The guard smiles back, then leads her through the office to small eating area. "It's not much of a meal, but I can offer you some sandwiches and hot tea. Name's Jim, by the way." The man then proceeds to pull out some lettuce, spinach, bacon and bread and makes two large sandwiches and pours two cups of tea before sitting down with Shirako. "Not much that has happened lately, except the disappearance of the father Michael. One night he just up and left, riding to the east and muttering to himself. He left a letter that says they'll send another priest here soon. If you ask me, he hasn't been quite right in his head for months now, ever since the Baron-" Jim cuts of suddenly, then continues. "Other than the priest leaving, one of the woodcutters has died. A fine lad he was, but got caught under a tree he was felling and when the others came it was too late. Mostly it's been quiet, as usual. A few petty thefts, an enraged husband beating his wife, an enraged wife - the same one- beating his husband; those two took four men to separate, Janette is a fine woman, you won't hear me saying otherwise, but... Jim shakes his head, then takes a sip of tea.
