convincing when he claims that he needs money because he is poor. Of course some people imitate beggars simply to grab money, but someone looking like a beggar and behaving like one is proof enough to give him a few bucks, as you said.

And yeah, from the looks of it, his game wasn't such a big success. And now that he's homeless and poor, he has the means to hire an expensive artist and voice actors? It sounds like he is planning the H-game to end all H-games. I'd say if you can pay that artist for 50+ sex animations and everything else you are not short on money. Like I said, I don't buy it - which could make me a colossal douchebag if his story is actually true, I'm well aware of that.

You're assuming chesireCat is heading the development, though, and I simply don't think that's true. HentaiWriter is collaborating with him on the project, and it's entirely possible that as a group they have decided on a way to split profits from sales rather than paying everyone upfront, or that HentaiWriter is the one supplying the artist with the funds necessary to hire him for work. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it would certainly make sense.

I also think you're severely underestimating how often people dress up and pretend to be homeless. It would be exceptionally easy to do - it's called acting and makeup, people aren't going to question you if you look poor and dirty. I don't think anyone who hasn't been homeless has any room to judge that it's easy to tell whether or not someone is lying about being homeless at first glance, just because they do or don't share "a certain behavior and appearance".

I don't see much sense in relying on someone who is homeless when you're going to make a game together, communicating would be extremely difficult. If he only has a few days a month access to the internet, well, that would slow down the development to a crawl. Anyway, we don't know.

It's easy to do so because it's easy to provide enough proof* that they're homeless. If it's a real proof or a fabricated one you can't really tell, that's why they are capable of scamming you. If you give someone money who is merely playing the part of being a beggar, he managed to convince you that he is actually one. That's the basic principle of scamming, if you can't give enough evidence of what you are pretending to be, no one is going to believe you. Walking around in a fancy suit proves that you aren't poor. So if you're asking for money, no one will give you any.

* With 'proof' I mean what's happening in your head, not what is actually the truth. When you get scammed, the scammer gave you enough evidence to prove that he is telling the truth when he obviously wasn't.

Re: Pendulum (AWESOME DISCOUNT! ALSO, PLEASE READ FIRST POST EDIT)

have some quotes from the artist's blog:
You miiiight want to check the dates on those. He posted that he didn't want to work with people after being screwed over by them... 8 months ago.

8 months ago, I had zero desire or want to do ANYTHING in the hentai industry.

8 months later, I've got a contact list on skype that's more hentai industry people than non-hentai people, I'm working on four games at once, and a hentai comic on top of it.

People change.

Also, Cheshire's story is far from unbelievable. He had a mental breakdown and lost the will to continue on, this is one of the most common and realistic stories there is; I would have had something similar happen to me had I not had close family/friends that backed me up during similar situations.

We're not saying he's going to be homeless "forever", we're saying that he won't have money to continue having access to a computer, and as his main skillset *relies* on a computer, yes, it would be rather hard to find employment and come out of being homeless.

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but being homeless is extremely difficult to get out of;

-Want a job? You need an address to send paychecks to/get registered to the job.
-Want to keep yourself clean for job interviews? With what money/supplies?
-You want to appear trustworthy at a job? After being homeless?

It's EXTREMELY difficult to come back from that.

Yes it is. Beggars tend to have a certain behavior and appearance, if someone falls into that category, it's proof enough for you to consider that this person might actually be homeless.
I dress in jeans that are 10 years old and a jacket that's older than that. I live frugally.
If I were going for a job, you better believe I'd dress the part, but out around town? I'm not really going to care how I look.

And yeah, from the looks of it, his game wasn't such a big success.
I guess all game companies with initial lack of success should just pack it up and go home, right? Like that one company... what was its name, I think Eidos? The company that put out over 10 horribly received games before doing Tomb Raider and knocking it out of the park? Yeah, that one.

And now that he's homeless and poor, he has the means to hire an expensive artist and voice actors? It sounds like he is planning the H-game to end all H-games.
None of us working on the game are getting paid here until the Patreon for the game gets made, myself included. We're going to start up the Patreon ASAP, get a demo out within a month, and go from there. The artist, myself, and Cheshire are all doing rather poorly financially, so we're realizing it's obviously not feasible to pay one another out of our own pockets, and rather to get funds through Patreon.

And the voice actresses, I've already made contact with and have worked with before.
This is called networking; you get people in your network and you make business relations with them, and then they agree to do work for free for you because they know you're a solid businessman/woman and will get them $$$ in the long run.

And if you want proof the artist and I have been doing work;

This is from about one week of discussions/planning/making a design sheet on the game that's about 10 pages long, and Triangulate working on it and so forth. He can get done one of these animations, start to finish, in about a day.

So 50 sex animations (2 per enemy) + 2 or 3 other animations per enemy = 3 or 4 months worth of work, completely feasible.

So please, don't smear other people's reputations with assumptions out of nowhere when they're pretty much baseless (having no idea what another person's life situation is actually like) or just presented incorrectly (quoting someone's opinions from over half a year ago).

That isn't my intent with this though, this is just to prove that everything is on the up and up, we really *are* working on a game etc.
