Chloe: HP = 80, PP = 73, EP = 79, Status = Fine, Pregnant

Left to shift through the files, Chloe eventually found the one that she was looking for, one labeled R. Mortis, and flipped it open. He had apparently been released the day that the soldiers said he had gone missing, and his release papers were signed by a name that Chloe would recognize immediately. Miranda Greyback, the top researcher on magical creatures, who had led them through the tour dictating the abilities of the aliens two years ago. Why she would have signed the man out was unclear, but the release was marked for "outside care." The on-duty attendant was supposed to co-sign the release, and the name there for it was "Sajien Tenes" a name that she would recognize as one of her fellow healers, albeit one that she rarely shared shifts with.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe got a sinking feeling in her stomach. She was never fond of Ms. Greyback, her interest in the strange creatures that had attacked the academy made Chloe uneasy. Looking in the file more she noticed the man was marked for outside care but to her knowledge there was no outside care facilities. Looking at the cosigner Chloe decided that she would ask him to see if he remembered what facility he was sent to.

Chloe would know that sometimes students would be returned home for care, if their injuries or illnesses were severe enough and if their patrons were wealthy enough. Such was almost certainly not the case in this instance though, as someone with the family ties to produce that kind of treatment almost certainly wouldn't be in the militia, at least not as anything less than a knight. If she wished to investigate the matter further, Chloe would know that Saijien would be working tomorrow afternoon, or if she wished to find him sooner could look in the dormitories where he stayed or in the library. If she wished to question Greyback on the matter of the missing soldier, she would have to wait until the battle in Gods-Reach was over, as it was known that she had intended to join that battle, and had been put in charge of the Academy volunteers by the Dean of the school.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe sighed and looked over the paper work before making a two copies for herself. Something didn't feel right to her about this if he had been taking back to the camp the others would surely have known. Still she had no way of speaking with the Professor at this time. However Seijien was an easier matter. Looking at the time Chloe frowned it was still some time left for her shift so she hopped Seijien would be at the library.

Resigning herself to staying the whole of her shift, Chloe at least had a fairly uneventful one. An injury from a prank gone wrong, a broken toe on one of the janitors, some cat scratches, and a person with a particularly bad cold were the only people that came in while she was away. Beligar was about for half of it before going off duty himself, but he didn't seem to take notice of Chloe's interest in that subject. Her shift ended before the battle for Gods-Reach did, but she was told that she might be called back to help with the wounded shortly.

Once she was off duty, Chloe was free to head off to the library to search for Sakien, or to complete any personal tasks that she might wish to, or perhaps wait until those injured in the battle started coming in from the field hospitals. The choice was hers.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Her curiosity almost begged for her to go and seek answers but given that the one she wanted to ask was likely to be called back for duty as well Chloe opted to relax and prepare herself mentally for the on rush of blood and death that would soon enter the healing wards. Heading to her room to drop of the copies of the documents she had made Chloe left a note for her room mates telling them that she would likely be busy tonight and not to worry if she wasn't back at a decent hour. Changing into simple robes Chloe set her nice set aside after all she expected she would get messy. With that taken care off she headed back and took a moment to rest in one of the gardens nearby.

Chloe found Stephanie in their room when she went to change and drop off the documents she'd copied, but she was pouring over a thick, leather-bound tome and didn't even seem to notice Chloe until she made herself known. "Oh! Hello Chloe!" she said without turning toward her, "Carly said she'd be out all night when she stopped by earlier. What's up?"

After explaining her plans however much she wished to her room mate, Stephanie wouldn't hold Chloe up any more than that, and after changing and heading out she would find the gardens surprisingly occupied. Specifically, Saijen and one of his friends that Chloe didn't know were standing by a bush, both of them smoking. Such wasn't against the rules on campus, so long as it was done outside, but it was certainly frowned upon in the gardens.

"Hey Steph!" Chloe smiled at her roommate "The wounded from the battle should be coming in soon.. if any of them are alive anyway. I will be busy for most of the night so no need to wait up for me." With that Chloe changed into robes she didn't mind getting bloody and headed out to the gardens for a moments peace. Walking in Chloe couldn't believe her luck as Saijen was in the gardens. Walking calmly to the duo Chloe feign ignorance of who they where as she approached. "Hey no smoking in the academy.. Oh Saijen I didn't know it was you." Coughing slightly Chloe looked to the man. "Anyway it fortunate I found you here. A relative of one of your patients a Mr. Roger Mortis made an inquire about his location. I checked the paperwork to put the man at ease but it seems to have listed him as being sent for outside care? I was hoping you could clear this up for me as the patients cousin said he never made it back to camp."

