NOTE: At lv28 with 5 strengthening actions performed on them, units who possess special movement skills will gift you items that offer them so you don't have to bring the unit along any more. (ex. lv28 Anna w/ 5 strengthenings gives you "Mermaid's Love", which allows water travel)
= Lynn, the Minotaur =
- She joins by default in the beginning.
- Not much to say here. She's a single-target damage-dealer and your main stagger/tumble/stun ally. Later, her weapon gives her a racial damage boost, letting her rip Plant-type enemies to shreds. She also resists death later, being able to survive with 1HP sometimes.
= Mary, the Sheep =
- When your sheep goes missing, check the question mark and proceed to Galtea Highway to chase it down. Make her using the material left behind.
- Your first tank. Go ahead and level her up a bit until she gets the group defense buff. Her later weapons give her resistance to all elements and attracts enemy attacks. She also gets group stagger and group tumble skills. And she can heal herself.
= Elena, the Centauress =
- Beat the first boss and make her using the boss drop.
- She's fast, but suffers from a lack of AP. You won't feel it that much at first, but after she gets group-attack actions and elemental actions you will. She does get a nice critical rate boost though, and she remains one of your fastest allies.
= Anna, the Mermaid =
- Go to South Beach and talk to a man in the bar at the Seaside Village. Follow the shore east to Mermaid Cove, where you get a mermaid scale to make her.
- Your first healer. Also your introduction to special movement skills. Hers allows water travel. She's decent, and she can cure stagger/tumble/stun. Too bad she has to use magic to do any decent damage. And she doesn't get any weapon bonuses.
= Clark, the Kraken =
- Beat the Deep-Sea Cave's boss and make her using the boss drop.
- Your first multi-hit character. Like all multi-hitters, great for single-target damage and terrible against counterattackers. Her normal attack hits four to six times with weapon upgrades. IMO outclassed later by... pretty much every other physical attacker. Her weapon inflicts blindness later and makes her normal attack randomly hit all enemies.
= Adelia, the Alraune =
- In the first screen of Bergen Forest, head west and west at the crossroads for her material.
- IMO the best healer because she can actually deal awesome damage to boot. Her heals are over time as opposed to Anna's instant heals though, and she can't cure stagger/tumble/stun, so take your pick. Oh, and she deals physical damage in the form of random-target multi-hits or single-target drains instead of Anna's magical water bullets. Her normal attack hits thrice. Later weapons give her auto-HP regen and HP absorption on regular attacks.
= Lacey, the Fairy =
- In Bergen Forest, exit the Mountainside Village and go east to find the material you need to make her.
- I. Have. No. Clue. Her skill descriptions tell you nothing. NOTHING. Use at your own risk, your mileage may vary, yada yada yada...
= Franc, the Gargoyle =
- Climb the Old Mountain Path until you reach a broken suspension bridge and you'll find her material in the Gargoyle Cave nearby.
- IMO the best tank, but you don't have to believe me. She possesses the flight special movement skill, so you'll need her anyway. Might as well try her out. Her weapons give her physical and magical resistance later, and she has a cover skill that lets her take damage in allies' places.
= Nanaka, the Alchemist =
- Automatically joins you temporarily for Howmel Wilderness and the Forgotten Castle, then later permanently.
- I personally never saw the need for another Alchemist on the team unless you like spamming items. Her weapon passives are nice though, with collection bonuses and a damage boost.
= Amy, the Lamia =
- Beat the boss of Howmel Wilderness and make her using the boss drop.
- The debuffer of the game. Funny how late you get access to her. She does become fairly useful later, as her weapon renders her immune to debuffs herself.
= Charlotte, the Ghost =
- Joins after several encounters throughout the game.
- The single-target magical nuker. She gets access to every element except Light. Oh, and she has a special movement skill. Her improved weapon raises her evasion to 30, which sounds great and all, but really isn't since her HP blows.
= Saram, the Mummy =
- Beat the boss of the Abandoned Village and make her using the material in the chest the boss guards
- Another tank. She has group buffs for physical and magical defense, as well as auto-HP regen and magic resist on her weapons.
= Shock, the Arachne =
- Beat the Field Boss of Forest of Wonder and make her using the boss drop
- She fights using sword stances, and all of her actions shift her to/from a stance. Interesting fighting style, to be sure, but I prefer others. She isn't by any means bad though, so feel free to use her. Her weapons give her increased agility and critical hit rate. Oh, and her normal attack lowers enemy agility.
= Shizu, the Ancient Weapon =
- Buy the item from the Graunia merchant for 20000G, open the chest in the second room from the left on the second floor of your house, and bring one ゼレスフィア (Zere Sphere / Strengthener) to the room with the "doll" on the second floor of your house. Talk to her to activate her.
- Her upgrades are all unlocked very late in the game, so don't expect her to do much until then. That said, she is a very powerful multi-hitter. Her normal attack hits six times on a single target, may inflict stagger/tumble/stun, and she counters attacks sometimes. She also has powerful elemental skills (one of the only units who can use the Light element). Her weapons increase her own stun resistance as well.
= Reveried, the Demoness =
- Bring 10 血の宝玉 (Blood Gems) to the Tower, teleport underground, and give them to the machine; she joins upon returning to your home
- The multi-target magical nuker. Charlotte on steroids. Plus she gets access to every element. Her magical attack stat is off the charts. I don't know what her weapon passives do though... something about special racial effects? Oh, and did I mention she counterattacks physical attacks with a magical attack?
= Sheria, the Dragon =
- Her material is in a chest in your atelier after the volcano is unlocked.
- Extremely powerful physical attacker who tends to keep herself alive thanks to her HP absorption on attacks. She shares the same ability as most late-game bosses (the one where EXTEND flashes across the screen), being able to buff most of her stats in exchange for a large portion of her HP.
= Tamamo, the (Nine-Tailed) Fox =
- Defeat her on 10F of the Tower and she will join you.
- She starts at LV1, a heavy handicap considering how she undoubtedly curb-stomped you the first time you rushed into taking her on. However, take the time to level her up and she becomes a very viable healer and physical/magical nuker. In other words, she does pretty much everything except tank.
