Helena's wrist computer does have communicator, but the only addresses she has are Ginny's and the station security. It doesn't take her very long to get to the shuttle bay, where things are much like yesterday, though this time two shuttles are being prepared for take-off. Lurker has taken off and been replaced by another shuttle.

Helena moves around, asking about the busty red-head, talking to anyone who has time to listen, if her search here proved fruitless then she would move to the Sec-Station and inquire there...

This time there's another man handling the flight control, this one slightly overweight and in his forties. "She was here, you say? Around what time was that?" After hearing the time, he brings up the video recordings of the time on the screens, showing first Helena coming in and walking to the lurker, then her meeting with Jasmine. Jasmine is shown to head to the Lurker and go in, almost immediately after which the shuttle takes off.

"Well, seems like you're in luck, miss. The Lurker has apparently had a problem of some sort, so they're coming back here instead of going to wherever they were supposed to go. Should be here in about six hours."

Helena dips a nod and thanks the man kindly, "Could you please tell her to come back to the lab as soon as she returns? we need her desperately." Saying this she moves to head back to the lab and inform Ginny...

The man nods before turning back to his work. The trip back is eventless, though Helena spots another spider building its web in one of the side tunnels, this one somewhat smaller than "her" spider.

Helena approaches the spider without worry, "Hello!" she calls cheerfully.

The spider turns to look at her and flails at her direction, moving between her and its incomplete web. Its body is a little smaller than hers, and it stands to little over her waist.

Helena stops, not sure what the flailing means, but pretty sure that the spider is worried about its web, Moving slowly so as not to alarm the poor thing she moves forward and reaches out a hand to pat it on the head...

The spider gradually stops flailing as Helena gets closer, and though it first flinches away, it allows her to pat it. Apparently deciding she's not a threat, it goes back to building its web.

Helena pats the poor little thing gently before moving away from the web carefully, assuming it was young and skittish, waving and smiling she continues on her way through the compound...

As Helena gets back to the laboratory, she finds Ginny hanging on the ceiling of her bedroom, typing on her laptop. "Did you find her?"

Seeing Ginny on the ceiling gave her pause, but recovering Helena nods "Apparently she left on the Lurker, but the ship encountered problems and its heading back to port, should be here in 6 hours, Left a message with the port control to send her here as soon as shes back" she says. "Until then, how should we proceed?" she asks excitedly. finally getting in the spirit of things now that Ginny was more agreeable and results had proven promising.

Ginny leaps off from the ceiling and lands on the floor. "Well. I suppose we could do a few more tests with higher doses, then. Perhaps we'll find something else."

Ginny moves to lab and gets another test mouse, motioning Helena to monitor the results. "Testing 20 rads in 30 seconds" As expected, the pulse slows down and the heat production increases, but suddenly the pulse shoots through the door before stopping completely, just as the radiation stops.

"Umm Ginny... I think you killed it. we have zero pulse. And it was instantaneous, there was nothing I could do" Helena said a little worried...

Ginny frowns and sets the containment before opening the dome. Inside, the mouse is writhing as it slowly takes on slimelike qualities. Its limbs melt together and it takes on green color. When the transformation is complete, it stops moving and melts into a pool that floats gently in the air. Helena can hear Ginny gagging as the containment is lowered and a stench of rotten meat fills the laboratory.

"seems theres a goldilocks zone for the radiation tolerance concerning the transformation, think we should kick it back 25% and compare, see if we can form a gradient and graph everything. plot out the effects of future changes in the radiation levels and manipulate the transformation process as well as form a set of control variables for future experiments" Helena stated, granted they could do this up and down, left and right and get nowhere, but it was worth a shot.

Ginny turns on the cleaning systems and the puddle, as well as everything else not attached to the floor, is pulled to the waste tank, taking the smell away. "I don't think it's the dose, but the duration. Let's test with 20 rads over 60 seconds." Ginny fetches another mouse and places it inside the dome. "One minute, 20 rads."

This time the pulse slows down gradually as it should, only disappearing at the end. The result is a small green slime that's very much alive, as it tries to get at Ginny through the containment field.

"Huzzah!" Helena cries, jumping excitedly and wanging her head on the ceiling as she forgets about the Micrograv. "Owww!" Rubbing her head and floating back down she ponders for a second before saying "We need to verify these results in standard grav...

Ginny smiles slightly. "Nothing like this happens in standard gravity. That's why we're here and not in California. Let's do a few more tests before lunch."

Apart from one exploding mouse, the tests give similar results, all the mice turning into slimes in varying shades of blue and green.

Helena collects a few of the slimes in jars, claiming its for personal testing when in reality she just thinks the little things are cute and theres a lot of them. 3 in total are moved to her room before stopping for lunch. "I think today went quite well compared to yesterday" she says cheerfully, "what should we eat?"