Saijen and his companion, a young man that Chloe wouldn't recognize, quickly moved to extinguish and hide their cigarettes at Chloe's shout. They were Badarian imports, cheap tobacco rolled into cheaper paper, and their stench was even more foul than that of the more common pipe smoked herbs. "Uhhh.... Heh, hello, uhhh, Chloe!" he said, and his friend nodded nervously and muttered the same under his breath. An Amazonian who had been born in Crolia, Saijen looked the part of his people, his slightly yellow skin, dark hair, and slanted eyes marking him as one with foreign blood, but his friend looked to be either Crolian or Badarian with brown hair and blue-grey eyes.

"Huh? Oh, uhhhh.... Yeah! I remember that guy, a soldier... Had a, uhhh, broken leg, right?" Saijen asked once Chloe asked about Roger Mortis, gradually becoming more confident as the seconds ticked by. "Yeah... He was discharged by a professor. Said something about being a personal friend, picked up the guy while he was too dosed to confirm it, but... Well, when a senior staff member wants something, you don't argue with 'em about it, am I right? Especially Greyback. I'm not sure what happened to him after that, Greyback and two people that I didn't recognize but who were in official uniforms took him away on a stretcher." The young man beside him nodded in agreement to the remark about Greyback, and she would notice that both had dressed in their shabbier clothes, suggesting a similar line of reasoning to Chloe herself.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe was never good at detecting lies and sadly to her it sound as if Saijen was on the level. Sighing Chloe looked at the two. "Humm strange the man's cousin never said a word about that to me. Oh well another mystery then." Chloe smiled "Well thanks Saijen guess Ill have to ask Professor Greyback about the strange circumstances. After all we don't want the Academy blamed for disappearances now do we." Chloe giggled slightly waving as she left the smoking duo her face happy and carefree but inside her heart sank. She didn't want to talk to the professor about this especially sense Greyback was not directly linked to the healing hall. Maybe she should go to Beligar about it. After all Greyback was mostly into research and experimentation. This of course stirred Chloe even more but she told herself to calm down maybe it wasn't all that it seemed. Yes she would see Beligar about this after she had dealt with the wounded, hopefully Chandlier was not one of them.

"Uhhh... Nope! Definitely not!" Saijen said, and then waved Chloe off as she walked away. Soon enough someone rushed past them, and a moment later Beligar and a dozen more rushed past Chloe, not even glancing at her or Saijen as he called out to the assorted healers who had been waiting in the yard; "The triage center is being established outside of the staging area. Most of the wounded who can get through are apparently too badly hurt to move farther than that. I'm going to have to call for volunteers to go to the other side and help there!" His voice carried, and it was clear that he was speaking to all of them, and that the situation was grim.

Jenny looked up at the sudden commotion her duty and calling sounding in her heart. "I will go the triage center Sir!" In fact Chloe was on the move already a plan quickly forming in her head. Some of her most powerful magics could help a large amount a people at once at lest enough to stabilize those grievously injured and out right healing the walking wounded. Heading out to the triage center Chloe was going at a run steeling herself for the sights ahead.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe would get a number of odd looks as she volunteered, and then promptly ran from the courtyard and started towards the way out of the Academy. The halls were dark and empty, the pale light of the lightstones hanging from the walls enough to make the stone passageways reminiscent of the abandoned chapel of the Star God in which she had very nearly been murdered. Still, no walking death came forth to try to butcher her this time, and eventually the young healer burst through the Academy's open front doors and out into the evening.

The staging ground for the portal-based assault on Gods-Reach was visible even from the Academy doors, the massive number of people involved and the lanterns, torches, and magical lights necessary to allow so many to see no doubt visible from miles away. Rushing to it, Chloe was pretty well winded by the time she arrived within range to hear the shouts, and upon drawing near was directed to the trauma center where the healers were assembling. She was handed a potion as she entered the first of over two dozen pavilions, in which she found dozens of men and women lying on cots.

Their injuries were brutal when they were visible at all, many of them missing portions of limbs entirely, wounds that would require extremely powerful magic to heal. Some had already been stabilized by magic, but many of them had only seen more conventional medical attention by that point, and would need much more or potent magical healing to keep from dying of their wounds.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe stopped dead in her tracks. The sight was almost over whelming. The cries of the wounded and dying filling her ears. Calming herself Chloe entered the first pavilion and looked about seeing the nature of the wounded present. "Hang in there please." Focusing a moment Chloe let the soothing powers of healing emanate from her. The spell she was using was powerful and to her knowledge she was one of the few in the academy who was this focused in the school.

Feeling her power build Chloe poured even more power into it before letting it loose in a wave blueish white light. It enveloped those around her restoring their bodies, or what was left of them anyway. It burned a good amount of her power but she held her mastery over the magic ensuring the spells completion.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe: HP = 80, PP = 73, EP = 60/79, Status = Fine, Pregnant, maintaining Regenerative Aura

Even with as much power as she used, causing the familiar ache of channeling so much energy at once to threaten a rise around her temples, Chloe's spell could do nothing more than stabilize the wounded around her. While it was a spell that a decent number at the Academy could cast, many of them were still behind her and on their way, they weren't there yet.

