Horses for courses. Depending on the enemy, it's probably better to give Luna equipment which defends against enemy special attacks rather than wasting the slots on magic boosting equipment.

With my current stats, Luna's physical attack is 80 points more than her magic attack so it's not really worth it to rely on thunderbolt when the rapid pike is cheaper and does reliable damage. Once the Chase Lancer ability is learnt, players might not even need to use Rapid Pike since the multiple strikes from a regular attack can potentially do more damage when critical hits are factored in.
Fair enough, I've only made it to the Underground Slave Trade, what level do I get Chase Lancer? I'm sorta confused by the last sentence there.

I thought you'd finished the game as well as the EX dungeon by now. Since you obviously haven't, I won't elaborate further.

I don't remember, but the installer for CE might have bloatware options in it, just untick them in the installer and you'll be fine.

I really like this kind of game, the gameplay the artwork and all, but I really feel its "lacking" without actual animations

Any reason why those 500 damage bombs stop working? I tried to use them on a boss but nothing happened twice in a row, then I tried it out on a random monster but nothing happened again. I'm not in the EX Dungeon either

Excellent work, mate. It was enlightening that you used alt+7 for spaces even though it's still a single-byte character - up until now I've been using the normal single and double width spaces while carefully using odd-numbered words before spaces on non-english-mode lines. While I still have to make sure strings end in an even number, the "invisible" symbol is genius.

I'll fuse our translations and credits in my release.

(And by the way - in contrast to the zipped readme.txt, there's actually no need for renaming or decompiling any files. Unlike how RPG Maker works, nscript (at least for this game) will prioritize reading the 0.txt and folder contents first over the compressed/archived .dat files. There should be only one step: extract .zip into game folder.) :D

On the side note, about the map label fonts: The poll is so far are surprisingly very half-and-half (51% vs 49%).

Seeing how close the poll results are, I'll be using Bookman as default for the translation, but I'll provide an extra/optional download for Hobo STD labels (and maybe other fonts if I have time to fool around with PS).

Poll's still up for votes, but unless the ratio skews beyond 70/30, I'll be doing both. Comment if you want to see a specific font; I'll consider it (so far Alfred Drake is under consideration as another extra alongside Hobo STD; pictures are on the blog's comments as well).

There might be a bug, I used Luna's Cookie in a fight, the only thing the message said was "26," last time I used it in the middle of a fight, which was awhile ago, it just instantly KO'd me. Then again, said time was in recollection the gallery mode.

It also might be why those powerful bombs aren't working for me, the message goes by too fast for me to get a rough translation of what happens.

Your are right, there is something wrong with the candies. I have a look into it.

Aye; when the game calls a string, it'll get confused if the string has a non-even number of single-byte characters (two-byte character stand for two single-byte characters). The game engine's funky like that. <:p

I tested the cookie; the culprit lies in the item's name and how the author scripted a lot of the battle code on asking "if var="thisstringofwords" do_this,and_this". So if item used == "weirdly named cookie", the game doesn't know what to do and crashes. I personally, as even a novice scripter, always assign stuff to number variables so that I can freely change names as I see fit without having to change more code.

The descriptions of the items are fine though, thank god. I'm pretty sure there are no dependencies on item/skill descriptions.

So yeah, that's what I'm guessing is tripping the game. Some of the bugs can probably be fixed by changing what the game asks for during battle processing. Lemme know if you need help with that, T4ke. Until then, I'll still be trudging along with dialogue.

Worst case scenario we can just revert back to the original names of certain sensitive items but keep your item translations - since mousing over the item will still tell players what they do (and probably what they are; you can still effectively just put the translated name into the description, like "Luna's Cookie. You shouldn't eat this...", as long as the string doesn't get too long (I've bumped into crashes merely by allowing some strings to go beyond 50 single-byte characters (though sometimes 50+ is somehow okay), so watch out for that).

found the problem:

you need to change your translation's line 18664 "if $23="" to whatever first 6 bytes you put into your line 64674's item name.