The first waves of healing magic washed over the shredded men and women around her, knitting together minor injuries without leaving so much as a scar, and at first it seemed as if her massive spell had saved the forty some people within its range.... Until one with a broken leg awoke and started screaming, the bones having not been set yet due to the rush. That one, a boy who looked barely over the age of sixteen, was the first to start screaming, but not the last. Seven others started soon after as the pain of their broken bones knitting back together improperly caused them to awaken from their magically induced comas. Five who had missing body parts went into wild seizures, spasming as their bodies tried to regrow the missing flesh and bone from the only source that they had available, and one of the five or so healers present in the room quickly came up to Chloe and shouted; "Stop that! Dammit, didn't you think that we'd have tried that if we thought it would work!?"

It was about then that her training would kick in, and she would remember why such mass healing spells were seldom used and why they were rarely researched. While they were powerful and capable of healing many people at once, the impersonal nature of them meant that the sudden influx of energy was dispersed without proper control. A personal touch, allowing the healer to guide the magic to where it needed to go, was generally much more effective and rarely had the dire consequences that Chloe's mass healing had just invoked. Pure life force could cause as much harm as it helped, and while the majority might have benefited from her healing, it was a slimmer margin than her healer's training might have liked.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe cursed at her self it was such a novice mistake and now these people suffered for it. Still chastising herself won't fix the current problem and quickly she dropped her powerful spell and went to the nearest person. "Hold on hold on be at peace shhhsss" Trying to sooth her patient Chloe brought forth her power to make the person rest. She had a lot of work to redo and it would cost her dearly in energy and time. Speaking soothing words Chloe tried to calm those she had inadvertently hurt and fix her novice mistake.

Doah!
Okay so Chloe will go threw and try to fix what she made worse. Setting bone and stabilizing the critically injured.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe: HP = 80, PP = 73, EP = 60/79, Status = Fine, Pregnant

Chloe wasn't the only healer forced to help in repairing the damage she had done. A quartet of other healers, only one of whom seemed to possess any magic, were quickly busy trying to help those that her spell had harmed. The man she approached first had had a broken leg, but because of her spell it had knitted together improperly, producing lumps of bone that were causing him enough pain that he was howling well above the cries of the rest of the wounded. His leg needed to be rebroken and set into its proper place, an act that a pair of men that her healing burst hadn't harmed helped her with but that had him howling even louder, and only then could more gentle healing assuage his pain and put his leg back in order, though the bony growths would need to be removed with surgery.

Such was the case with most of those she had healed, unfortunately, and while the ones she had helped moved quickly to assist their still pained comrades it was difficult and time consuming work. They were just about halfway done when the group that Chloe had preceded arrived, and Beligar spoke quietly with one of the healers that had been present when Chloe arrived before glancing at her with a small frown. "Saihen, Talia, you're in here. We'll have to spread ourselves thin to help cover everything, do what you can to help these people, save who you can, make the rest comfortable. Chloe, finish up and come with me!" he called out authoritatively, and the other two healers he'd called to remain here quickly broke off and started helping the other medics at their tasks, but the group waited for Chloe to finish her current patient, a broken rib that had been healed such that it was jabbing against the lung of its owner whenever they moved.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe winced at the tone Beligar had used. Finishing up her work on the man she made her way to the head healer and bowed. "Sir Im sorry I got careless and made a novice mistake and these poor souls suffered for it. I just wanted to help them so much my actions outpaced my thoughts." Chloe kept her slight bow and waited for Beligar to speak. She had been in the wrong and she knew it and who knows how many lives she just cost with her mistake. Her face was flushed with embarrassment as she awaited Beligar's chastising words.

"We can talk about it later," Beligar replied evenly as they started walking, "I knew someone without experience to let them know better was going to do it at some point. Just don't do it again." The group quickly moved through several of the tents, Beligar divvying off two healers per tent and saying nothing more. It was four tents later that Chloe was sectioned off alongside a trainee that she didn't even know the name of. There were three other healers in the room with them, and Chloe was largely left to her own devices in the makeshift trauma as all the others started scrambling around, woefully understaffed to see to the needs of at least fifty wounded men and women.

Re: Healing the Soul (ranger)

Chloe's face was still red even after being assigned to her tent. Immediately she got to work on her first patient. Trying to sooth the solider under her care Chloe checked the obvious wounds while casting a weak spell that would detect any hidden damage. "Hey there its okay your in good hands." Determining a course of action based on the wounds Chloe got to work to at lest stabilize the solider so she could move on to another.

OOC
Chloe will use diagnose to find any hidden injuries while she inspects the wound. After applying appropriate healing depending on the injury so the patient is out of danger Chloe will move on to the next.