So, it should look like this:

^^ note that I underlined "6" in the first picture - it needs to match the number of bytes in $23="", as this is the number of bytes it'll be looking for. (So if you change that to a different number, like 4, you need to have $23="Luna", or any other 4-byte string, e.g. "ルナ", "blah", "lool", etc.). I had to use pictures because the alt+7 symbol (displayed as "BEL") wouldn't show up here in my post even if I used the [ code ] tag.

This should also fix all of Luna's other homemade food items, not that they'll taste any better.

As for the bombs, being the noob I am, I've not gotten the chance to use them to test them, but I'm guessing they're broken for the same reason:

Well, I beat the main story, quite an enjoyable experience, I can't wait to play it without a machine translator. That was an... interesting final dungeon. None of the fights were particularly frustrating, except maybe ones that aren't mandatory like in the Arena, I felt like it had much less elements of randomness than Lilipalace did, where you had to count on RNG to give you those counters when fighting a group, which is generally a good thing. Though speaking of chance, the last skill I got for Luna before I beat the game, Double Assault, was fairly underwhelming, what's the catch if it has any use at all?

My only complaint is that I'm not allowed to change into my hooker and slave outfits (especially the slave outfit), but then there would be so much tunnel73 would have to implement as far as CGs go that it probably isn't worth it.

Do I need to beat the EX Dungeon to start a New Game+?

Also I don't recall seeing a screenshot like this, but I was snooping around the sewer with the floating bracelet and I think I found tunnel73 through some waterways that went outside the minimap (Luna seems to call him out on it too in a 4th wall breaking fashion)
I also found this bird that had 9999 HP on the floor below tunnel73. He did a crap ton of damage to me, didn't seem to give anything good according to the analyzer IIRC. It seemed to have disappeared as well, I wonder if it comes back...

Double Assault?! If you mean the 9th skill on Luna's skill list, you can try casting it multiple times to allow the regular attack to hit more than once. Very useful against enemies who counter-attack against special skills. Isn't that supposed to be "Chase Lancer"?

I didn't explore all of the waterways in the sewer, so I didn't meet the mole. Nice to see that not all of the waterways were dead-ends.

The hidden boss has a 30% chance of dropping the mana-boosting item, so some players were trying to farm it to boost the max mana pool for the characters. Since the EX dungeon 5th floor boss is so much better for farming the mana item, the boss is just there to get experience and as a bonus challenge. The bird respawns each time players exit and re-enter the dungeon.

No, players do not need to finish the EX dungeon to start new game plus. I only played the EX dungeon after finishing both routes.

It'll probably be more effective once I have higher MP.

Anyways, how do NG+ then? I tried to load my clear save file (I made a separate save of the post game) and the clear save just takes me to the same place as the post save.

Ah, I think you're referring to 八重連撃. I don't know what the machine translators say, but basically it's an offensive special skill that grows more powerful the more times Luna uses it consecutively. From the 5th attack onwards, there are special effects like trip, heal and lower opponent's attack power. The final 8th attack does a ton of damage if the hits land.

Didn't the game give a message at the end of the main story on what to do? Players are free to do what they like in the town, to start a new game plus with all levels, gold and equipment intact visit the fortune teller and select the third option.

Luna says "taichou" right? I've always associated that with Captain. I think it sounds better anyways.

@Harley I got confused when reading the rough walkthrough on page 12 and thought I had to choose to either NG+ or do post game right then, I may have forgotten about visiting the fortune teller altogether since she was largely irrelevant in the story.

Edit: Oh yeah, I would look into the Yakuto as well, I noticed it didn't actually do anything at a certain point either, it's likely related to the translation effort.

I know i need to hit myself with lightining but how do i click to hit myself? by default the atk is on the enemy.

Scroll with the mouse-wheel. If you don't have a wheel, click on the words indicating which is the active target and then select Luna from the list which pops up.

If you can't read Japanese, play with a translator. Even the rubbish programs should have something to help with the interface of this game.

Fortune teller is basically the game's mechanic for helping players lost on what to do next. Many times I visited the fortune teller, got the hint I needed and then reloaded to before the visit.

If you're referring to the item ヤーくート, note its special restriction in the item description.
